I'm wondering if it might not hurt to put a small shelter in the pen that the male piglet can get into that Zeke can't fit into in case Zeke is aggressive. Might help minimize stress initially too if he has a place he can rest in without dealing with a larger male pig.

My grandpa raised cow, goat ,pigs ,turkey, and chickens. He would had a 1/2 pipe of creek water running through all the stalls 24/7, and tool 8 barrels with lids and put a 50lb bag of grain in wach barrel. And filled to top with water. Wach day he used one barrel for feed for the day. And refilled UT and put at end of the row. Next day he'd use the next on line.wach barrel fermented a week before use. We'd harvest 2000 chickens and 200 turkeys every 12 weeks. Our turkeys were 25 lbs and our chickens were 12 to 15 lbs. One thong I found cleaning them was out of 4 chickens or turkeys 1 would poop on your hand. Pig cracking were our favorite. ❤

Every time I see someone talk about freezers I make sure I let them know that there are fridge and freezer alarms, they are around $20, you can even get them that they send a alert to your phone if they fall below a certain temp. Giving you time to save your food. I also let people know that most home and renters insurance have a plan that if they do fail and your food spoils they will give you a small amount to cover that loss. Mine is $400 ya doesn't cover it all but it helps. It only took me having a freezer fail and I lost over 1000 lbs of meat to find this out. Blessings thanks for sharing. Love those little piggies.

We picked up our chickens a few days ago. They are Cornish Cross. 10 to 12 lbs. They are monsters. We’ll be eating 1 chicken for days. We had to get our last store bought turkey in the fridge to thaw for canning. The hog (the lard is rendered and in jars)and half a beef also in the freezer. My husband said “ Don’t say meat”.💙

Rabbits above chickens.. you feed your pasture birds.. putting Rabbits in suspension cages can add more fertilizer to the ground.. Ima try this .. im building a high roller with chickens on one side and Rabbits on the other.. going over my raised beds this fall and winter before it gets to cold and have to move them to better shelter.. idk if it will work but I'm thinking it will.. ill top off the beds for winter rest and find out come spring

They won't eat the dog fennel because they know it's poisonous. Good thing about it is it is an excellent pest control. Flwas and ticks don't like it. Hense the name dog fennel. People used to use it around their kennels for flea control.

I'd be curious about a difference in taste between your ground-fed and trough-fed birds. At least with fish, more bugs and slugs make for tastier meat. Our future farm will have a building specifically for making. We're planning on putting in a commercial kitchen. :)

If you use the 3-4-5 foot method, you can make sure the corner is 90 degrees without measuring the diagonal. That’s one side 3 feet, the other side 4 feet, then the remaining side will be 5 feet if you eye-balled the 90 degrees correctly.
