I’m a 19 year old boy who grew up without a Father. This poem fits right into place with what hs happened to society over the last fourty years, like the piece of a jigsaw without the picture to follow for guidance, society always lives or dies by the things it creates and by what it makes. This is how our hands and minds have died since our industry has been decimated and then redistributed leaving another fall of man, without his or her hand to eye coordination in place we begin to die as a nation, slowly at first then exponentially once we reach a certain level where training for the future has ceased, and are then unable to fend for ourselves.

I grew up around proper men who appreciated women, were practical, and could fix things and protect their families. They didn't feel the need to prove themselves by showing off or taking unnecessary risks. They just exuded masculinity. I met my man when I was just 18 and we have been together for 50 years. We had teachers and Scout Leaders who were of the Great Depression/WW2 generation that just oozed testosterone, a few of whom were Veterans. We were surrounded by men and women who showed us how to be masculine without being overly aggressive. We had bullies of course, but something we didn’t realize at the time was that most of those bullies came from some of the few broken homes or had terrible family dynamics at home. My Dad taught us that it’s better to say “it’s my fault” and suffer the consequences, than to lie about it and cover it up. The punishment was double then. Unfortunately today, kids don’t seem to get those life lessons to the same extent that we had (like the bullies in my day) and we’re now seeing the results.

It made me tough and realize as man, no one is coming to save you. If you want something you have to grind it out, take the pain to achieve. He told me many things about the second world war when he was captured by the Germans to work in the "arbeitseinsatz" He learned me many things about how people can act in these situations. He also took me into the wild places that were behind our house. He thought me to find berries and learned what was edible in nature. I still remember our skating in the middle of the night watching a full moon which made it so special with all the snow. I was a girl of eight years old, and now I am a woman of 69. The lessons he learned me are valuable until today. This is what man or father has to do, even if you are not a boy but a girl. I still love being in nature and the silence in nature. My parents were together until my mother passed away from cancer. My father was a passive aggressive narcissist. He thought it was his job to raise my brothers and my mothers job to raise me. I was upset about that for many years as the sexist discrimination was sometimes unbearable which is why I left home when I was 14. Both my brothers had to deal with more of the verbal abuse from my father than I did, he came down much harder on them. It negatively shaped them for the rest of their lives and neither of them have done anything with their lives where I was always running my own business and working to get ahead. So having a father in the home is not the answer, having an emotionally balanced healthy masculine father and mother together would be the answer. My mother suffered greatly because of my father's toxicity, which I think is to blame for her early departure from midgard. I wished as a child that she had the means to leave him, and that any person living in a home with a narcissist would leave them, better for the children to not have a narcissistic parent in the home. The damages caused to children because of a narcissist parent lasts a lifetime.

I learned from my dad, who grew up in the great depression, that working hard for what you have, can make you appreciate it more. It is better to be humble and kind. I enjoyed this video.

In considering how i would generally define a man, i'd say that a man is a grown male that provide for stability. These modern male influencers however project instability and therefore i am not sure that they can be categorized as men. I think boy is appropriate term.

Good day Bjorn, These talks are always enjoyable as there is plenty to learn from you. This modern world of ours certainly is a land of the fatherless, I can speak to this as mine did the ''go get smokes and not come back'' at the age of 3. There were many times where having the absence of a father worked against me, as when it comes to some of the regular mainstream sports I had no interest (Locally they're rugby, cricket and soccer - South Africa) which already separates a person from their peers, our living conditions were also strained as we were 8 family members in a 3 bedroom house, my bedroom was in the lounge, often one meal a day which consisted of half a potato, some pea's or carrots, and a small chicken drumstick or some minced meat. The reason for me mentioning this is to add context. This, in addition missing out on some of the core elements which usually come from a father, such as basic mechanics, plumbing, carpentry meant that I felt, less masculine than my male friends at certain points, primarily through my educational years. As everyone knows, children can be pretty mean to one another and I was by no means the popular kid, this was perfectly fine with me as it meant that I had plenty of time to run around in the bushes and for me to spend my childhood on the seat of a mountain bike. Getting to my primary point, not having a father within my life was tough but it meant that I had to discover exactly who I was, and I had to learn the hard way that you cannot lie your way into friendships with peers that would otherwise not accept you due to financial status' There is true freedom within honesty, glad I learned that eventually. When it comes to identity, and Hollywood, it would be easy to see young men within our world as foolish for looking up to heroic figures projected to them via modern movies, unfortunately though, one cannot fault those without guidance for doing so, as they're simply fatherless and trying desperately to understand who they are and what their role is in our world. Not having guidance can be torturous within itself. I say all of this because maybe there is someone out there who also feels as though the last good examples of men out there are either found within the pages of comic books or right here, on KZbin within figures such as yourself, you have certainly provided guidance for me over the many years I have followed you. With a world full of malicious liars, tricksters and deceivers, trust and honesty are extremely rare. Thank you for being a trustworthy role model to the youth who so desperately need it. Skål

