What's funny is, even though the stylistic differences are glaring, they make just as much sense as the ones in vanilla. IE, the white blood cells being unarmored females with crude weapons and poor communication, or how the body begins destroying itself, cell by cell, out of pure stress. Helps that it's being overwatched by vanilla's creator.

Yeah! The anime / manga is a plethora of great human biology knowledge. I wish there was an anime version of the other Cells at Work manga edition. The version we watch is based on a human with a generally healthy body / disposition. The other version of Cells at Work (Manga only) is called Cells at Work: Black and chronicles the inner workings of the cells inside the body of a human who smokes, eats poorly, is overweight, and I believe has some pretty rough diseases / viruses / health problems. Either way, LOVE Dr. Hope's take on this and I 100% agree with everything you said, @ayune Souza !

Not really. This kind of thing happens all the time. Bacteria and viruses get in, cells mutate to a cancerous condition, your body kills them off. On that scale, it's a major battle. But for you, it's rare you even notice until you get generalized symptoms, which means the battle has just become a full-scale war. You are actually getting microcancers all the time from background radiation, but your body fights them off before they can become dangerous malignancies. (In fact there was an experiment where they isolated lab mice in a mine, shielded from background rads...when they brought them out, the mice were FAR more prone to cancers.) I think this human is a soldier or something. It explains the battery of conditions he or she suffers in later episodes.

OrangeOVA I'm pretty that's exactly right
@MewGirlZ6 жыл бұрын
@@Perifroog But sickle cells can't do their jobs well at all. That's why they are problematic. Their hemoglobin mishapes them so they flow weird sure, but they also can't hold nearly as much oxygen as a regular Erythrocyte. Nor can they effectively squeeze into smaller blood vessels because of their shape. I'm saying she's NOT a sickle cell because despite having a hard time navigating she still carries as much O2 and CO2 for gas exchange and fits fine into the smallest cappilaries. There's lots of other evidence to debunk this claim as well. It might be a cameo and an intentional part of the character design, but that's all. I doubt the mangaka made AE-3803 a sickle cell. There's nothing to actually support it.

I think our little red blood cell Protagonist is a sickle cell. But my only evidence is that she has trouble finding her way around (Trouble flowing properly in the blood stream). And the little bit of her hair that kind of sticks up in that odd shape normally used in books to show the difference between normal and sickle blood cells.
@CygnusSilver6 жыл бұрын
As a person with sickle cell. I definitely thought that. Lol I was like this cell is a bit goofy. She's either going to cause an accidental stroke or this person's a sickler.
@gtf2346 жыл бұрын
AE-3803 lacked a sense of direction even before she had her ahoge though, and I feel like if she were intended to be a sickle-trait her hat would be deformed to match and there'd be more mob characters with similar features even for only sickle-trait. That and we've seen her ahoge comically detects danger, so it's likely not a design element meant to have much meaning assigned to it. When she was a progenitor cell she was assessed to likely be a dummy unfit for anything but the work of an Erythrocyte- which is sort of framed as mindless work and playing on their lack of nucleus and organelles (which Black more overtly points out in a much more fatalistic tone). It's also possible her number/name is her hemoglobin- AE would be heterozygous E- not enough to be entirely defective like EE (which results in anemia problems among other issues) but in flavor for 3803's general clumsiness but not outright incompetence. Sickle is type S hemoglobin. Type-E is at its most prevalent in Asia, which of course is the likely ethnicity of the host body too. Normal hemoglobin is homozygous type A (AA), which is the prefix for both her senior as well as the protagonist of Cells at Work Black. For added fun AE-3803 and AA-5100 (her senior) are hexcodes for the colors of their respective hair- none of the other Erythrocytes seem to have this trend in their names though.

@@Jai-il5ur What...? I never said it was a virus. The person above explained it well. As a doctor, your role is to treat illnesses and stop anything that can harm the body. Cancer is clearly one of the biggest medical challenges we face, but the anime does it so well because in reality, cancer is just one of your own cells that lethally mutated (I. E. It wasn't it's fault it's like that/it's not a foreign invader), but you must kill it or the body will die.

So I thought I’d come back and say that this show and your reaction/review actually helped me in college in my Medical Assistant education. I graduated this past summer and I’m working as a certified medical assistant for 2 months now, and I’m enjoying it Don’t know if I’ll go back and further my education, probably not but who knows. But for now, thanks for the notes on this anime, helped me out lmao.

It's an incredibly powerful and strange sort of catharsis to see someone genuinely enjoy something that you love. ESPECIALLY when it's anime lol. Putting that aside, loved the video, your presentation was perfect and engaging and I loved the breakdowns and explanations, definitely gonna be watching the rest of these

Hello. I am a Japanese. I was watching this animation. In Japan,It is used by part of the text for medical and school. I am sorry I am not good at English.

That's interesting, it would make good teaching material

@@weavelcow9596 I think so.too. Now we Japanese students are studying text increased few figures and many sentences. Also we rarely discuss high technology subjects. But such a easy for understanding text encourages our discussions.
