Join real teachers JC and Simon as they react to the 1995 Michelle Pfeiffer hit movie "Dangerous Minds". They will break down the movie from a teacher perspective, and let you know how realistic and/or effective Michelle Pfeiffer is as a teacher. They will also enjoy a sneaky few glasses of some affordably priced white wine.

its a good remark, "you are not the psychologist", thing is most of the kids worldwide dont have acces to such, what you do then as a teacher, in a situation, where you know if you dont take responsibility, nobody does?

My niece/goddaughter, who was then studying education back then, described this as a very inspiring movie for her. Same with the movie "Freedom Writers".

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your reactions and ratings. You are both very funny. Makes me wish I had teacher's like you when I was in school.

Louann Johnson was a real teacher and this movie is based on her books about teaching.

These two guys wouldn’t have lasted one week in my school lol. They weren’t comfortable discussing the fight scene lol

Amazing how fast this movie went from a movie everyone wanted to wstch, to a movie that disappeared into obscurity, too bad as it was a great movie.

Yes, as soon as the bell would ring. We would get up and leave. Most teachers said nothing, unless it was something specific being said which was rare. They might hold the class, but could only do it for a minute or two, or we would be late for the next class. As for security, I'm in Chicago. We had an actual police station in my high school, with usually 2 to 4 cops that would rotate. Not to mention 20 to 30 serious security guards on top of that. Its Chicago. I was class of 99', and seeing this movie really hit home when it came out. Because even our elementary schools are rough and I've seen these exact same things in 7th and 8th grade.

Yea u get like 5 minutes between classes sonic they hold ya too long u get into trouble for the next lol. One of my classes was so far from my locker I had to take my books for both classes to one or I'd never make it

Actor Wade Dominguez, who portrays Emilio Ramirez, passed away about 3 years after the film's release.

Great reaction! These were more innocent times before teachers decided it was ok to start abusing children.

Before? Lol my dad was in high school in the 80s and saw a teacher throw a kid into a wall. That teacher was later my volleyball coach in the early 2000s and he was still a gym teacher 😅.. “before” 🤣🤣🤣

@SamiLo2 Sorry if I hurt your feelings with my comment above 🙄 My point around 'abuse' was to do with sexual abuse. Kids were more well behaved in the classroom back in the 80's, so physical punishment probably helped with that, although your example was at the extreme end.
