Tonight's show was terribly disappointing. Bill dismisses anything Bernie related even though he supposedly supports him and desperately tries to steer Susan Sarandon into talking about movies, her appearance, and pop culture because it's obvious otherwise she'll get too many cheers for Bernie. Every show since he came out in support of Bernie he frames every question in the context of Hillary being the definite nominee. He quickly moved off the topic of war after cutting off Amy Goodman and declaring that war is the answer to ISIS. Really Bill? You don't think civilian casualties have anything to do with people hating the USA? Not even worth discussion? Bill doesn't give Amy the time or respect she deserves for actually being a substantive, progressive journalist (who also got some of the biggest cheers). Is that why he added a bullshit Bono segment to keep the show from having too much substance? He kisses Arianna's hand and makes her out to be some sleep genius with her common sense fluff cause that the other guests even poke fun at. He totally dismisses any discussion of the debates by calling them boring which is a convenient way to not have to bring up any of Hillary's dirty tactics, lies, or all of the issues surrounding her which would be the main things discussed if they were talking about the democratic debate. Why doesn't he give Susan Sarandon more support when she says Hillary actually needs to earn peoples' vote? I guess some actual progressive pot smoking atheist will come along eventually and do a show like his but for free on the internet and with better perspective.

The wage gap is an earnings gap. Your boss pays you less for the same work? They're breaking the law... Your boss pays you less because you work less hours, are less flexible, have less experience/education, lower performance reviews OR didn't negotiate for higher pay rises... that's not a "gendered wage gap" The latter ONLY effects people lucky enough to even have ACCESS to that kind of work. You want to fix the wage gap in a VERY real way, without being a sexist piece of shit or focusing exclusively on people with IMMENSE privilege already? You provide a living wage. You legislate against exploitative employment practices. You ensure men have the same rights that women do to time off (this isn't controversial, Scandinavian nations have done this for YEARS. It works >< Apparently it's more important to fight for time off for periods, because that will TOTALLY solve the earnings gap...) Atm, the part of the wage gap that effects women the worst/most comes not from gender, but from the personal choices of women happening to be undervalued/exploitable by employers. Part time employment is paid less. Flex time is paid less. Sociable working hours are paid less. Work that is ideal for people with care responsibilities (say, parents) is paid less. None of this requires discriminating against men to fix (and yes, there are so called women's advocates that suggest men should simply be paid less to "fix" the gap) You fix the way work is rewarded for EVERYONE and those demographics worst effected will benefit the most from it. Simple. Doesn't work as a political tool to serve identity politics.

The fix is in, the system is rigged, and Bill has sold out. I know he basically endorsed Bernie once or twice, but what's with the total dismissal of Bernie the last few months. I know he has also expressed his discontent with Hillary, but what's up Bill? For one of the few guys, with such a platform, to completely ignore such an unprecedented grass roots, progressive movement, is beyond depressing. Right now when it matters most, especially with Cali coming up in June, Bill needs to hammer Bernie's message home, nonstop.
