I've sent a message to "Rob Squad movie reactions". They are married, and both are teachers in Oklahoma. I suggested to them that you all should do a shared reaction. I think it would be amazing, and I hope you all will consider it. Love the channel.

I was at school in the 60`s in the UK and my desk was like these. it had an inkwell and we used a pen and nib. Being a lefty the ink was always up my sleeve, Thank you Lazlo Biro for a decent pen.

HELPFUL HINT - Watch the movie. DO NOT talk over it. I think I really could've enjoyed watching you react to the movie. I could not enjoy you not only talking over the movie but also missing important dialogue. I know you edit these, but the problems I'm seeing are not due to the process. Use the pause button when you want to talk. Good luck, guys!

Another brilliant bit of British social history in a movie is the 1968 film "Up the Junction" based on a BBC play. Based in Battersea a poor area of London. Battersea has come a long way since those days.

You can`t equate this time period with your perception of what is correct today. Correct the future. Do not rewrite the past.

It's the problem of presentism - judging the lives and actions of people in the past by today's standards. I don't know how many times in the past 8-10 years I've heard someone say some version of "they should have known that what they were doing would be unacceptable in the future" -- as though today's mores are the ultimate expression of propriety and justice.

I love the idea of real teachers reacting to this amazing film. However, talking over the dialogue is frustrating. You and your viewers are missing important content. It would be nice if you were to pause to make comments. Just a suggestion.

I love this movie but you two had 50% too much dialogue with each other. Just constructive criticism sirs.

The flick is very similar to movies like “Dangerous Minds” and “Stand & Deliver”, with that history of troubled kids that are given and opportunity that were never before until meeting a new teacher that even though while with problems get to them at first both sides start to grow closer to each other, by respecting both ways, and talk down to the kids without putting them down, but being honest with them making them realized no matter how they are in the school the real world is gonna hit them hard and to the ground if they do not get ready better themselves. Like in Sister Act II (a similar movie to these ones) “If you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere, you better wake up and pay attention.”

That song and movie (To Sir With Love) has had as very special place in my life, while I’m not a teacher, both my parents are, and one of them even ended up being my teacher on 3rd, 5th and 6th grade, so I think a had a special privilege to see first hand how hard a teacher job can be a times, (from both sides of the curtain), and the impact and difference a person in that position can make on a kid or teen when both sides meet on common ground.

Mark isn`t actually a teacher. He is an engineer who can`t get a job, and takes this as a temporary measure.

You haven`t picked up that they are in their last term. Normal education is a bit late in the day for these pupils. Who obviously have been failed by the system.

Yes. In fact, it isn't realistic to speak of Mr. Thackery as a "teacher." What people overlook is that he only got the students to behave and show interest when he threw out academics and books and made his classroom a free discussion session. Doubtless, the students did learn some things that benefited them, but this isn't school as it was intended to be. Even a vocational school has to teach actual subjects that take work and diligent practice to learn - cosmetology, auto mechanics, woodworking.

I don't understand why you chat through all the scenes while looking at each other. How can you possibly KNOW what is going on in the scenes, when you aren't listening or watching most of it? Play the scene THEN pause and TALK about what you saw in the scene and how you feel about it. You are MISSING a lot. You totally talked through an important scene when they were telling him why the girls couldn't take the flowers to a "colored person's home" Thackery was NOT a teacher, he is an engineer and only took the teaching job in order to live until he could find a job in his field of engineering. The whole reaction was very frustrating and disappointing since you were more interested in chatting with each other, than paying attention to the movie. How did you enjoy it when you spent the whole time talking? Sorry, I have never seen a reactor or group of reactors that talked over as much as the film as you two did. Hope you do better next time. I won't subscribe at this time.

The song Lulu is singing at 7:00 is called "Stealing my love from me." I believe it was on the movie's soundtrack - which is a hard to find album. But the song is on KZbin.

Well there was, in a way. The girls, nor the boys, could be seen entering a "colored person's home" (to take the flowers to their fellow student, whose mother died) because "you can't imagine what people would say."

This school is located in a poorer working-class neighborhood. The parents both work and are poorly educated themselves as you saw from the women on the bus in the opening scenes. The kids are not being brought up with manners or good values. The parents probably have little time for their kids so the only attention they get is when they act up. I believe these kids see a pretty bleak future for themselves.
