The SAS was formed in England at Coldershot Barack’s in ENGLAND and my father was one of the first 20 men to form the SAS regiment. I have all his medals and it was not until he died that I actually learned that he was SAS when I found a invertation to a SAS reunion. His Name was Arthur Sharpe. I am now Around 80 years young and I just want to put him on the internet.

I’ve always held the spec ops in the highest regard. My Dad served in Vietnam, my son is a Captain in the U.S. Army and my stepson served in The Navy. Special operators are a one of a kind breed of soldiers. The Navy Seals and SAS working together is awe inspiring. Fantastic job by all involved to pull off this rescue mission!!

Served in Vietnam? You mean stirred things up in our region making neighboring countries fighting against one another for US gains by using democracy, etc as excuses? Meddling in other people's business long enough you'll probably be able to attend your son and stepson's 'grand 'ceremony'.

There is no force more capable of CQC/hostage rescue than the British SAS. The stories you won’t hear about is the reputation that makes all SO/SF forces praise them as the best. Our SF/SOF units are phenomenal, but they always go train with the SAS. BTW, it was silver squad from DEVGRU(SEAL/s) that killed the British hostage with the grenade.
@JuliannaClementi
@JuliannaClementi Ай бұрын
@drp1bb856 The Seals don't go training with SAS. It's called cross training. SAS are there to learn too. And if SAS is so capable why did they need Seal Team 6 to help them with their own British hostages?? None of the hostages were even American - the title of this video is completely inaccurate. American Seals were there risking their own lives to help the British save their own hostages. Quit trying to pit Brits against Americans because that's what this is especially when you included the bit about the accident with the grenade. Which btw... Americans were also during that mission helping the Brits once again as well.
@drp1bb856
@drp1bb856 Ай бұрын
@@knyangal Julian did I hurt your fefe’s? Yes we train with SAS, just like we train with Israel. Now for some desperately needed knowledge; at the time of this mission the man in charge was also the OIC from Robert’s Ridge and what happened to John Chapman. Operation Red Wings was originally a Marine mission, but they needed air support. When they asked for the 160th that same OIC told them no and said NSW will handle this OP and we know how that turned out. RIP fellas. That same OIC told SAS that NSW must be an element to this OP, and that’s the only reason NSW was involved. Again, nobody will boast they are the best, but we have all the gadgets, gear and cool tech. The Brit’s don’t. They make up for it with skill and that’s just fact.

I was all for giving your comment a thumbs up until I read "More than that, I am glad that I don't go to war zones doing charity work to make myself feel better." I honestly had to read it twice as I believed I must have read it wrong. What a messed up thing to say. People risking their lives to help others in need, for FREE. They are not even earning money like the armed forces are. Dude that is *almost* on par with saying Surgeons, paramedics ect must be doing their jobs to make themselves feel better. My only guess is this must come from some disgusting bias due to the current gen..I won't say that word to keep this relevant ""War"" in Gaza? Regardless of the reason it doesn't change how messed up that is. For the 12 people who have liked that comment at the time I type this, you should be ashamed of yourself (excluding those who may have liked it for the first part only of course)

Let’s NOT call the SEAL who threw a fragmentation grenade without knowing exactly where the “precious cargo” is was NOT an Army Special Forces soldier, he was a Navy SEAL. That’s why the British did not trust the SEALs by themselves, they insisted the SAS be lead. I was in the CJSOTF in Bagram when the drone feed showed a frag explosion; the senior SEAL in the OPCEN shouted “who the Fu¢k had a frag in their kit!” Only specific folks carry and/or use fragmentation grenades in hostage rescue. Unfortunately, for several years we went too far with SOP’s forbidding their even be issued! Bamako changed that when the French showed up to assist the lone American who was fighting back, because of the usefulness, they are not excluded from the load out, but their use is only when there is zero doubt where the hostage(s) are. There are reasons why Delta assaulters fire hundreds of thousands of bullets, so they can hit very small targets. Tactics are often written in blood.

Sheer selfishness y those do gooderd, they are told about the risks yet they ignore the warnings. A few SF lads have died because of NGOs and their ignorance. Always great when our boys do their jobs with such professionalism, but sometimes, the obvious question has to be asked why aid workers who go and put themselves in harm's way do it and expect to be rescued!

Thank God for these special forces. I hate to think what the world would be like if the terrorists ruled. Fantastic operation!!

I'd say every seal that was involved has had his name divulged and written a book about this. 😂😂😅

Why waste military resources to save civilians who wilfully put themselves in danger? Our military personnel are not even treated half this well. To put Two tier 1 special forces units from two different countries to rescue two civilians is not acceptable. This would not be done for two captured military personnel.

What the hell were those women doing there. They were so naive, putting the lives of their rescuers in danger.

The best of the best definitely. I do think the aid workers should really think twice before putting themselves in harms way. They present themselves to the enemy who use them as leverage. Numerous lives were put at risk unnecessarily.

I'm not fully convinced that Britain or similar countries don't negotiate with terrorists reading about previous people being rescued from jungles etc in the past.

The Brits and Americans don't negotiate with terrorists because it leaves them vulnerable to being exploited by future terrorist attacks, making themselves look bad or giving other countries excuses to do whatever they want. Germany showed this in 1972 when Lufthansa Flight 649 was hijacked by Palestinians who demanded $5 million in exchange for the passengers and the Germans complied. That showed the Palestinians that Germany was an easy target and later that year they attacked the Munich Olympics which killed 11 Israeli athletes. Then, the same year again, Palestinians hijacked Lufthansa Flight 615 and demanded the release of several perpetrators of the Munich slaughter who'd been imprisoned which Germany also complied with. Many countries shamed Germany for that and Israel even accused them of being involved which prompted the Israelis to pursue the Munich preparators themselves. While Israel were successful, and frankly justified far as I'm concerned, they also made some big f*** ups during those operations and even killed an innocent they mistook for the lead terrorist. Eventually this mentality in Germany was swept away in 1977 when they responded to the Lufthansa Flight 181 hijackings, also by Palestinians demanding more prisoners be released, with the GSG9, the German equivalent of SAS (an SAS operative even assisted them during that op) and all hostages were rescued and all terrorists killed (one was taken alive however). But see the domino effect? One moment of weakness sparks it.

‘I Wish We'd All Been Ready.’ Life was filled with guns and war And everyone got trampled on the floor I wish we'd all been ready Children died, the days grew cold A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold I wish we'd all been ready There's no time to change your mind The Son has come and you've been left behind A man and wife asleep in bed She hears a noise and turns her head He's gone I wish we'd all been ready Two men walking up a hill One disappears and one's left standing still I wish we'd all been ready There's no time to change your mind The Son has come and you've been left behind Life was filled with guns and war And everyone got trampled on the floor I wish we'd all been ready Children died, the days grew cold A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold I wish we'd all been ready There's no time to change your mind How could you have been so blind? The Father spoke, the demons dined The Son has come and you've been left behind You've been left behind You've been left behind You've been left behind You've been left behind. Larry Norman 1970.
