I have conducted landscape mainteneance for years and have finaly invested in a set of toro mowers ( push, and 42" zero turn) with my grandpas old yard machine rider for the hills. I have about 15 lawns many of which are push mowable. Many small and medium lawns are quoted $40-50 in attempts to aquire the job. I do hesitate on pricing with bigger lawns though, any tips or formula?

larger yards...think abt what you want to make per hour and estimate how long it will take and go from there. works just fine for me. i want $85 per hour. I have large yards that run about 45-60 min to cut, edge, blow, etc. so therefore i charge accordingly

Follow up question. You mentioned we don’t have to add a ton of services to be big and profitable. However, if we did want to reach that $1-1.5M mark, do you think services like aeration, overseeing, weed control/fertilization, and dethatching are needed? I’m in a town about the same size as bellingham.
@MikeAndes4 жыл бұрын
We have scaled back our services over the past 2 years at the Bellingham location and continued to grow by 50% during that time. Scaling and growing revenue is easier (in my opinion) the less services you have and the SIMPLER the systems are. More targeted advertising, less skilled labors, less margin of error.

I will let him speak for himself at conference and share as much as he feels comfortable in terms of his salary etc. (although in the video I made a few months ago I think I dropped some clues) lol I think he would agree that it is not a “brother special”. It is treated very much as “business”. He has a meeting with me once per week (which is less than most of the new franchisees starting out). He was a school teacher pre-COVID. Nic (employee at Augusta for one year) is starting his own independent franchise next Spring, so that will be a good example to answer that part of your question👍🏻

$12,000/employee is possible but keep in mind they have Command Center behind them doing the office work, calls, emails, organization. So they are very efficient routes and schedules. The Bellingham shop does about $12-16K per month per field worker.

Taxes would be around $3,571 / Mo at 15%. Labor seems short, for a full month you'd need an additional $1,390 for the helper to hit $18/hr so thats an extra $4,961 in expense (taxes and labor), bringing net down to $6,977, really about 30% profit. Doesn't factor in quarterly bonuses for the manager either, but still pretty dang good. I'd be saving it all for marketing in spring, and a truck / equipment for the next crew. Once you stop growing and have 5 crews doing these numbers is when you'll really see that additional profit.
@MikeAndes3 жыл бұрын

I have to call a capital BS on this one. Wow! Where is your material cost on your profit sheet? You verbally tell us he is landscaping/mulching, but no list for materials! Let's face it. At best, doing the services you describe, that office is running at 20% profit MAX before your franchise fee. You know it and I know it. I owned a national franchise for 10 years and know first hand what a rip off it is. I was paying 15% of revenue and that was 50% of my profit. You franchisees need to bail on this guy. You are in voluntary slavery right now and you don't know it.
