@DCS4DVetTV19 күн бұрын
@wiwa23 I find it does a lot of things the average simulator pilot will not know they worked in. If you turn on failures and play with some of the fcs system failures and engine failures, you can resolve a good bit of them within the Modules designed features. You can use almost everything in the jet. Of course the depths of the MFDs sub menus are still not released, but it's really close.

Was there ever like "Aw crap, I gotta do this again" moment when maintaining the Hornet?
@DCS4DVetTVАй бұрын
@Tonsofcraft fuel tank diving. I flew around the world, fixing bad transfer fuel issues in the main fuel cells. There were times I sat chest deep in fuel on a doghouse in the tanks for hours. That's probably the Aw crap times.

@towbie I think you need to consult with ED and help them get the hornet closer to full fidelity especially when you say APU won’t start without that one test.

Very cool! I've been working on TAMMAC software upgrades/enhancements for the past couple of years, so anything Hornet-related usually draws my interest. DMC-105 and -106 aren't too bad to work with, but dealing with the ancient -104 boxes has me pulling my hair out. We tried getting them to let us go out to China Lake for flight testing ("you want a software guy in the back seat to see how well it works for real, and not just on the bench, right?!"), but no luck. 😀

The three questions i have with this block of Hornet i haven't been able to figure out are.. 1. Can you sync AP with throttle control to achieve a TOT somehow. 2. Is the hud capable to allowing hafu symbols when using the jhmcs without having to display both. 3. Can you slew the tgp to a txdgp from a datalink member? Been scratching my head with these for quite some time now. Love the content! Now if I can figure out how to reboot the avionics and electrical systems mid flight.. lol...
@DCS4DVetTV25 күн бұрын
@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ 1. You can use TOT to tell you when you are on time or slow or fast and set atc to meet the tot numbers in a way. 2. The hud doesn't allow for hafu . 3. Data link in this jet works, and you can receive a stable or symbolic representation of the ground target tract from another aircraft. You will see in the JHMCS as well the stable target and can adjust the tpod with the JHMCS and ground target select by placing the jhmcs overlay on the staple and selecting TDC select. Pod will align to the spot you select. Adjusting will allow you to gain a target lock for laser guided munitions. As far as avionics, just start pulling breakers in the cockpit and see 😅🤣😂
@_Jake.From.Statefarm_24 күн бұрын
@@DCS4DVetTV Hahah will do! I was hoping you could just set a mark point on shared ground targets but that would be too easy haha. I heard from a few guys that flew the F-18 there was a way to allow for only the hafus to continue through the hud view (along with the other very limited information when it passes through) but it might have been the next block or a newer jhmcs. Should have made clear I didn't mean in the HUD but passing through the hud with the jhmcs. Love the content again! Thanks for answering that!
@DCS4DVetTV24 күн бұрын
@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ ahh, yes, pass through with the jhmcs in non blink is possible and some lock information but not the real hafu symbols into the actual HUD, it is limitedto display information. I have a mod, though, for the jmhcs that allow for color track vid of enemy and colored mfds hafu symbology. I love it but have no idea if it's a real thing.
@_Jake.From.Statefarm_24 күн бұрын
@@DCS4DVetTV I have that mod too but for some reason my mods aren't working. Probably gotta reinstall it on OVGME again properly. I was going through the JHMCS options but I couldn't find that setting. I find that to be the more complicated settings for the hornet if I'm honest! haha

Hey- So, I noticed your logo, which caught my attention, as I'm a DCS newbie (relatively speaking) who is disabled, so I'm interested in finding out what that's about, AND... How did you get color DDIs on the L and R monitors? Is that a mod? Still the -C variant? I have questions! And you have a new sub!

@kevykevTPA We are a discord group of veterans and disabled persons and people who are not disabled. I am a 100% permanent and totally disabled veteran, and one other founder is a disabled civilian. We formed to just hang with folks that appreciate our abilities but we also advocate for our Veterans community. Wd are sponsored by the Disabled American Veterans organization Rome Chapter 95. The screens are a mod for just sweet visuals 😁. I also run a mod for the HUD the JHMC system as well. Check user files in dcs for the fa18c mod and realistic HUD with JHMCS II. Ths is for the support and we fly Foothold missions casually as we form our future squadrons in our discord. We also have events for prizes with DCS Dogfighters discord and Fox3ms.com. we are building an organization that supports a learning environment with a low stress casually feel.

How close is the sim to the real thing?
@DCS4DVetTV3 күн бұрын
@kaizaro4377 well, as close as you will ever get in your study, office, or living. A large section of DDI pages are missing, and a bunch of maintenance stuff is haof working. I gotta play with a lot of the systems to see how they made them kinda work in ED. The flight isn't even close sound wise to my memory. Terrains move to fast and the visuals from altitudes is not real close unless you use VR. In VR, things are so much better and immersive. The Navy Sim was better but hey, it cost a few milly and I got mine under 5k 😅🤣😂.
