Growing up in the early 2000s was rough in it's own ways. Things were starting to change so fast, technology was suddenly changing, there was a recession that brought even more tension.. and if things are bad now for body image? It was even worse then...people still openly and publicly romanticized eating disorders on every magazine cover. I was a nine year old child when I tried to starve myself in 2009, and was ashamed of myself for years because I wasn't able to follow through when I tried. I would feel proud of myself for skipping meals, I have permanent lines on my stomach from training myself to suck in my gut 24/7 for five years and then it took another three to completely unlearn it. I still scan the nutrition facts on every meal I eat, I still feel guilty if I eat anything other than celery...and I am a 23 year old adult. I understand, we need to find that balance...of encouraging a healthy lifestyle with fitness and food...but training children to hate themselves to the point of depression, disordered eating, and anxiety is just as unhealthy as obesity.

I don’t feel like the violent video game experiment really applies for all kids I mean as I kid I used to love playing GTA and I would play it as an eight year old and it never impacted my willingness to help others or behave normally or my empathy if you teach your kids the difference between video games and the real world your kids will be able to make those distinctions and still participate normally in society

Yes I agree. And I feel the interviews were not done the same, when interviewing the non-violent gamers the interviewers kneels down to pick up the pens, so the kids just join in, but with the violent gamers the interviewer does not move an inch towards the pens, so it gives the impression that he does not care that they've fallen.

10:00 why are they only testing boys? I'm a woman and I love video games. 🎮 20:29 that girl needs a psychologist. 36:10 there is something I want to point out here, when interviewing the non-violent gamers the interviewers kneels down to pick up the pens, so the kids just join in, but with the violent gamers the interviewer does not move an inch towards the pens, so it gives the impression that he does not care that they've fallen.

Kieran’s mum uses 3rd person too often I think. The eating is one thing, but “mommy feed ya“? hasn’t she heard things like “shall I feed you“ in her 4 years?

what a setup. there are games that are fun and engaging.. playing a sport game is so boring crash bandicoot or spyro would have been better. im 32 and i love real life sport.. but watching or playing on any device will put me to sleep in 5 mins flat

Parents have lost the plot , you start kids on nutritious foods right from the word go , you teach them boundaries , and behave as a parent , these whiny whiny kids these days is appalling……

Why did they collect a group of all boys for the video game experiment? A group of 50% and 50% girls would have made a lot more sense, given that pretty much all kids like video games. I'm sure the parents of girls have similar questions about effects of games.

The general thing is since Columbine School shooting and all others there after have predominately been male, they've been focusing on violent video games effect on boys.

These episodes are pretty old, and videogames are and were more closely associated with boys.
