I'm embarrassed to say, I went into this trial not know anything but what two or three headlines read over the years, and I just assumed Depp was guilty AF. Then I saw the testimony, evidence, and an even deeper look showed the disgusting and nefarious tactics Heard was using from the start. I was wrong and believe Depp did not hurt her the way she tried to tell everyone and their mother he did. It is because if this I hate being called a Depp bot or fanatic. I'm not a celebrity stan at all. I'm here for truth and justice and true crime.

@SilkyShish His abuse wasn't particularly well known at first, it's likely because it's not particularly uncommon for people to avoid criminal charges with abuse. Even then, for a major celebrity, they can get away with it easily more often than not. Speaking for myself, I was aware he had troubles with alcohol and drugs so I just assumed it came with the territory. It was a learning experience for a lot of people. Most of us heard it and just said "ok" and moved on. It took the right people that knew more than the public did to signal boost what was going on before your average person would see the evidence that showed what she was doing.

I had no knowledge of the case before the trial... knew who he was as an actor, didn't follow him, knew nothing at all about her. I watched the pretty much the whole trial, from where Eve Barlow was thrown out on. It was a fascinating and illuminating process and I learned a great deal. And by the end it was really clear who was guilty and it wasn't Johnny Depp.
@SilkyShish
@SilkyShish Жыл бұрын
I remember when Amber filed the TRO, my gut told me something was off about that because Johnny has never had any prior history of domestic violence from any of his long-term partners. And because I am an abuse survivor and also work in domestic violence, I have had cases where the alleged "victim" turn out to be lying where they falsely claim to be of been abused. Yes, people (and women) DO LIE about being DV or rape victims. So, I was neutral on whether Johnny was an abuser because I don't believe everything I read especially mainstream media. I need to see and hear facts. And then I heard the audio tapes in 2020 where it is so clearly obvious she was the real abuser and he was the victim. I sometimes think it is a shame it took the trial to wake up more people into finally seeing the truth that he was in fact not the abuser, but the victim. But, at least now the majority of people have woken up to this fact. I remember telling people back in 2020 he was not an abuser after hearing the audio tapes. And people like me were in the small minority who felt Amber was the real abuser. Not anymore!

My issue is that you keep saying "we". But you mainly mean yourself. I don't doubt that YOU were convinced by AH looking like she acted, but I do believe there ARE people who only supported Johnny because he was Johnny. If it was a minority or not, we simply do not know. It wasn't so bad in the end, cause he most likely really is innocent, so the right person won. However the documentary suggests that he probably would've won anyways, just because the huge amount of support outside of the courtroom, even if he was in the wrong - as long as the trial was live-streamed. And to me that leaves a bitter taste on this case ...

This! Like I had a minor bias for AH because of the allegations I had heard of in the past and the outcome of the UK trial, but after that testimony? It was clear who was lying. Never answering directly, always twisting words (pledge vs donated, really?). The extreme incidents of abuse but not a medical record in sight (broken nose, being assaulted with a broken bottle). Trying to say not a single paparazzi picture showed anything due to make-up, like what kind of magical foundation does she use??? And especially that depostion they showed snippets of, she just didn't come accross like a victim. Rolling her eyes, smiling. I watched the whole deposition afterwards and she was so rude and her lawyers were constantly interfering to help her testify, disgusting that she got away with her false claim for so long.

I started watching it. Made it about 10 min in before it dawned on me that the villain was going to be the public instead of AH. I stopped and remembered why I believed JD. I'm a survivor of an extremely abusive marriage (years ago). AH's own words carried the promise of violence, the reality of life with an abuser- one so slick that everyone thought I was insane. Even tho I'm the one who at 70 still carries the physical damage. I'm guessing the jury realized the same behaviors.

(It was nice not to be influenced by media and to be able to make up my own mind). I like many, was pretty frustrated with Amber based on the evidence that was presented . She definitely came across as someone that was lying. I truly dont think social media impacted the outcome of the case at all. I do think that being able to see the case helped people see what was actually going on rather than relying on media to inform us. Anyone watching the case was able to make their own judgements and the majority I am sure found Johnny Depp as the winner in this case. (Lets be honest Amber testifying was the nail in the coffin 😬). I doubt I will watch the Netflix series based on what I am seeing about it.

For what it’s worth- when I heard that Johnny Depp had been accused of abusing his partner (I didn’t know who Heard was at the time), I was upset *because I immediately believed the report*. I’ve always loved Johnny as an actor and I was invested enough to be disappointed, but I totally believed he had done something wrong because a female had accused a male of abuse. I’m not proud of this. So, I definitely didn’t go into this case having sided with Johnny, though now I feel shame about having reached any conclusions beforehand. If anything, this case taught me that the next time a public figure is accused of something, I will be doing my conscience best to remain neutral until as much as possible is known. So I think the idea that everyone was against Heard because how dare she mess with Johnny is just not true. I was convinced by the trial that Heard was lying and was abusive herself.

