This might sound crazy but you inspired me to actually have a child! I found your Montessori videos completely on accident and it was like a lightbulb went off and I was like this is how I want to raise my child. My husband had already been wanting to have a baby but I wasn’t quite there yet. After I finished binging your videos I was like okay we can do this. Two months later I was pregnant and now I have an almost 4 month old baby girl who is my world. Your videos and e course have taught me so much and I’m so happy to be raising a Montessori baby. So weird to think but my baby wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for you

Also want to add that finding out you were a dolphin trainer was icing on the cake for me because I’m a big cat (lions, leopards, tigers) trainer as well as a zookeeper (my bachelors is in zoology) and I find myself using operant conditioning with my own child lol

If it wasn’t for stumbling on her videos I would be sucked into the constant “I need this new gadget” for my baby. I always thought about “winging it” but I knew I needed order as how that is how I thrive myself but didn’t know how to go about it without being authoritative. Couldn’t have found her vids at a perfect time! 39 weeks and waiting for baby girl to come out(:

Hi! I’m a 70 year old lady that love to learn, even my granddaughters are already older, 14 and 21, so I don’t watch your videos with the intention to use Montessori. However, I love to see how little children learn whenever they are properly guided. Congratulations, you are doing a great job. Love all your videos

Can't agree more about the "sleeping association." As moms, we just need to follow our hearts and our children's needs and even if it isn't "by the book," that's alright. We do what's best for our family and that's all that matters. 💪👊👏

Thanks for this! So many videos involve having a husband who can take the kids for a few hours each day, or hiring someone. We’re being very careful right now because of the pandemic and my MIL is immunocompromised. I work part-time teaching virtual classes for the public school district. Grandparents take her for a couple hours four days a week, but then the rest of the time I just scrounge for extra time to grade papers, plan, etc. It’s just nice to see someone in a similar situation.

Ashley, I am so grateful that I found your videos. They are full of great ideas and are very helpful. I wish these were available when I was a young mother! I love and share your parenting style which is extremely different from the way I was raised. My generation was taught to respect adults while children were very frequently disrespected. I believed in showing respect to my children also. I am sharing these videos with my daughter who is an awesome mom to my grand children. She also believes in gentle parenting. You do a great job and are a beautiful mom. Your girls are absolutely precious!

Hi, Ashley, just want to share that my son (who is 3 days older than Mia) also had what I called sleeping regression recently. He insists we being in the room, lying down next to him, holding his hand until he falls asleep. It lasts for about 5-6 weeks, and now he is back to a perfect sleeper again. Hope Mia will be over this soon :-)

Wow, Ashley, you are amazing! My body recently almost shut down from extreme exhaustion. I have been posting in Instagram and Facebook almost daily since September, in December I started a KZbin channel and recently started blogging. I love it! But it's hard to do everything while I homeschool my little one and do the housework (no dishwasher or vacuum cleaner or robot cleaner ... 😩) It has been difficult for me to keep up with everything, so I had to slow down my posts on Instagram until I can find balance again. I don't have family close to me either. I understand you perfectly. A hug 🤗 and keep creating valuable content for us. ❤️

When my kids go to sleep, around 21,21:30, I usually watch a video or two on KZbin(like now) and fall asleep by 23. I have to get up at 6:15 for work, so in the evenings, I'm deadly tired. I wish I have more energy and stay up longer. There are so many resources for Montesori activities and materials, that I would like to print or make for my kids, but having a full-time job, house, husband... I just don't have strength for everything. Truth to say, I'm feeling a little guilty for not having energy to do everything whats on my mind. So, way to go, Ashley! Your videos always inspires me to go back to Montessori and implement it as much as I can. ❤️

Ashley, thanks, great video again. Just a question, do you tell the girls how much you work? Although you chose to stay home, you work a lot. And I think it's so important for dautgherts to see mothers work or to here about it, so it's not jus a dad thing. And second question: why don't you hire an assistant to do the communication with brands, I am sure there are many young marketing students who would be thrilled to work for you :)

Thank you for sharing so much with us, I find your videos and insight to be a wonderful source of how to bring Montessori principles into a real world parenting life. You are so well informed every vid is overflowing with rich information yet still very practical so it feels accessible. I always feel motivated to learn and do better after watching :) One life tip I learned from this video: by having a structure for your time/work that you stick to, you’re also making it easy for those around (hubby, kids) to know when it’s your time to work or it’s their time with you. Looking forward to working through the e-courses too!

Needed to hear this, thank you ! My little one is 7 months old and I a m just starting to implement montessori into our lives. We have her playroom all set up and she is so perfect, such a gem. So blessed to have her. I have been struggling with chores lately even though I have been living minimally for years. At the end of the day I see the kitchen destroyed and I struggle so hard because I don't clean during the day during her naps. I just want to relax , hard to push myself sometimes.

