I am a nurse and back in the 80's I was working on an inpatient psychiatric unit and one of my patients was a young woman from Israel. She told me how all young men and women had to go through military training. She was a lovely young woman who had gone through a lot at such a young age. Indeed they have compulsory service. Everyone in Israel needs to know how to defend themselves. They are outpopulated by their enemies by 4 or 5 to 1 Israeli. And they have been attacked 7 or 8 times so it makes sense even if there is some trauma occasionally. Honestly the United States should do this. As someone who served in the military ot changed my way for the better simply by being a purely meritocratic organization that teaches you to be humble and treat your fellow military like a brotherhood (with sisterhood too). They wouldn't have to be in a combat role especially if kept stateside where they are doing logistics etc it frees up space for more voluntere fighters to stay on. Finally it would give everyone a good chance to save money and start adulthood with the necessities needed to try and get ahead if they so choose.

I am an Iranian vet of the Iran-Iraq war in the 80s, member of an Airborne unit rescuing Iranian fighter, and Bomber pilots who were hit behind the enemy lines. You should keep in mind, that the major General Barak, was himself a legend of the Saret Matkal unite and himself, involved in so many Operations as a young officer of this unit. This particular operation was very similar to a previous operation this unit carried out very successfully in the 70s against the PLO in Beirut , ” Operation Spring of Youth”. If I am truthy informed, the General himself was dressed as a very nice-looking girl on the streets of Beirut, walking with some good-looking young men and “ladies” attacking one of the main objects of the PLO at that time. You should bear in mind, in that operation, there were no actual “ladies”.lol Anyhow, In this documentary, forever reason, some elements of this wonderful operation kept secret. So I will keep them secret too. Well done Israel!
