Doctor Mike

6 жыл бұрын

It probably doesn’t surprise you to hear that I often get asked about the reality of the popular doctor tv shows like Grey’s Anatomy, House, ER, Good Doctor, Scrubs, etc. In this video, I tackle the most perpetuated tv medical drama myths about working as a doctor in a hospital. It's pretty funny because technically I am a TV doctor because I work in news but I hope to you it's clear I am referring to fictional tv doctors!
If you watch until the end you’ll know that I have never watched a full Grey’s Anatomy episode and if you guys get this video to 10k likes, I will watch a full episode and record my reactions as a stand-alone YT video! I'll call it Real Doctor Watches Grey's Anatomy! Now go smash those like and share buttons!!! Also, don’t forget that I will be doing a monthly video reading the comments you leave so go ahead, jump into the comments section. Love you all!

My sister-in-law passed away from pancreatic cancer last March. Her oncologist was unbelievably compassionate. I don't know how she finds the strength to deal with the amount of death and pain around her on a daily basis. The amount of time she took to give comfort to us after her passing was something I never expected - not to mention everything she did for sis in her year-long struggle with constant pain. Cancer is far, far more brutal than I ever imagined it to be before what I saw happen that year. There really aren't words to describe it - and there aren't words to describe the emotional fortitude and empathy of oncologists like her.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my uncle about 5 or 6 years ago to pancreatic cancer as well, I don't remember what stage it was, but it was absolutely heartbreaking seeing how much pain he was in on a regular basis and how often he got sick. He kept fighting though, even till the end. My family and I were actually in a bit of shock when he passed, because beforehand, he was actually doing really well and we thought the chemo would work. We were really close. I wasn't there when he passed, so I don't know how the doctors were with my dad (his brother), my aunts, and grandparents, but I'm glad your sister's oncologist was helpful during that time.

Holding a woman's hand for twenty minutes when she'd just lost her husband... that sounds like a very human thing to do, in the best way. Even if there aren't any words, a gesture like that can make a difference. Just knowing that someone else cares that your loved one is gone. Well done, Doctor Mike. :)

I appreciate the fact that Dr. Mike as a doctor himself actually thought of the nurses, I'm a media student and playing the role as a PD of short medical films, I truly think that nurses deserves to get known on TV and any other movie streaming platform. It's rarely nurses are shown, after all they went through the hard work too, they get stressed out attending to patients requests most of the times and they handled that well which is something that I respect.

That is something you shouldn't tell anyone, let alone someone whose pain is so colossal, they'd rather take the uncertainty of death than a single more minute of living. I feel like Doctors, lawyers... anything that has to do with prestige... gets better year by year. Dr. Mike already explained the hardship of being a doctor fresh out of medical school, but in the long run, doctors in general will make banks as long as they keep up the quality of their work. For example, if a doctor successfully treated one patient, now that patient's family trusted that doctor and not only they will go to him for advice, they will also recommend friends and family to visit him. Most people tend to stick to a couple good doctors they know in their life time and wealthier patients are always willing to pay a good amount of money to stay healthy.

Alien This is the case for pretty much any career. You become more proficient and efficient, and find more and better ways to provide value and quality while remaining competitive. Those who don’t do this either fail or go nowhere (or join a union lol). Improving yourself and your skill set are common to most career paths, prestigious and not-so-prestigious alike. Compensation trends with proficiency.

watch Dr. Mike's take on TV medical dramas. seriously. Doctors and nurses are busy. You would think that late night would be quieter, but in reality it is often quite as busy due to accidents from exhaustion being higher. That's all TV medical fiction. I was hospitalized for two months, I knew the whole staff by the end. I saw no hanky panky. Everyone was busy all the time, often busy with me since I was in pretty bad shape coming in.

When I lost my dad in 2015, many things triggered my anxiety. Terms like "code blue" or "brain dead" instantly made me tear up. After three years, December of 2018, I went to the ICU to visit a family friend who got into a vehicular accident. Being in the ICU for the first time really messed me up. I sat there and I could barely breathe. I didn't think that I would have any sort of post traumatic reaction to it, but I did. I had to sit there in agony until the conversations were over. Upon hearing Dr. Mike talk about how he stayed with a widow for 20 minutes after her husband died, I just realized that I never saw the doctor who responded to my dad's code blue. I never saw her. We never talked. And I don't even know who she is. Even if she didn't approach me and my sister on that day, I still really want to meet her and thank her for being there and for trying to save him. Thank God for people like Dr Mike. Who dont pick a career just for the big money grab , but who follow their passion. And also love his shoutout to the nursing staff. Too many people still think all they do is give spongebathes and empty bedpans.

Alexia Savana Demers God willing girl you will do very well! Proud nurse you are needed in the hospitals! Hope your have a good day I just want you to know Jesus loves you ❤️ you are never alone even when you feel lonely. Jesus is amazing John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son that whoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life” I you do believe it’s best to find a local church that believes Jesus as Lord and has died for our sins and rose again and now sits at the right hand of the throne and attend it and also repent meaning turn away from your sins and confess them to Jesus sounds hard but God will make a way. Also read the Bible and talk to Jesus start by saying abba father... of course we’re not going to be perfect but we believe in the one who is perfect

I am just really happy right now because this video reminds me that there are genuinely good people in this world. I'm even happier that amazing people like Dr. Mike are in professions that need handling of people who are at their most vulnerable moments, and just happy for his patients because I know they are in good hands.
