I take it that we also need to know for the test that in each Township of 36 sections which are 6 miles x 6 miles that each section is 1 sq mile which is also 640 acres and that each acre is 43,560 sq. feet and that each mile is 5,280 feet?

I was so confused on this section of my book. I thought that one Township of 36 square miles was one town ex: Anytown, USA. Then when Section 9 was used as the example (Christene is from Nashua, NH [which is 31 square miles]), it started to make sense; that 1 section(or town) is 6 square miles. Then I googled my hometown (in Massachusetts) and found that it was 7 square miles. Somehow things in this video and my book began to make sense. I then google 36 square miles in my state of Massachusetts and it showed me several towns within 36 square miles. Somehow looking at the grid block on the screen and my book wasn't making sense. Does this help make sense to anyone? Thank you for your explaination.

lauren gage Hopefully someone else will confirm, but I believe you Take 640 acrees/4 /4= 40. (Divided represented by "/") Then 640/2/2= 160 Then 640/2/4= 80 Then add 40 +160+80=280
