The way that I think of it is that the 6 year old is depressed from the parents breaking up so she acts out. The mom hasn’t done anything about it so now her six year old is hitting and biting. Now the two and half year old is copying that behavior. The 3 year old who has Down syndrome has the eating problem. Part of the reason why for the eating problem is the Down syndrome, part of the reason might be a texture issue and the other reason why might be just her being three. A 3 year old who wants to control the situation. Finally the 4 and half year old and the other little girl: the 4 year old has a phobia that the parents didn’t help her right away. Instead they made it worse. Now their youngest is copying. That’s what I think.
@beckypatton8557
@beckypatton8557 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of the texture problems, too. Children with Down syndrome can have texture aversions.
@joeybonavita2739
@joeybonavita2739 2 жыл бұрын
@@beckypatton8557 same here. I mean if she only eats oat meal that are meant for babies that oat meal normally doesn’t have any lumps in it. Regular oat meal does. So she might actually have a texture problem if she only likes a certain brand and is afraid she might throw up. Now refusing to feed herself even through she can do it is just typical defiant 3 year old.

Do you think she won't get tough with the little cuteypie because she has downs syndrome? That little girl is "ruling the roost" and she shows signs of being accustomed to getting her own way. Her mother makes statements that express her view of downs syndrome translating to the person who has it having less expectations and opportunities. Maybe mom doesn't believe her daughter is able to handle stricter parenting or mom's own fear of failing at attempts to to enforce boundaries. That little girl seems clever enough doesn't she?

Kiera’s mom: the behaviors you pay attention to are those that persist. Catch her being good and focus on that. She is dying to be loved- and if she can’t get that from you, your negative attention is better than nothing. Correct with surety and ignore the rest of Kiera’s quite abusive behavior of you. I suspect she has trauma from your ex husband’s abuse of you.

I agree. Kyra is desperately wanting her mom's love and hugs. The mom has nothing but harsh words for her daughter even when she drew her a picture, the mom refused it. My heart is broken for Kyra. Yes, she has behavior issues, but she's 6 yrs old. The mom needs to be an adult/parent and be a mother for her little daughter. Seems to me, the mom hates her own child. She couldn't praise that little girl if she had to. Kyra must be scared to death inside and she's not old enough to recognize or verbally tell her mom how she's feeling. I feel so sorry for Kyra. She's an emotional mess is an understatement.

Elise Sterling Sorry, but you don’t ignore violent, abusive, off the wall behaviors. You make the consequences for it so unpleasant that the child learns that the behavior isn’t worth it. Once you give them the consequence, you ignore them, but there must always be a quick and consistent consequence. Ignoring it sends the message that they can get away with it.

Yeah that’s true. Also I feel really bad for Erin. I mean I have two siblings who have Down syndrome. My 2 year old brother and five year old sister. The 2 year old eats food that you know a typical toddler would like even if you don’t have kids: aka: Chicken nuggets, fish sticks, fries, Mac and cheese, carrot sticks and ranch, ice cream, strawberries, crackers, cookies, maybe some broccoli, juice, water and so on. 22:00 But then he eats some crazy meals that you wouldn’t expect a two year whether they have Down syndrome or not to eat. Such as a Marinated chicken that was seasoned with lemon pepper with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. Can he feed himself. Yes but he refuses too. Even still. The 5 year old on the other hand is like Erin. She is stuck on baby oats and purées. So I feel bad for Erin. She reminds me of my siblings. She’s a beautiful little girl. Her brother and her mother are great care takers. She has a good mom and i know that God prays that she has the best.

@@lessehead I never had children behave that way so its difficult to say what I'd do. But a close friend had a daughter with atrocious behavior when I was raising my family. Whenever they were visiting I would cringe and she thought her daughter did no wrong. One day when I could tolerate it no longer I grabbed the 4 year old when mom wasn't present and said "listen" & proceeded to put the fear of the lord into her. I expected she would come out screaming to Mommy and our friendship would be over but she didn't. After that day she always behaved herself at my house. She is 34 years old now, a lovely young woman, married with 3 children and still remembers the day I left her what she refers to as scared sh**less, and admits she had it coming. All the adults referred to this child as Shreiky back then after a character from Care Bears cartoon. There were so many people that would not have her parents over for bbqs, poker, etc because they couldn't stand the child. The thing is I don't recall what I said to her but it was magic.

@@marylyn66 well, I personally think it's a pretty big red flag that the mother, when upon first meeting Tanya and being asked why she's there, says it's because she doesn't want to push her new love interest away because she's had it with her kids 😒 I also find it extremely telling that upon drawing the picture for her mommy, Keira gets no reaction & says she really wishes mommy would "appreciate" her picture. She's WAY too smart for mom, who should have immediately put her on a 6-min time out after the first outburst, and once she put the microphone back on, let her then draw the photo AND THEN showed her appreciation for it. That kind of parenting on a consistent level is what this child - and every other - needs.

I've just skipped through this first episode to see the families. The animal phobia seems to be an attention grab. That little girl seemed to seek the pick up & pacify she received from Mom and Dad when she spotted a cat or whatever.

I hope they can get the kid over it...her little sister is copying her behavior and that is NOT good. This is a parent problem. Dad expressed that he won't allow his daughter to be stressed in any way. Puhhhhhlease.

The older daughter is playing up. She is being very willful about it too. These would not be the first parents on this show to not see that their child is behaving overdramatic in order to maintain the control over a situation, be it fear of sleeping alone, being away from mommy & daddy or having a cute fluffy pet get any attention from mom & dad.

Like most shows they post only 1 episode per week, so you have to wait until next Saturday.. and there will be 5 or 6 episodes coming still for this batch of families (each episode covering one day).

They really must edit out all the other times the kids complain about wearing their microphones. That’s a lot to make a child wear, especially ones that might have sensory issues, or even kids that just like excuses to kick off. If a tag in a shirt can irritate a kid, imagine those mic packs strapped to them?

She's 6! Do you have any children of her own? She told her mother she wished she would "appreciate" her photo! She's VERY smart and mature for 6! The mother was more interested in her new love interest - her reason for wanting her children to act better, so she didn't scare him away - than the reasons WHY her children act up.

@@bh29 of course I have children of my own. Between my sisters and me, we got a whole grip of kids; 3 are mine. They weren’t allowed to hit and bite and scream and break stuff. Kira’s mom couldn’t have been more annoying at bedtime. Instead of approaching bedtime in a calm, relaxing way, she ratcheted up the stress level by speaking too loudly and using too much expression. When reading a bedtime story, use a very low, relaxed voice so they have to be quiet in order to to hear you. This isn’t the time to use a lot of expression. Turn the lights down low, get them under the covers, then start reading slowly, quietly. Yes, Kira is a real handful, but the mother was such an instigator!