Turns out most of my free evening time just has to be work to make the rest of it work.

You mention doing some of it in the morning but surely you don’t have enough time to clean the whole house and do laundry and dishes.. ? I’m on maternity leave at home with a 5 months old and live in a 2 bedroom condo and I can’t seem to find time 😅

I do it in the little “chunks” of time throughout the morning and afternoon, whatever needs to get done. :) (Edited to add: so in the example where I might sneak off to do laundry, that’s not the only time. I’m doing that repeatedly throughout the day, whenever I can find a moment! ☺️)

Thank you for all of your hard work! Do you clean as you go throughout the day? Also, do you meal plan in the evenings too or figure out something to make on the fly? Doing breakfast, lunch, and dinner is tons of work too!

Yes, I just clean in the moments that I find time. Sometimes the girls help, sometimes they play while I clean. And meal planning I usually dedicate like 20 minutes to figuring out which meals we’re going to have and then adding necessary ingredients to the grocery list before the shopping is accomplished for the week. Right now, Mike has been doing all the shopping due to Covid so that I don’t have to take the girls into the store with me, but I think I’m going to be switching back to grocery pick-up soon (which means I’ll be running out to grab the groceries in the car with the girls once a week).

Thanks for sharing! Have you addressed in your videos what to do with a 13 month toddler who wants to be picked up esp when we’re busy trying to clean and cook lol. Even though they’re close to us or on my learning tower it’s not working. My family thinks I should put him in a big playpen but that’s not Montessori aligned so that he understand we have “our own space “ for certain activities.

Oh my gosh, the domino affect, yes, I think about that often too, how I ended up living this life I’m living......... my mom is the one who “knocked over that first domino” 🥰. The image of you and Mia holding hands as she falls asleep is just the sweetest. It won’t last.... just continue to treasure it 💜. I have a question to do with English. Please keep in mind that English is my second language. In this video, and honestly, many other KZbinrs I follow too, I hear you say “Mike and I”, when to me it sounds like it should be “Mike and me”. Is it accepted either way? What I usually do when I’m unsure is a trick my English teacher (I had 1 year of English in high school) told me. He told me to drop the other person in that sentence and say it like you would without mentioning the other person. Am I wrong? Sorry, really don’t mean to criticize. It’s just one of those things I notice so often, and I’m wondering now if my teacher was wrong....... It was British English I was taught, so maybe it’s different?!? I know there are difference between American English and British English.

I think the rules here are the same... I’m just so used to saying it that way that I don’t even realize it. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

@@HapaFamily I keep hearing people say it like you do, so I was just wondering. I’m pretty self-conscious when I speak English, even after having lived in the US for many years, and I question myself a lot.

If the phrase being used is the subject of the sentence, then you'd use "Mike and I." Don't worry, it can be difficult to learn but it seems like you're doing well! Another way you can think about it would be in terms of "we" and "us". For example, if you say "we have date nights on Saturday" then it would be correct to say "Mike and I" in that instance. If you're saying "it's just us in the house" then you'd want to use Mike and me." 😺

@@Michele-bm1zu thanks, that makes sense. The English language is so confusing to me at times. So many different ways you can say the same thing. Funny, even after all the years that I’ve been in the States, I still have people ask me almost daily where I’m from, but our kids are always amazed that people can still tell. They don’t hear my accent at all 😱😳😊

Obviously your schedule is super busy, but have you tried a zoom yoga class? My mom has done Pilates for years and her local Pilates studio offers all their classes live on a zoom-like platform, and she really enjoys it! Im sure yoga studios near you offer something similar I’d you don’t want to wait till post covid to start yoga again!

Hi Ashley, I recently found your channel and have been working through your Montessori videos. They're incredibly helpful and insightful. I also loved your BLW videos. In this video, you said you got rid of the jumper, exersaucer, pack n play. I'm curious as to what you did with bebe when you need to use the bathroom or wash dishes?

Did Mia get a vaccine at the time the need for holding hands started? Thats what it was for us. We were able to help our daughter to sleep without holding hands again by pretend play with a teddy who needs to go to the doctor to get a vaccine. Also a childrens book with pictures of medical utensils was helpful. I think that normalized the experience for her.

Something that always unbelievable weird to me is how early children go to sleep in the US! I'm from Italy, my 19-month old goes to sleep btw 9.30/10 pm. My husband and I both work full time and when we come home we have so much to do that once she goes to bed we have no energy or time to do anything else 😂

Think it's a Mediterranean thing. Like how in Spain dinnertime is 8pm+. I would have long starved by then 😄 Living in Belgium. We eat dinner at 6pm. My 14 month old goes to bed at 7 - 7:30pm.
