In Kariba Zimbabwe the baboons would lose a limb or two from the propellers on the boats. There was one we called armless. He was very agile jumping into the trees with no arms and the rest of the troop used to help and protect him. 🤣🇿🇦

Why don’t they take their scrap food, bread, bananas etc. and put it in a big pile every day away from the houses. It’s no different than making a mulch pile for a garden.That way the monkeys will know where to go to get the extra food and not be bothering the people. The other thing they can do since they all spent well over $200,000 for their home is put electric fencing up. You would think if they spent that Much for a house they can spend a couple hundred dollars to put electric fence around it.

On our farm in Zimbabwe they were a menace destroying our crops and vegie garden. They were very smart they knew that my dads shotgun was dangerous. That restaurant amongst Baboon area is unacceptable because they have been destroying its natural environment to build this. And why do you think they've put that reataurant there ? They are using those baboons as a tourists attraction to help grow their business. Tourism is a big industry in SA and its wildlife is the thing that attracts them. Gradually though, they've been destroying it to build more and more until it becomes a concrete jungle. Who would want to go down there then ? It is very important to not harm any of these animals. All those different species function in a symbiotic relationship and are each equally important for the ecosystem to keep a healthy balance between preys and predators as well as the pollination of various plants/ amount of healthy green foods for preys which would then in turn determine the weather.

I find this completely ridiculous. These animals are a menace. The one guy with the gun runs around aimlessly looking for something to shoot and all they do is run the other way. That situation with the one running across the tables at the restaurant is completely unacceptable and should not be allowed to happen. Why not give them all guns that shoot plastic balls? Why doesn't the restaurant employ one guy to stand there at all times ready to shoot in order to protect the diners? They're not stupid animals. They'll learn pretty damn quick not to come around anymore. One of these days someone is going to get seriously mauled or even killed. Is that really what it's going to take? Sure seems that way.

Having lived in this geography, know that people (wealthy wine farmers) have taken over the Baboons natural, original habitat more and more over many years for their own profit and gain. Baboons really just want and have a right to a few thousand hectares of their own safe space. Instead of threatening and killing/provoking these highly intelligent wild animals, the wealthy wine farmers could take a percentage from their profits from benefitting from the local resources of this land to give these animals their own space, but instead, poor "human" interaction has created a stress and contentious, compromised situation for both parties. There is always a way to solve and resolve situations with a win-win. It just requires positive, intelligent commitment.

I stayed at a game reserve while in South Africa and we never had that problem. You would see them sitting on the perimeter outside the camp but they never came in while we were eating, so this reserve must have been doing something wrong. The only thing was that we were told to not go out at night, as they, and other wild animals, might come into the enclosure.

Just dart the baboons with anesthetics one by one & relocate them to the wild. Same problem with seagulls along the English coasts. When animals/birds associate humans with food it becomes an unnatural occurence. Last resort is to cull them one by one. Stop being complacent.
