Sold my 2020 F450 Platinum about a month ago and just got word it maybe involved in recent recall for fuel pump . It had 74k flawless miles with about 20k pulling a 24k 40’ 5thwheel the way we traveled. Decided to go gas since I was getting a smaller travel trailer. I ordered a 2025 longbed KR 7.3 . So it seems timing worked out , I won’t have to worry about recall on the 2020 . Can’t wait to get new truck. Keep up the great videos.

They all have issues. U cant even compare a new 6.7 ho to the 7.3 i had both and both had the tremor package. I got around 7 to 8 mpg in the 7.3 towing our 13k fifth wheel range around 200 miles same camper same trip one year apart i got 12.2 mpg in the 6.7 ho if your traveling a lot range is a huge deal. In my opinion. Going through the mountains the 6.7 just doesn’t care no noise no screaming. I feel i could never go back to gas after my experience.

I switched from a power stroke to the 7.3 gas in a F550 dump truck. Works great.....does everything I want it to do... Does like the gas....but I only use it locally. Previously owned a Ram dump truck with the 6 4.....it was a dog.

As a diesel tech I would go with a 7.3 gas up to 15k lbs. Above that I would just upgrade to a Freightliner M2 chassis.

I currently have a 22' ram 2500 Big Horn with the 6.4, which I bought used last February. I recently sold my bumper pull TT and looking at a 5th wheel later this year. We will see how that goes and then maybe looking at a new Chevy with the gas. I just think Chevy is giving more for the money. Appreciate your videos and time. Thank you.

Well. The stock 7.3 diesels ,stock 12 valve and 24valve Cummins are way more weak than the 7.3 Godzilla. I own 10 diesel trucks and 1 gas (6.2 f250). The gas is used for pulling 15k and under on average. I actually prefer it over most diesels until the weights get heavy. I am waiting on the 7.3 used market to come around to where I can experiment with them. I can speak from experience that the 6.2 is better than the 7.3 and Cummins in almost all situations.

Have a 2017 diesel 2500 cummins with the manual and drive a 2022 f350 SRW powerstroke at work. I don't see any scenario where I would buy a diesel if I had to replace my Ram. Would likely be a Ford or GMC with the gas engine. That said, I seriously doubt the diesel you "smoked" was even thinking about racing anyone with a trailer in tow.

Just ordered a 25’, 7.3…planning on running a 295/65R20. Not towing heavy max would be 15k occasionally. Do you think I should go 4.30 or 3.73? The 35’s will be slightly larger than the 34inch highway tires. Don’t want to give up too much high mpg unloaded.
@rockie3076 күн бұрын
Not alot of difference between the two. If towing heavy alot 4.30 if not 3.73. If it feels like a dog with the 3.73 you will still think so with the 4.30 and might opt for a different engine. The difference isn't significant with the 10 speed.
@AZTruck6 күн бұрын
@@trumpurace1635 I would most definitely go 4.30. Empty there is very little noticeable difference, when towing the 4.30 gears is better suited. The majority of trucks have 3.73 gears and those guys all say it makes no difference, shift down a gear and its the same. Its not the same.
@whitelightning51675 күн бұрын
Again as I've commented/ asked before, how are you towing that big of a 5th wheel? Yes towing weight you're fine, but payload on that truck has to be right around 3,000 pounds. So it was said a dry weight of 15,500. That should put that at a pin weight of right around 3,000 pounds. Right there you're maxed out payload wise. Then you continue to say you loaded all this other stuff plus all the people, you have to be overweight. If not, please explain how because I have the 5th wheel prep package on my tremor, but I'm afraid to get a 5th wheel toy hauler and be overweight.

Say what you want but I’ve see a lot of folks with around 3-400k miles on that 6.7L powertrain with emissions still intact. That’s impressive. I think Ford has that powertrain figured out. Also, no one legitimately believes that if the Godzilla and 6.7L power stroke lined up towing or not towing side by side with the same gearing that the Godzilla would out pull or outrun the power stroke right? Right? I mean, power numbers, physics, data and numbers don’t agree. At all 😂 hook them up frame to frame. The Godzilla would be crying, lol.

Was your total weight, truck and camper 19,000 or was the camper 19,000?
@slidewide19996 күн бұрын
I wondered the same thing, but 19k total is a pretty small trailer. So with a 19k trailer he’s probably close to 27k total, that’s the weight I think he’s referring to. 19k total wouldn’t even be enough to talk about heavy loaded performance.
@TermiteBenny6 күн бұрын
@@slidewide1999 yea it almost has to be 19,000 trailer weight. When we hook up to our toy hauler we are a total of 27,000 with the golf cart in it.

I personally would never buy a gas truck again. I absolutely hate the way a gas engine tows, you are constantly pushing it at high rpm’s anytime you come to a hill. I also will not own a emission equipped diesel so I will be keeping my gen 3 Cummins. I am a diesel mechanic, and my truck is petty modified, so power is no problem as it makes 640hp to the tires and still get 22mpg when you keep your foot out of it.

You’re a mechanic. That’s the only way to afford repairs on diesel trucks. Regular people will get killed at the shop with repair bills.
