Genesis 6-11; Moses 8 | January 31-February 6
Lesson 6
“Noah found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord”
#OldTestament2022 #comefollowme #comefollowme2022 #realtalkcomefollowme
What are the characteristics of God? Does God ever get angry? Does He punish His children? What do you believe about God and why?
These questions are hard not to ask when studying the Old Testament. Thankfully, Ganel-Lyn and John are here today to not only help you navigate these questions, but to also guide you in reframing Old Testament narratives. They discuss the protection and safety of covenants, God doing everything for the benefit of His children, and continued learning and progression.
Invitation: In what ways have the covenants in your life protected you and carried you?

Thank you for another wonderful episode! 😊👍❤️ When you gave the example of Waterproof, I had an inspiration thought. My thought was that Christ is the living waters and when we turn to Him and accept His Atonement, both for removing sin and enabling us to become more righteous, then we can become "Waterproof". Another thought I had in relation to these scriptures and water, was when I considered the Ark as a type of vessel that helped keep that which was sacred, safely inside. Similarly, when we accept Christ's Living Water, we can symbolically become vessels of Righteousness. Last thought, thank you for mentioning that often times when we try to "build a tower" or go through this life with a "fast pass", we can become confused and vere off course. We have also tried to be independent, especially in the mindset of the Western culture. However, your reminder to get help from God and others who can help us and who have our best interest can help to build unity, trust, and personal humility.

I totally disagree with the comment made by Jon Bystrom . You’re discussions are such great and thoughtful insights and brings the light and truth that is in the scriptures and makes it relatable to us in our day ! Thank you so much, I’m hooked! You both are so inspiring, it’s a lift of joy to add to my day and warms the heart of good things to ponder on and research ♥️👍🏻

Thank you for keeping Christ the focus of our study and lives. Oh how we need Jesus more than anything in this difficult, oft-painful world.

Indeed. Focusing on Jesus is always a good idea as we strive to live in this world but not be of it. And thank you for listening! ❤

I like your sweater vest. It adds color and warmth. Also, I have never thought about building a tower higher than what the flood waters could reach. Such good insights this week. Thanks

Haha. The sweater vest might make "guest appearances" from time to time. Thanks to Ganel-Lyn for that amazing little insight about the tower!

Thank you guys for sharing, teaching and inviting the Spirit to teach us. I wanted to ask if there is a VIRTUAL Real Talk journal for those of us who live abroad, but would still like to purchase?

I love your conversations and what they teach me. So I already commented earlier that I love John's sweaters, and I hope he will continue to wear them, but I'd like to ask why there are no links to the clothes John wears?! :)

Now THAT is a valid question, Amy!! Why isn't MY wardrobe sponsored and advertised. Hmmm. I think I'll file a formal complaint with the REAL TALK team! Haha. (Actually, I probably won't. But thanks for asking!!) 🤩❤

Imagine seeing a rainbow on a foggy morning. The suns up. Lots of FOGG. BUT NO RAINBOW. Light has to pass through the water particulates at a 45deg angle to produce light refraction AKA a Rainbow. Physics Bro. CB

Yo !!! Bro Rainbows did not exist before the flood. Per scripture "The ground was watered by a vapor that covered the earth."

So, Noah built the Ark 4500 years ago preparing for a global flood. There is ice in Antartica and Greenland over 800,000 years old. Additionally Pando, the oldest living aspen tree system on earth, is in Fish Lake Utah and is dated to at least the last ice age. A global flood would have melted the ancient ice and killed Pando. You can't ignore this science even if God wants you to do so.

I think your use of PITCH as an image of covering our sin is nice but a stretch of your imagination. Pitch is a natural source of TAR used in building structures & boats during biblical times. The pitch would have made the Ark watertight. I think that is the only practical application of the term. I'ts nice as a sin covering but begs the practical.

The Hebrew word for pitch is kpr or kippur which means a covering, an atonement. The pitch is a practical thing that also symbolizes something else.
