This dude's mind is sharp, and I believe everything he said because he wasn't trying to build himself up to be bigger and more important than he was. Some of these former street do0dz that Al interviews will say something like "We were doing $5,000 a day in sales" and Al will follow it up with "All profit?" and the clown will answer "Yeah, that was all profit!" when the original question and answer clearly implied that it was gross sales. Leads me to believe that even the gross sales number was 10× exaggerated but digression is on the breakfast menu today so I'm gonna digress. This guy didn't do anything like that, and his recall of even minute details makes me think he's telling the truth. Good interview! Thank you for not interrupting him twice per sentence like you did to Courtney.

Yeah a smart, humble dude like this is way more believable than some of these stupid loudmouth braggarts who are just trying to relive glory days that only exist in their imaginations for a few bucks. BJ doesn't come off like that at all. There is an interview with another Chambers brother or someone who was a part of that Universe, can't remember the name, but he was really well-spoken and humble, and just carried himself in a dignified "old money" kinda way. He was a top dog back then and did 20+ years but really downplayed his success. I think he was maybe even ashamed of it, given that it was obtained through the destruction of the community.

In all of the interviews I've seen him do he comes across as incredibly likeable and the kind of guy, who, even if you're buying stuff from him, you can still end up becoming close friends with. If BJ was born in the Midwest or even out east he would've been very legitimately successful. Unfortunately he was born in the Delta and we all know how things worked down there for people whose skin might have been brown, a real dumb way to judge a person.

@devinyoung40076 жыл бұрын
BAD ybi connect too
@russellhamner4898 Жыл бұрын
I heard he got killed over some straight BS in Leavenworth too. Like he had paid a kitchen worker to steal him some fruit but the guy dumped it on the way out because they were shaking the workers down especially thoroughly that day. Told Felix he'd have to get it the following day or something, and words were exchanged. USP Leavenworth was still a high security "Level 5" penitentiary back then, a crumbling old joint full of lifers and killers with nothing to lose and a lot to gain by building a killer reputation. You had to watch what you said to everybody, even if you had a band of paid inmate bodyguards like Felix Mitchell did. Words over fruit by an arrogant former Oakland drug lord who thought he was untouchable got him touched up real nice... butchered in his cell. I didn't personally witness any of this (I was 5 years old at the time) but I pieced it together from various sources online who I believe to be credible for several reasons. So don't chime in with "THAT'S NOT HOW IT WENT DOWN!" unless you've got a more accurate version. Or a completely INaccurate but more entertaining version.