I watched all 3 eps, specifically so I could see and understand how the KZbinrs content was used. Very curious to see how the next weeks will play out, as in, will more of the featured content creators legally or otherwise object to this use of their IP without permission? All creators who’ve spoken so far have said they did not permit this use. The non-lawyers among those featured seem publicly livid, the lawyers featured are still… (expectedly) silent. I’m waiting for the filings. 🍿

Maybe it will shock some people but being French and him with his ex-epouse living there, we had a lot of feedbacks, stories about them. Vanessa Paradis is known for being outspoken and honest, and once she gave her feedback when joining him just after it all happened, I was sure he never did all Mrs Heard allegedly said happened. Therefore, like I refused to see Megan & Harry's serie, I will not watch this one... Thanks Peter for taking time of doing this video 🙏🙏🙏

It's surprising how many people have raised this, but in one of the photos AH took of JD showed a 'stage' bruise kit (as in makup kit that's used by stage actors to show a bruise) on the table. It's the photo where JD is asleep on the couch with his hand in his pocket holding a melted ice scream AH gave him to hold. Additionally, didn't she slip up in the trial and call it a bruise kit rather than a makeup kit to cover her bruises? Yeah she didn't recover from that well.
@PhoebeMc
@PhoebeMc Жыл бұрын
She sure did! And when she walked thru the application of the "bruise kit," she inadvertently described building a bruise for the different days of colorizing to get the right effect. Anyone that's ever attempted to cover a mark, scar, bruise, hickey in hs (lol!!) knows you wouldn't apply this last. It's not a concealer & even if it were, that doesn't go on last, either. The pic of her at the LA courthouse getting the TRO, before I knew much, I thought looked "applied." A bruise with any makeup over it isn't going to be brilliantly colored like this thing she had in her face! She wanted it to stand out, but I bet up close, it was fairly obvious to someone who knows how to apply makeup. Also, those of you who know KNOW you don't just have a bruise perfectly round & no discoloration from impact anywhere else. She literally had a big round blueberry (although much lgr) in her ck! My take, anyway.

@@PhoebeMc Yeah, that bruise outside the courtroom looked like someone had lighly applied charcoal on their face. Absolute giveaway, considering JD was out of the country for like 5 days. LOL I love to hear the reaction from the jurors when they saw that. I mean, did AH they they're that stupid, they don't know what a bruise looks like? I wonder what AH's legal team were thinking with this kind of evidence? Possibly FML? 😂😂😂😂

@alec1984 I wondered how many other women, especially, caught that. I've delved into makeup artistry much of my life, but I didn't know if listeners in general would catch that or not. Good to know it was as obvious to you as it was to me. I saw that & threw up my hands & just thought, Cone on, people!! Elaine said she ALWAYS wore makeup & then AH swears understand she was obviously not wearing any makeup, so who's telling the truth? The whole crap about Rocky stopping her and telling her not to put any makeup on, too, was just a little too much detail for my liking. That made it stand out even more as hogwash! Hell, TMZ should have been able to see it was totally fake!!! And maybe they did, and maybe there was no reason to say that, or if they did, it would sound like they fell for AHs bs, but we know they DID fall for AHs crap! Doesn't mean we're going to!!

This doc series tried REALLY hard to appear unbiased. However, the bias was extremely obvious. It didn't sensationalize to the level of some Shouting heads shows (many of the worst aren't even political, they are sports). However, the spin was quite clear. All the "questioning" are in exact alignment with the Heard team's talking points. ALL of them. It also used the tired trope of the "the media" as the enemy, while being completely oblivious to the hypocrisy of such an angle - Really? you dont see your docudrama as "the media", get a clue. The only qualifier in the propaganda piece is they are a bit more specific, calling out social media, even though much of the footage was standard media. It also only painted a negative spin when the social media was in favor of Depp, but made little mention of the how the media (standard and social) had vilified him prior to the trial. It wasn't until Heard opened her mouth that the tide really shifted.

