Alice is the one who suffers but the mother is equally to be blamed telling Stuart that he isn’t her father but someone else is. Her mother never thought of what effect it would have had on him. Unfortunately, the mother was and still a bit too selfish in putting the full blame on Stuart.

Alice's mother has been there for her the whole time, and that matters. She was young and she said something out of anger. It happens. Stuart could have had a blood test done back then, but he didn't. The important thing now is what Alice discovered in her search, that she has good fatherly relationships.

It's very interesting how Alice keeps justifying her mother's behavior because she was ONLY 21, yet she is now only 22. It seems like her mother was focused on having a man in her life at all times without regard to how it would affect her children. What mother would be ok with her 17 year old daughter moving in with a man twice her age? Alice has her head in the clouds about her wedding coming up but I hope she is a stronger, more mature and well adjusted person than her mother.

It's sad that this girl thinks growing up without a father wasn't really a big deal. The way she thinks it had no impact on her (if that's what she truly thinks). I think the 17 year age difference in her and the fiancee is an obvious hint. She needed a stable man in her life and her mother denied her that. Her mother tries to make herself look really good by spinning this good story of a good man but she just wanted to be married and resented him. Well then why not get married? I'm inclined to believe the bio dads statements of her denying he was the father. If she did that is a very hurtful and selfish thing to do for her child and the dad. Frankly with how much her mom moved around, I'm not sure she is entirely sure who the dad is. Just my opinion.

Sometimes when people say words in anger or frustration they have no idea the effect those words have on the person on the receiving end , I'm guessing those words, something like ' She's not yours anyway ' would and have had a enormous effect on Stuart , he would have thought ' I have no ties , I can move on '. To tell a man that ' She's not yours' is one of the most hurtful things he will ever hear and will probably make him sceptical for the rest of his life , if it's not true , that is evil. Alice's mum seems in this film , to be very nice , but she is the common denominator in this story. Her mum seems unimpressed with Stuarts responses , I don't know why , She caused it with those words. Alice , I hope you have a wonderful wedding and life with Ricky , I think Tristan and Noel have earned the privilege of walking you down the aisle of your wedding but I also hope you still try to form a relationship with Stuart in the future , it's not his fault or yours , that's down to your mum sadly. It's not too late but he needs convincing , don't give up Alice. Unfortunately I have a similar experience with a woman who amongst other things , uttered those words to me and even though I supported my daughter for 18 years , the mother wanted the money from me but didn't want me to see my daughter and even ignored court orders giving me access. She has won though , My daughter is 36 years old , married with a child but I haven't seen her for 19 years , My Daughter ( my only child) and I have never had crossed words but it seems that whatever her mum has said to her over the years ( I have not spoken to her mum in over 30 years) has had the effect her mum wanted which was to have nothing to do with me or any of my family, an example being , when my parents passed away within 57 days of each other , I contacted her mum to invite my Daughter to both funerals because we all wanted her there because she was family. Her mum passed the message on that she wouldn't be welcome. That is what I have had to deal with , I hope someday the situation will change.

My heart goes out to Alice. To have these 6 men mostly in then out of her life is very hurtful. I had a very similar upbringing with exceptions that my bio dad committed suicide when I was six and my DAD got the past 33 years is still in my life and with my mom. I am 45 now and unfortunately followed a lot in my moms footsteps and put my daughters through similar things. It’s very difficult dating as a single mother and not getting your children somewhat involved. We were blessed 12 years ago when my husband came into my life. My eldest daughter had known him for years because it was her best friend’s dad. So there was already an admiration and respect there from her and my youngest daughter and my husband clicked instantly. He is the only person besides their bio dad that they have ever thought of as a father figure and by their own choice they call him dad as well. My eldest daughter married a year ago and my husband officiated the marriage and her bio dad walked her down the aisle. It was beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ she had two father-daughter dances and it was a wonderful day ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Such relationships centre on seeking a 'permanent' physical bond between items (people) who are transient so are couched in disappointment. Sometimes one is better fulfilled by loving an inanimate object. My favourite gem stone has existed from the time of creation and no part of its inside has ever seen the light of day. It is loving and loyal and links me to eternity and everlasting life, and completely understands my vicissitutes. What more could any man seek from a relationship? P.s. Alice's mater is far more meritous than some of the contributors here believe.

I hope that Alice's mom gave all of her kids her surname. This way they are united by sharing the same last name. It's a real life Mama Mia. Personally, Stuart's response was very much warranted. He doesn't know her from Sam Hill. He has an established family already that he does need to consider. Hope that when they do connect that they get a DNA test. Knowing her mother's history with men, they may need this extra verification. Too much is at stake.

I typically love these kinds of stories but this one confused me! They said her mom dropped a bombshell about something but then they kinda left it at that. I’m only a few minutes in so I’m assuming they will clear that up as we go along. But, when they showed her going to a woman’s house and they mentioned a couple sisters or something like that and added that one woman had the same dad as her but I guess the others don’t. They mentioned names like we’re supposed to know who is who but that’s what started confusing me! I’m the type of person who needs to understand exactly who everyone is and where they belong in the story! I watched that part a few times trying to get a clear picture but still can’t! She’s irresponsible, selfish, and don’t own up to her action. Alice is in a magical mindset right now . Tristam should be the one to walk her down the aisle. Many times when a child is raised in such a way that they have to grow up very quickly, becoming involved with someone older makes sense. Because of Alice’s unstable home life growing up, she may have had to grow up very quickly and perhaps she did not have anything in common with other people her age. This happened to me. Due to my Mom’s death in arms just before my 15th birthday and my Dad’s rejection of me, I had much more responsibility than most people my age. While my peers were trying to figure out what to wear to the next school dance, or who to go with, I was trying to figure out how to pay bills and keep a roof over my head. Dating people a few years older than me seemed more comfortable at that point. I had more in common with guys a few years older than me.

For those who don't understand the total rejection a father suffers through by a cruel stab in the heart won't get it no matter. Obviously non of the multiple men stuck around overtime so there you have it. The word biodad is a poor choice and very hurtful. The father could definitely have treated his daughter better as it wasn't her choice or fault in any way. Children to often become weaponized pawns in relationship games. Due to hurt feelings and a long ago lie it soured the present. I do believe that the daughter if willing can make a difference if she has it in her to approach from a different perspective. The father needs to set aside his hurt feelings and get to know his daughter as he would be very surprised by her in a good way. Let bygones be in the past where they belong.
