​@@val_o3o Social work can be very rewarding, it just depends on if you are good at interacting with people and if you react well to dealing with second hand trauma. You need a lot of patience and compassion. In terms of salary it's around 40,000 to 60,000 depending on the type of social work. I want to emphasize that social work is definitely not a career just for making a lot of money. The salary can be quite good, but I would recommend volunteering for addiction recovery foundations or volunteering for homeless shelters mainly because you get a better understanding of the potential clientele you will work with in the community. My biggest recommendation is getting first hand experience with people with substance abuse problems and people struggling with mental health issues to ensure you are mentally capable to handle emotional trauma. Las Vegas has a lot of problems when it comes to drug abuse and the homeless rate is very high. In order to be a social worker and enjoy your career, you need to be mentally prepared for anything. Once you get more experience with the community you get a better understanding if you will be cut out for social work in the first place. I hope this helped you in deciding if social work will fit your skill set and let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm a first year Criminal Justice major but i've had a change of interest and am very lost in what I want to do but I've been thinking about social work. Growing up, my grandma was always met with trouble since she needed benefits but she didn’t speak English so it was hard for her to find someone who spoke our language and could help her out. So I want to be help that to others. I don’t feel confident enough to do something like visit people with substance abuse and such, but I want to know if I can still help others in our community?

Hey girl im currently in a stuck era. I have been wanting to do social work for suck a long time. I graduated with a bachelors in “Sociology Law and Society” with a Minor in communication studies. I wasnt able to get into the BA program therefore my goal was (MSW.) I’ve come so far and now I’m at the edge of wanting to move into a whole different career such as (marketing.) I always end up here;thinking about social work again though. I do get a little discouraged due to not have a (SW) bachelors. Though this video helped me a lot and allowed me to see the insight of what I never got too. I’m debating my choice still but having such a hard time due to wanting to apply for my masters for next fall. Not interested in the material ? & I am currently in Grad school & the struggle has been real lol I would say discipline & sacrifice ! I wake up a hour earlier I ask for extra help with my daughter when I need it . I spend less time on social media

@@tesharozell hey, I just honestly don't feel it would be worth it or pay off for me. I dropped a few days ago. I already have two degrees yet I still have never made more than $22 an hour. Nobody needs a degree to make 22 an hour... I've been looking for a new job for months unsuccessfully. I just couldn't see myself reading textbooks, going to class, doing assignments and papers, interning and working for the next 2 years. I had enough of that in undergrad. I'll just have to figure something else out

That is amazing ! I always found science very interesting and intriguing! I would say do more research on what it takes to obtain a profession as a social worker in your state. Every state is very different for example I only have my BS in psychology however I have had multiple positions as a social worker ! It truly depends on the job you wish to obtain ! Thank you for being a nurse and giving back I know it’s not easy ! & that is sooooo exciting I am wishing you look and positivity ! I know you will be a great social worker ! That is a great Question. To be honest I would say it’s very rare that I do get scared in my clients home due to the fact that they know I am here to help. ! However as a woman I listen to my intuition the client who are very mentally ill I ask a co worker or supervisor to tag an along with me ! That helps a lot !
