Oh bless you. Starting university is such a massive change and it can feel both very over and underwhelming at times. Just know that this is only the beginning and beginnings are often very tough as you’re starting something completely new! But with time it will get better. You will meet the people you are destined to meet, and have these wonderful experiences that present you can only dream of. For now, sit tight. no one really speaks about how lonely change can be, especially new life experiences. i spent most of first year in my own company. trying to adjust to a new place, while quietly figuring out who i wanted to become. it was incredibly disorientating at times, but it also gave me space to learn things about myself that i wouldn't have otherwise. you find your people along the way. and it will get easier over time. it might not feel like that right now. but you will. everyone does this at their own pace. you're doing great, just continue what you're doing

i just came back from giving my uni first sem exams and i dont feel great about it , i dont think , i ll barely pass , i am just not fine , i am feeling really heaving amongst all things, there s nothing really be goingon to make me feel dont but eversince i came to uni i dont feel myself anymore i m jus=st playing along all the characters my friends want me to be , i feel lost i feel lost i dont remember who i wanted to become

oh definitely!!! the change from regular schooling to uni is so different but you definitely learn lots from it (even if it's the simple things like how to use a dishwasher lol)

yes i completely agree. i’m currently in a film society in the university next to me but i haven’t been able to go due to health reasons. but definitely will get back into going once i’m back from christmas break!!! thank you for your support love

OMG you watch Dustin too!? His videos are the highlight of my days sometimes...you just got an instant follow :) This video made me both happy and sad...happy bc I am finally at university and it was a great struggle to get here, but sad because I feel the same. Sometimes the anxiety gets to be too much and I end up staying in when all I want to do is make memories with friends. It's hard because the weather is also so bad during winter! All I want is to live life without this looming gloom over me :')

I resonated with the video a lot, I stopped being able to be social in mid October. Idk but it didn’t feel right anymore, before this though my social like was booming, I was constantly making new friends, and I had quite a large but stable consistent friend group since then though I haven’t been able to participate. I feel so out of place and suddenly and awkward. I don’t know what’s happened but I’ve found myself avoiding everyone and just holing up in my room trying to go home as much as I can. Avoiding everyone and I can’t even say why. I was living that perfect idealistic college life and I just destroyed it. Does anyone have advice for me? I find myself going back to how I use to act in highschool even thought I hated that Version of myself.

i completely understand what you mean. i’ve been feeling the exact same recently. i also had a large friendship group and now it feels like i have no one. i think it’s the idea of change that scares us off of socialising. i guess you just have to have the mindset that everyone is still trying to get to know each other, so if you reach out they’ll be happy that you did. also don’t make the assumption that people don’t want to talk. just a simple “hi what’s your instagram” or “hi i like your outfit” is the easiest way to start chatting. also don’t be afraid to stray away from small talk. people actually want to hear about your feelings because they’ll very likely relate to how you’re feeling. study dates are really useful too especially if people are busy. but altogether just give it time even though that’s easier said than done. start with small comments here and there, it’ll make someone else’s day and make you feel better about yourself. i wish you all the best

This is such a beautiful video - I just wanted to come and comment that it gets easier!! I remember feeling the exact same way at the start and I don't think I even found my true friends until second year (hopefully it wont take u as long lol). Im a first year uni student who enrolled in week 3, i know no one, i tried my best, its finals week and i just feel like crying

just think that even though you enrolled in week 3, people are still in the same boat as you. i started at the same time as everyone else and still have the same struggles as you do. just give these things time and i know it's hard but don't give up too early. every time i've thought of giving up something small will happen that makes me realise i should keep going. for example i finally spoke to someone new the other day (just a small comment like "i hope you feel better soon, what's your instagram?") and i'm now starting to get on well with them!!! but sending all my love to you and i wish you the best
