We should’ve been gone when we killed our primary target Osama Bin Laden, who was forced out of Afghanistan and killed in Pakistan. The nation building was a blunder, but our military did decimate Al-Qaeda and kill Bin Laden and Zawahiri. Afghanistan is not the terror haven it was before 9/11 even though the Taliban are back in power. We supported a corrupt government that outnumbered the Taliban 3-to-1 and still couldn’t secure their freedom. Part of the Afghan War was a success, and part of it was a failure. We still do flights over Afghanistan at times to monitor things.

And Rob O'Neil didn't kill Bin Laden. In his own words from his first or second interview Rob states that he was either 3rd or 4th in the stack upon entry and later became the #2 man behind who we know as Red. Rob says that Red engaged a tall male at the top of some stairs and when they cleared the room and walked past the "Body of UBL" Rob put 2-3 rnds in Bin Ladens face. I'm no Tier 1 operator but I've been to combat as an Infantryman of the Five-oh-Deuce from the 101st ABN DIV in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Even when I was a brand new private I knew that rnds to the face of an HVT was a no go. Back then we used the BATTS and HIIDE system to log and track the biometrics of the people we detained, captured, or killed via finger prints and a retina scan.
