Thank you for the videos, I’ve benefited so much from these. In the hope I can give back a little… the forums suggested Woolies (not that Woolies!!!) - Small Window Channel for a permanent fix for this issue. It’s a felt covered U-shaped rubber to replace the felt. I bought 3m to do the non plastic runner bits on both sides. Using your method it worked a charm. Thanks again for all the hints and tips.

Perfect timing again! I cleaned out the rear window channels on my pickup and the felt washed out in rotted clumps. I took it for a drive and it rattled worse than the marbles in a praycan. I'll get the replacement parts on monday and do the repair just as you did.

I have one of these to do so its useful to watch you do one first! Im probably going to use some silicon lubricant spray to help the seals slide in the channels and against the glass.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
You could use silicon, but the issue is the rattling not the sliding
@jamesbarker48084 жыл бұрын
The part number is correct for a station wagon with one sliding window, there is also a short rubber buffer to fit at the back top corner.

@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын

@nickboylen68734 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the Garrison Outfitters profiles rubber channel to take the felt’s place? Very expensive, but should last much longer and stop the rattles. I also have rattles from the bottom, having used generic window channel in place of the felt and managing to stop the upper rattles.
@BritannicaRestorations4 жыл бұрын
These are about £10 per side and the originals were 23 years old and as you can see quite easy to change
@nickboylen68734 жыл бұрын
Yes, I’ve done it before myself, but the new felt only lasted a few years before the rattles returned, so I did it again with some U-channel from Wolves trim using pretty much the same method you showed. I did make the mistake of using that channel around the two corners, but the way it puckers in the bends made the panes very hard to close, so I put felt back in the front edge and corners and keep the channel along the top. That is working, but they have now developed a rattle from the plastic channels at the bottom. I got a set of those Garrison seals second hand but unused for £30, so they should be worth a punt. It’ll be some time before I get a chance to fit them, though.
@Mr_Springy3 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m working my way through your videos, very informative and of immense help working on my 90. Regards this job i had felt in the top and bottom channels but its rotted away. I want to replace both, would you start with fitting the felt in the bottom channel 1st then fit to the top or vice-versa. Thanks Andy
@BritannicaRestorations3 жыл бұрын
Andy there should not be felt in the bottom but there should be a plastic runner so it does not adsorb water

Hi Mike, what about replacing the vertical seal between the 2 panes of glass? Mine don’t seal & wind blows through.

You have to remove the window and strip it down to do the seal as it slides in from the top or bottom of the window

Thanks Mike. Just about to do this on my 90. I have found some felt strip from Woolies, 3mm x 25mm x6ft for 2.50 each so, for a fiver plus postage got to be worth a try. Looking at my old strip it looks to be about 15mm wide so I shall probably have to trim it down a bit. Are you able to confirm the 15mm? Cheers. www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/1717/black-felt-strip
