I am new to the rc boat scene. Have been driving cars all my life. Just picked up a Proboat Recoil 2 18 inch last week and I have to say I absolutely love boating! And your videos help me a lot in terms of tuning and stuff I really enjoy it!

I tried afew props on mine today and am finding it tough to get it just right the 52H from ose was pretty good but doesn't plane very easy and got a little warm by end of run so tried 1650 and 2050 octuras and had all noise no action just won't hook up like stock prop?? then ran smaller x648 stock and a modified/detongued x450 and they were pretty good on temps and moderate speed but not finding it easy to get quicker without getting a little warm may get into 48 to 50 diameter with more pitch next since bigger was a little disappointing and warmed internals a bit more than I'd like.... definitely a learning curve this time... I put the same 1650 blade on my 36" sonic and it was super fast but almost burned her down! got wayyyyy too hot! but then struggled to push or plane on the 48"? glad we have you helping us figure this boat out! thanks for sharing!!! keep up the hard work! and have fun!

Testing and tuning takes time even up too a few months to get a boat dialed in. Thanks for putting out these videos as they are helpful to getting base lines on the boat and ideas to types of props to run. I think each time you run the boat, it’s slowly getting dialed in. Finding a good prop just takes time This week I’ll be getting the sonic 48 so I can jump in with some tuning, prop trials as I have a few ideas. Then a new changes too.

your not the only one who feels that pain! i bought multiple props and spent several hours balancing and sharpening them only to be dissapointed by the performance once tried on the new s.s.w. 48" now have props cant use for anything else that were not getting job done....part of the learning curve i guess we all feel your pain! dont have any professionals helping out by sending perfect props....lol... gotta do the hard work ourselves for the love of the hobby! keep diggin' it is still an awesome boat! just take time to perfect it.

I don't think you should worry so much about all these people complaining you are testing if it's going faster, but it's porpoises slightly, as long as I still had control I'd be fine with it. You're obviously right on the edge. The point is to go as fast as possible and then when you get there try and figure out how to iron it out. You can't worry about Karen and Kevin trolling the waters.

I like it when you stick to your word, thx. My tought on this boat is that proboat makes new products for wider audience. A big boat that jumps is cool 😄. It's all marketing just like the jetstream I thinkg. Maybe you can try props with more tongue? They accelerate faster I've read on a real boat page.

That 10/50 abc 3B might do well on the Oxidigger. Its probably a good high rpm prop since it has less rake. (Would be a cool test

Sweet.. Another prop test video! It's crazy how much a minor adjustment can affect the boat so much! It looked like those bigger packs set the bow down in the water more, bleeding off your speed. It seems to me like the Super Sonic wants less pitch and more tongue to cure that cavitation? Just my noobie guess🤷‍♂BG4L🚤💨

Did you move the battery tray forward or is it still in the stock location? Seems it’s gonna be tough to get this guy above 70 without addressing the stability issues. May run a little more wet until the sweet spot prop is found but I think it will be better in the long run when you start going with the aftermarket systems.
@VetteWay2Fast
@VetteWay2Fast 2 ай бұрын
Really want to see what the xlx2 hydra can do in this boat. Debating getting one as I think the stock firma is near its limit with the weight of this guy, especially needing to run a little more wet than factory to have a more enjoyable scale speed boat. Also debating just going 12s in mine to run more wet for stability and incrementally up the speed.

B , I need to add one ounce of weight to boat, it's about 5 minutes to flip over! So should I add to top of flood chamber, or lower on the side near the batteries to help it flip faster! Thank you

I agree, shouldn't be turning 50k rpm, I'm thinking the 10k difference in rpm with the 2 vs 3 blade was interesting and probably on par.

pfff, II understand that you need to make a lot of videos to keep your subscribers interested, and your enthusiasm is great to see. But... you test a lot of things and you know it's not going to work, it's just to make more videos to finally get to a reasonable optimization. When I say that the hull is probably not flat, I can see it on your images, it's enough for the bottom to be “convex” or to rise by 1mm over the last centimetre, and I'm not talking about the keel line, but on the sides! A real tester would have removed the trim tabs, rectified the hull flaws with putty, tried to center the boat between 30 and 35%, increased the battery weight, and only then played with the propellers. On the other hand, I don't know of many V-shaped hulls that can benefit from propellers with a P/D ratio of 1.4. I think a 2114 would probably be best, or even a 2014, or a three-bladed 50x1.4. Otherwise, your test shows that the construction of the strut is bad, but this is due to the rear motor position. I still appreciate your work, years ago, you were a newbie, and your knowledge is improving , and yours rewiews are quite honest. Vincent

add some ballast, I have a very flat 29 inch mono (similar to fsrv) and it constantly tried to take off at 55+ so I added ~200g of ballast in the nose. Runs perfect with a very forward cg, the further forward (40% and forward) the better it runs. Has about 1.5 degrees of negative trim too but only the ballast fixed it

if its 34" or less its made for 4s for a reason. the record for 4s hydro is 10.22 seconds a lap. which is about 80mph average...that includes through the corners. anyone can stuff an oversized power plant in a boat so its not really impressive. what actually takes skill is refining the system to the point you can break records with the actual voltage its made for.

This is a good benchmark for me! Just swapped a TP 5860 and seal 300a into a 46" gas mono lol, 47mph so far- BUT still have lots to iron out! That was 2nd run ever, sideways into heavy chop, rudder breakaway screw was a little too loose and rudder popped up, ESC and motor were 140 150 ish after 7-10 speed runs, and that's with a 74mm 3 blade CNC so it's cutting at full throttle, 75mph is the goal >:)