My father is about the best example i could have hoped for. Strong, patient, kind, humble and always lives with integrity. I admire him but i do not envy him. I do not buy into the silly ego, ultra agressive, arrogant guys that promote their "masculine" brand. I would say however that todays world and the majority of todays women are not worthy of the self sacrifice that is the centre of true masculinity. Why make a a beautiful banquette when it will only be ravaged by those who are just as happy to eat from a trough? I will go on living my life, trying to be a better person, to enjoy each moment and to be a blessing to those around me. I will not however shackle myself to a wife or submit to government or other social authorities who neither deserve or appreciate it. The social contract is broken. Hopefully a new contract can be forged once this system burns.

I am 55 now, and I remember at 13 being told by my father that I needed to be thinking about what I was going to do with my life, how I was going to support myself, and that I needed to make those decisions because adulthood was coming fast. When I was in high school, we were expected to be young adults, not children. Young men, not boys. 18 was the age of expected responsibility, and young men and women went off to college, found a trade, continued with the job they had during high school, or joined the military, all with the idea of getting out on your own sooner rather than later. Our parents didn't send children off to college. They sent young adults off to better themselves so they could become mature, productive adults. Today, "the system" extends childhood, fosters dependency and group-think rather than individualism and self-sufficiency. Today, far too many parents are sending children off to college, and adolescence has been artificially extended into something I call "tweenagers". Tweenagers are people age 20+ that go to college and either fail out or get a degree that is useless for supporting themselves, and/or they expect their parents and fellow citizens to take care of them. Tweenagers are made, not born. The fault of their existence ultimately stems from poor parenting, though it is thoroughly enabled by the media, the education system, and modern-day society. The powers that be, the would-be kings and queens of the world, don't want innovative, free-thinking men & women, real humans, they want bidable, meek, obedient sheeple. The man-boys you speak of? Males lacking maturity, manhood? Those guys are the true source of toxic masculinity. They're man-babies, Peter-pan punks. Sad, weak, and ignorant. There is a cream rising to the top though, a silver lining to the cloud. There are still boys becoming young adults becoming mature men, due to fathers, uncles, and grandfathers like you. When society as we know it collapses under the weight of dependent tweenagers, humanity will be carried on by those we've managed to teach reality to.

"The man-boys you speak of? Males lacking maturity, manhood? Those guys are the true source of toxic masculinity. They're man-babies, Peter-pan punks. Sad, weak, and ignorant." The ones you're speaking of are those who were raised by single mothers. A single mother CANNOT turn a little boy into a man. She cannot give him the life time experience of what it is to be a man because SHE"S NOT A MAN. She CANNOT give him what she does not possess. Half of all children being raised to today are being raised by single mothers.

@@dreamingmusic3299 exactly, and it's a sad truth that grandparents also can't replace absentee or unkown fathers, or mothers. Those without strong family values suffer for it, and bring woes upon society, unknowingly.

I watch your videos often and find them interesting. The one which stayed with me was your description of man's place in nature being a place where he can urinate freely. That struck a deep chord in me and got me thinking. Masculinity in this form is primal. However masculinity in my thoughts cannot exist without femininity as the two are ends of a single spectrum. Some men can be very feminine in their ways while some women may be masculine so there is an overlap I'm not thinking about sexuality here but rather about individual nature. It is just about who we are and what we learn to be. For my own part I am a strong male but I need to temper that instinct to make me socially acceptable. This is okay by me and I do this by cultivating a wider range on the male/female spectrum which benefits me as a whole person. The negative masculinity as you describe it is so transparent in the modern world with its hollow machismo and it is little wonder there has been a reaction against it. You are one of the few who can actually argue the case for 'real' masculinity which makes you important as the balance needs to be redressed. Toxic masculinity needs to be challenged but I fear that filming yourself frying bacon with an axe will not provide the credibility necessary to challenge the negative stereotypes. The chats with the coffee hit the spot perfectly.

True masculinity is all about doing your very best to be (above all mentally) strong to protect the women, the children, the elderly, and making their life save and comfortable. A true masculine man believes, consciously or unconsciously, in the value of the Sacred Feminine, in his own heart and in the Universe. When Yang overpowers Yin, Chaos will come. When Anima is overruled by Animus, man will be weak. Any man who exploits women, children and fellow man, though he might be rich and have big muscles, is not masculine. He's a degenerate and an utterly lost wretched soul. Any civilization that doesn't respect the Sacred Feminine (which has nothing to do with feminism) and true masculinity will not survive.

Thank you for addressing this! It's shocking to me that there are actually many people supporting him because he was deplatformed, ignoring that it was after such atrocious attack on his girlfriend. Disturbing trend of young guys buying into that behavior and I worry things will only get worse because of it.
