I used to think Bill Maher was a Liberal Hipocrite. I have realized he is not a Liberal at all even though he still calls himself one. He is a Realist. Irony: Maher's show moved from ABC to HBO to avoid the effects of viewer criticism - HBO's business model gets payment in advance directly from viewers as opposed to the broadcast networks payment from advertisers (who are sensitive to viewer criticism). Thus, the show didn't have to worry about criticism because the premium channel had already got their money. But that same invulnerability from conservative critics also shielded the show from liberal critics - Maher can call out liberal bigotry, hypocrisy, and egotism with no fear of economic damage.
