Realistic Fishing Gone Wrong! Surprise Catches When Fishing for Bass!

Today we see some realistic fishing gone wrong. Check out these surprise catches when fishing for bass. For the first surprise catch I am out fishing with a Texas Rig creature bait (Baby Brush Hog) and I hook into something big. It doesn't take long to realize its not a bass when the drag starts screaming. For the second surprise fish I am out fishing a crankbait. Once again the drag sings as a big fish pulls hard. And the third fish, while not as big was quite surprising. An eight in sunfish went for a Pit Boss. Sometimes realistic fishing means that something has gone wrong. But hey, even surprise catches when fishing for bass can be fun. #fishing

I caught a 19.5" Smallmouth while jigging for bait shad with a tiny sabiki rig. Amazing the tiny size 14 gold hook held!

I caught a pissed off jumbo snapping turtle walking a frog across the lilly pads a few weeks ago. Although my frog was destroyed, l was able to get BOTH hooks out of his mouth with the help of a stick and back in the water in good shape. He did sit there for 5 minutes hissing at me on the bank.

One of the best things about fishing in south Louisiana, you never know what youll catch next. Bass, redfish, flounder, even a shark or 2 all in the same area.

Surprise catches can be the best! Congrats on the nice sized surprises. Just be glad it wasn't a snapping turtle. Big snappers tend to be my surprise catches on rare occasions as well as the occasional Asian carp.

Got a 18" pike on a tube jig when I was going for panfish once. Also had a small pike slam a little baby perch I was reeling in once. Can't seem to catch pike on purpose lol.

Alex, I've caught all of those surprise fish while bass fishing. I've also caught turtles, sand bass, drum, bluegill/sunfish, crappie and even a grinnel (bowfin). All fun though! ~Jeff

I caught a big smallmouth bass on a tiny redworm last weekend. That fish jumped 3 feet out of the water! I love the fight of smallies!
