Barca and Madrid have Fan Tvs that make money and only have licences to watch their games,Not world wide coverage,Utd used to do it until the premier league and liverpool,But it got stopped years ago because these clubs were making crazy amounts only because of their fan base and private live streaming for their own clubs,The money in the leagues only went to those clubs with no sharing of the leagues revenue…Only Barca and Madrid got the most and the others got treated like championship teams ,hence why they are now running out of money because of no competition anymore,Barca overspent and have debt and so do Madrid even though they are secretly government run,This is why the prem is leagues above ,It’s a mini super league.

You go back and look at the league tables from the 1990s and early 2000s, RM & Barca were far from being untouchable and it's no surprise that changed just a few years after cutting their own TV deals. They justify it by arguing that no one else was attracting viewers but maybe if they shared the money more evenly that wouldn't be the case now. Makes you think what the league would've looked like if teams like Valencia had been able to keep David Villa, David Silva, Juan Mata. Atletico if they were able to keep Aguero or Radamel Falcao who said in an interview that he felt like he NEEDED to leave Atleti when he did for the club to financially survive. What could've been of that Malaga side that made a UCL QF and then were banned from playing Europa League the next season because of debt. Not all of what happened with those teams was money related but it sure was a big influence.

LaLiga, Seria A and the Bundesliga all need to basically copy the way the Premier League distributes money. You give a higher percentage to the lower teams, they can then afford better players, which will make the league overall more competitive, more enjoyable to watch, and that way you’ll get bigger sponsorship deals and bigger TV deals. The team that finishes bottom of the PL gets around £100mil from TV rights, the team that wins the league gets about £150-160mil. In LaLiga the team that wins the league gets around €120-130mil and the team that finishes bottom gets like €20mil and that’s the biggest difference. You give more money to the lower teams, they can afford better players and it makes the league more competitive.

Real Madrid is currently the best team in Europe, and maybe for the past 5-7 years. Before that, Barcelona dominated Europe for a while, plus Bayern. There's no doubt that Real, Barca, Bayern are in top 5 clubs in Europe currently if we look at their achievements over past 20 years. They had more CL titles, more balloon dors. Even secondary teams in La Liga like Atletico Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla dominated Europa League. Does it mean that La Liga have the best teams in Europe? Yes! However, there are several problems with La Liga. It doesn't have underdog culture, or more precisely, La Liga doesn't invest in underdog culture. You would expect Barca and Real to easily beat teams in relegation zone. But in primer league MC can drow with stock city if they don't play most of the key players, drop two valuable points to win league title. Over years this problem leads to lower audience engagement. As a neutral fan it is not as interesting to watch Real vs Deportivo as Arsenal vs Leeds. We must understand that football isn't local anymore, matches need to be broadcasted on international level and TV stations must have desire to purchase broadcast rights. Such, more engaging matches and leagues gain more audience, sus grow their fan base and sell broadcast rights. To be continued under this comment...

The governance structure of the clubs also play an important role here. Barca, Real, Bayern aren't owned by particular people. They are organizations and cannot sell shares and gain profit from partial sell out. That's why they highly value their TV rights and image rights. While PL clubs are commercially available, they own the land on which they built stadiums, they have fluctuating share prices and individual desire to make profit, which is strongly linked to teams performance on the pitch. Also, private owner make decisions much faster, they don't have wait for majority vote to operate. Meanwhile, they would more cautious of risks. Simply because it's their money, not money of an organisation that they can separate themselves if they want.

The ESL have several problems. First: up until now there is no logical selection of teams. For example, AC Milan will be selected for ESL even if it is eighth in Seria A, but Atalanta isn't invited. The selection process is complete dependent on "history" and image of the clubs, but not performance. It also doesn't have relegation system, do you believe of Real loses every game they will be relegated? Probably no. Which is elitism, not good for development of football. Second: ESL completely destroys grassroot football. Every clubs joining the league will gain significant financial advantage on other minor teams. Clubs with more money will buy out talented players from lesser clubs enhancing their squad and eliminating competition. Just like Bayern does in bundus liga. Third: there are already too many matches to play. MU up until now was playing every 3.5 days. Where in the calendar does ESL wants to play? For clubs fighting in multiple fronts it is near impossible. You can off course sacrifice one of the competitions, but it will also damage grassroots football. Most of the league 1 and champion teams in England give their best just to earn the TV money by playing with PL teams in FA cup.

Blame Barca and Real for your leagues decline. I really feel for the other teams over there. They have all been reduced to mere feeder clubs. Granted, a couple are hanging on to some sort of competitive guile, but that’s dwindling by the year. The PL isn’t perfect, there’s a lot of things I don’t agree with or I’m unhappy about (the referees and oil money being the 2 biggest) but you can’t argue it’s the most entertaining league, and that’s because of the money distribution. The only way other leagues will ever compete is if they treat all teams fairly and distribute the wealth more evenly.
@apan990

precisely, the other 4 leagues focused on giving money to the top clubs and left the rest to rot, now when the consequences of their own actions have come back to bite them in the ass, they cry for a superleague and blame the epl for being fair and focusing on competition and the integrity of the league as opposed to giving money to 2-3 teams and blue balling the rest. serie a for example is the best its been since the early 2000's, lots of competition with like what 7 top teams all fighting for a spot in europe, then juve who have been falling flat for years now want a super league just because theyre not getting the money they used to and arent winning every season all the time.

People commenting that Real and Barca need to share TV rights money with other teams. Do they know that PL has many folds more money coming in as compared to Laliga mainly due to the fact that most people around the world understand English. And most English clubs generate a good amount of money to have their say to get equal portions of TV rights. But guess what, that's not the case with other leagues, where most of the money the league generates is due to 2-3 big clubs and that is down to not many people following the language of that country. In Laliga most revenue comes in due to Barca and Real so they get the biggest cut of it. It's not very difficult to understand. I know people will say it's not good for the league but why would any club share the earnings that they generate.

Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern etc, all spends hundreds of millions between them but the Premier league clubs are now hitting the billion mark and it is only going to get worse. This in itself is creating a sport were there won't be any competition, for example 30 years ago English and Scottish teams and leagues could compete with each other but now there is absolutely no chance with the disparity in finances, I another 30 that disparity between the English teams won't just be with scotland but every single other league and country in the world. Someone on the panel there just said "the Premier league is a super league in itself". Then why do you have a problem with other teams and country making there own.
