The information and technical hands on that you and Brian from Kies are providing to the M340 community is commendable. Thank you for the information you put out. 👍

I did this on my M140i. It's a fairly big difference over the stock 340mm discs in terms of power. The initial bite was much improved as a nice added bonus. I imagine this was mostly down to the M3 pad material being better than stock. Great vid as always Kern 👍

15:32 I suppose the use of a spacer will affect the suspension geometry a bit. I’ve no idea if that will be noticeable or not.

I wonder if other model BMWs with the 6 pot brake calipers and corresponding larger rotors will fit my 2024 M340i?

At 13:13, do I have to break those off because I recently did this brake job and did not take those off. I am running the stock 18s but I don't think I notice any rubbing. Would it be obvious if I was??

Does the smaller size bolt affect the streng of the caliper attachment to the hub? because with the smaller bolt + the caliper spacer, you have that smaller bolt and the caliper moved out so the forces can do more leverage on the bolt....

Do the vents/dimples in the rotors add to more squeak? I’m also in the market for new front brakes and would like to optimize performance while accounting for squeak.

Are you supposed to run F8X brake pads with the F8X rotors? Or do you need to stick with the 340i pads?

Yep they both use the same caliper so pads are interchangeable

Off topic question. I'm a little worried now because i just picked up a 2018 m240 with 49k miles and people are saying i need to replace the injectors... is this true. Is there a high likely hood of them failing?
@Gr1MM2403 ай бұрын
No, if you have a way of monitoring fuel pressure, you can check to see if an injector is leaky, but it's been an exaggerated topic. Just don't idle for more than 10 to 15 minutes, and you'll be fine. I'm at 62k with no problems, only plugs and coils for peace of mind, but I'd do that on any platform at almost any milage for a new purchase.

Hey guys, this is off topic but I’m considering changing my transmission fluid. 2017 540 61,000 miles. MHD stage 2+ and XHP stage 2. Any feedback please?
@triz1hunna1513 ай бұрын
It recommended change every 30k but personally I would do every 10k and there should be a kit online you can buy ZF Lifeguard Fluid or can use Motul ATF VI Fully Synth Automatic Transmission Fluid
@marioeguino86923 ай бұрын
Every 10k seems pretty excessive for transmission. If I remember correctly, the maintenance guide for the 3 series recommends every 60k. Should be around the same for the 5

Keep in mind 1) you need to change the transmission fluid filter, which comes built into the transmission fluid pan (ensuring maximum cost for a basic part), 2) all the pan screws so the new pan feels better about itself having new screws plus your wallet isn't sufficiently emptied, 3) while at it, might as well change a) the rear diff fluid, and if you have xDrive, b) the transfer case fluid as well. All of these things are sufficiently a pain so why not do them all at once. The frequency of transmission oil is a bit of long discussion. No doubt fresh fluid is good for any set of gears. But transmissions, both auto and manual, have a friction material deposited onto their clutches at manufacture that wears over time. In removing the fluid, some of that material goes with it. So, is removing the fluid causing a premature loss of friction material? Given the friction material is meant for the clutch and not the gears themselves, it seems periodically removing of fluid is a good idea to reduce gear wear but at some point, enough friction material will be removed the clutches will need replacement. Hopefully that's some point in the far, far future. Does changing the fluid save the clutches? Probably not. The point of the clutch is to grab onto something despite being covered in oil. I'd stick with the manufacturer stated change interval of 8 years / 80,000 km. While some are skeptical this is an ideal interval, given the clutches are going to wear anyway, not sure more frequent changes are going to reap the benefit many perceive it would have.