I'll say this - they didn't seem to be knowingly misrepresenting the bits of the trial itself they covered in three episodes, unlike the way they made me and you and Peter and EDB look like cruel, opportunist fools, Depp fanatics, and tabloid fiends with no actual interest in the details when they know that not to be true. I mean, they included and heavily a featured a masked mens' rights advocate whose channel only had 26k subscribers AFTER the trial and who I'd literally never seen in all my Depp coverage consumption. They had to really dig to find that guy and then turned around and portrayed him alongside EDB and others who were "suddenly" covering the law. 🤣

Thank you, Peter. I have heard that some, perhaps most, of the social media videos used in the Netflix documentary were used without permission or compensation. As this documentary was publicized, I believe in the UK, and then purchased by Netflix, selling content 'without permission' is that somehow considered fair use or do those whose content was used without permission or compensation perhaps have some legal standing of some sort against Netflix and/or the original creator of the documentary? One of the sources of content that was not compensated or asked was Andy Signore from Popcorn Planet. I mention him as I see he has a couple of uploaded videos directly speaking of this and something that you can easily verify on your own, if you wished to do so. I find it particularly interesting that content creators content was pulled and used for a broadcast media production, especially given the drama and backlash that several outlets expressed about social media creating content for financial gains, and then to have that 'stolen' and sold to the public, repackaged is baffling to me and something I am immensely curious about. Thank you for considering my question/comment.

They may have reached out as a courtesy to inform them, and made a discretionary payment or even arranged a licence, but because of the type of production that it is, they are allowed to use material in its original form in the documentary. @MichelleMoe86 - That's not. It's probably easily fixable by disputing it though, and sending a Cease and Desist to Netflix (if he's based in the US), and a Letter of Intent to C4 in the UK. @@EpicTutorialTips While a docuseries is able to report real life events, I question the legality of them doing so using footage that is recorded and copyright owned by another individual. Had the docuseries creators used actors and reenacted events, that would be OK. Even broadcast media is unable to use someone's content without consent. If I record a tornado from my home and post it, ABC cannot just yank it and use it for the news unless they contact me first and I tell them OK, unless I post it along with some sort of prior consent, as I recorded it with my phone or whatever, so it is mine under copyright law. Even still photos belong to the photographer, or the person who purchased full rights of use from the photographer. Music, same thing. So how can someone piece together other peoples work and sell it to Netflix? I don't think that is legal.

I have always got bad vibes from Amber Heard and a fondness for Johnny Depp, but when her allegations came out in 2016 I believed her and stopped supporting him. I started following the trial a couple weeks in, after Johnny's testimony, and when I was catching up on what had happened so far it made it clear that regardless of whether there had been physical abuse, she had still totally misrepresented their relationship dynamic in 2016 and the Op-Ed. Then rewatching Johnny's testimony and seeing Amber's testimony in real time, the evidence spoke for itself. Of course some people online went too far in their criticism of Amber and some of it could be considered harassment, but all of the criticism I saw came from a place of outrage that she had lied about something so serious and had really harmed survivors in the process. The survivors who watched the trial and shared their experience really informed my perspective on the trial, and seeing the pain and anger they felt bc of her lies was extremely powerful. I still find it frustrating that people who didn't watch the trial will often discredit Johnny's win by saying that it was a toxic relationship and he was most likely verbally and emotionally abusive so the lack of evidence of physical abuse didn't matter. That disregards the fact that they audio tapes that overwhelmingly showed her verbal and emotional were the most compelling evidence in the trial. But it also makes it seem like she was justified in making up the claims of physical evidence bc it was a toxic relationship regardless. But that is not how she has ever portrayed the relationship. If she had given that context it would have always allowed for doubt to creep in. Exaggerating abuse allegations does so much harm to real victims and seeing people flippantly dismiss it is so infuriating, especially bc the verdict in Johnny's favor was actually a positive thing for domestic abuse survivors. I think the media failed survivors in their misleading coverage of the trial and did serious damage by implying that the justice system is biased against them. In my experience, when the court of public opinion turns so overwhelmingly, it is usual in response to facts not just dog-piling. People don't like being lied to.

Im just ready for the movie! People that watched the docuseries and not the teial will be so confused 😂😂 Edit* And the makeup pallet, I dont recall ANYONE hating on Milani for coming forward. Everyone I seen was praising them for that. Netflix made it look as though the majority of the public hated that 😂

Webster's Dictionary would disagree with Amber about the meaning of the word synonymous or synonymously . That was really bad form on Amber's part.

Netflix has blocked Popcorned Planet’s use of his own video footage on youtube claiming copyright infringement, after infringing on HIS copyright. I understand that is illegal. Are you sure you want to support this mockumentary?

I’d be really interested to see what, if there is any, type of follow up with AH’s attorney, Elaine and how this trial has affected her career.

I didn’t watch the Netflix show. No intention to watch Netflix with so many other options!

Camille is a class act. Johnny’s team put on a compelling case. Amber was just demanding to be believed but she didn’t have the evidence to back her up.
