Welcome back to the colossal 135ft Sailing Yacht known as DESTINATION. Last week we watched Jason sharpen his culinary skills as Sous Chef. Now, it's my turn as we set sail from Monaco to Palma.
I've snagged the role of Mate which means I am responsible for everything from keeping a vigilant watch (hello man overboard drill) to engine checks (does not go off without a hitch) and even playing spiderman up the mast (150 feet up in the air!). And, despite our many sea going miles, the challenges of operating a superyacht of this caliber are unlike anything we've experienced before. The contrast between our humble boat and the grandeur of Destination is striking to say the least.
Join us for Part 2 of this sea fearing adventure, where we see if my cruising sea legs are strong enough for a shot at being professional crew. ⛵🌊
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

@17:00 Imagine being 5 (me) in a 12 foot fiberglass dinghy, and having that experience with the largest of the dolphins an Orca. It was amazing, I went from being scared to not worried at all. We were surrounded, visited by a pod while we were fishing, we saw them and wound our lines in despite them not really being on trajectory to tangle with them. They veered in our direction to check us out. I still remember the feeling of connection some 50 years later.

Interesting position for an emergency off button. 🤣🤣 I worked at a programming site many years ago where we coded on and ran a mini-computer (for those too young, it was only mini compared to a mainframe). If shut off in 'emergency' mode it could take hours to reboot, and the off switch was right next to the rooms light switch. We eventually put a cover on it ...

Awe man!!..... NOTHING better than an omelet and coffee with the Winn's on Sunday morning!!! It's STUNNING to me that you guys only have a touch over a half a million subscribers!.... THEN, you got these SILLY pranksters who have 5, 6 or 7 MILLION subscribers doing just SILLY pranks!! THIS channel should be WAY up there with those silly pranksters! You guys run your business, channel, editing, shooting like no other and it's astonishing that you guys only have a fraction of the subscribers of the silly pranksters! You guys should have the 5, 6 even 7 million subscribers!!!! There's SOOOO many people missing out on your work. All that is coming from someone who lives in the desert and NEVER EVER wants to become a sailor in ANY way! I find myself living vicariously through you and watching you guys JUMP into the 2000 foot deep waters was ENOUGH for me. I'm SO glad that you guys do that and NOT me. 16:49 -- INCREDIBLY videography!!!!! 18:03 -- Jason, I'm with YOU my man!!! Nikki can go up 2000 feet and I'd be GREAT with that as long as she's SAFE! I'll stay on the deck and CHEER her on (GO NIKKI! ... GO NIKKI!!>, I AINT going up there!! Yes, I'm a CHICKEN and I'm GOOD with that! I'm a man who knows his limitations! Again guys, your channel DESERVES MANY more millions than your current subscriber stats!! You both have MUCH love out here for you! STAY SAFE you two!!! .... Now for another BORING week before another GREAT episode of the Winn's!!!

The first video we ever saw of you guys was when you were in the Keys and you caught the lobster by the dock of where you were staying. Been watching you since then. We went back and watched all of your previous videos before that and every new video since then. I often think back to the lobster video because, well, you guys were out of your element. Fast forward to now, and wow. You guys have grown into a sea going force to reckon with. Looking forward to continued adventures. You guys rock.

I totally understand that problem. It's common with DSLR's. This is why I use a Canon D9. It has most of the features of a DSLR but it's enclosed so no dust gets on the sensor. There's also an underwater housing made for it. 🎉

The eye contact with the dolphin was an amazing experience. I had that experience as a small child around 8 years old with an Orca. I have to say, that to this day, I have a love yet almost fear of Orcas because of their immense size and having met one up so close to our very small boat that was smaller than the Orca. I think your takeaway will be a little different though, because you are not 8 years old, and your dolphin wasn't larger than the boat you were on or an apex predator.

Nikki and Jason, a great reveal of life aboard a super yacht, without an owner or guests. Beautiful visuals from every angle, but @6:48 to see the constellation Orion so clearly was astonishing and testament to the dark skies at sea few of us land lubbers get to experience with the light pollution in most populated areas. Nice story to share with us. Thank you.

Jason, Nikki, that spot on your camera footage means you have a speck of dust on your sensor. If the camera is a DSLR it happens when you change lenses. Sometimes you need a special loop to see em'.

Great video, your destination is my favorite island. I think the part of Majorca where you docked at might be the "French" part because of the number of french there. I was in the Navy in the early 70's and never missed a shore call to Palma.. I rented a Siat to drive the island and flew for a moment in it. (The car was light and the wind over the cliff lifted it in the air momentarily.) I've watched your videos for a while and have never seen a video on your exercise routine, I know that your diet has a lot to do with your physical condition, but wonder if there is more. Also a video about exploring Majorca would be wonderful.

If the emergency shutdown has been pushed before, to me that is a bit of a failer in the egonomic design. As people move through the engine room you automaticly put your hands places and this should have been noticed and the emergency sshutdown located in a slightly differant position.

That was an interesting adventure and experience for both of you. It’s interesting that when you were high up the mast I had a memory of a similar event where I was around 150 feet up the side of a grain elevator. The bosuns chair at that time was a single piece of 2x6 board about 30 inches wide with a single piece of rope stuck through the board with big knots holding it in place. We had to go up to the top of the grain elevator at 250 feet and I had to be let down with a winch about 50 feet where I had to drill a 1.25 inch hole in the side of the concrete silo so we could get the first anchor bolt and angle iron installed so we could start installation of a grain leg. After getting 4 bolts and angle irons installed, the wind picked up and I got blown 10-15 feet both ways and after seeing lightening within 1 mile the boss decided it was enough for the day and I got to go down 50 feet to the top of the lower silo. Essentially I was working around 150 feet above ground, so I can appreciate how it must have felt for both of you, but we weren’t sailing so it wasn’t exactly the same as you experienced.
