My saving tip as a student, living at home, with little to no financial responsibilities: I put all my hundreds in my savings and I “spend” my tens. For ex, if my paycheck is 250$, I put 200 away in savings and I keep the 50$ in my chequing to spend (if I want). Obviously if you have more financial responsibilities this may not work, but considering the only thing I really buy is takeout, coffee and occasionally clothes, this works well for me!

Going to a state school for college instead of an expensive private or out-of-state school has honestly been the best financial decision I’ve made so far at 21!

I moved back in with my parents to save money and it was the best financial decision! Now one of my student loans is almost paid off and I’m also working on improving my credit score and finally feel like I’m improving my financial life 👏🏻 it’s a temporary decision but SO worth it!

Budgeting is *EVERYTHING* !!🎉 Even being a freelancer, I budget based off of my lowest month and then anything above that is what you mentioned the "new budget" that's specifically for my savings.💖 Loved that you made this video!

First of all I wanna say what a helpfull video. But my short time goal is to cut on my spending habits and budget, so I don't struggle from paycheck to paycheck. After that, I want to start actually saving money. I'm 20-year-old working two minimum wage jobs but living in one of the most expensive areas of Helsinki. Definetely gonna come back to these comments! ❤️

Love this and the comments! Social learning is so great. What's worked for me is (1) tracking my expenses - instead of an excel spreadsheet, I use one of the free budgeting/expense tracking apps so I can easily put in an expense as soon as I've spent it/on the go. In doing so, I can check how much I've spent at any point in a month or at the end to understand what I spent most on and if I feel I've overspent, I take a closer look to find out why. Sometimes it's just because I had a friend's birthday and it's okay but sometimes it really helps to highlight where I might've splurged a little too much. (2) splitting my pay into different savings account as soon as I get paid - this way I am saving automatically and I know that what's in my transaction account is what I have to play with!

Great video Natalie! I love the advice you gave and also agree that there is nothing wrong with living with your parents 👍🏼 but would like to add that even though we can save on rent and groceries, don’t forget to help your parents out when you can! Living by yourself you can see how much is spent on food, and I know I never noticed when I was living at home. We should help out and not live for free when we are fortunate to money 😊

I like to think of my savings in terms of a percentage! I have my first job out of college so I’m not making a crazy salary but I can be proud of my self when I can achieve saving X%

I set a rule on my bank account that every time I get a paycheck, it will put in a certain percentage in savings. So I don’t feel it as much because I’m not seeing that money.

It sucks there's a stigma to living with your parents in the U.S., but pretty normal in many other countries

it is stigma everywhere, but in poor countries it is justified under various pretexts.

@@user-su1rd1hm4m that's not true , Singapore and Japan are really developed , still living with parents is preferred by parents and society. It's the kids that want to move out after a certain age , but parents prefer that kids move out only when they are financially sound , or have a job far away or married . Else they will not prefer for the kid to move out . Even in "poor countries" , as you said , there are tons of people that are super duper rich , and tons that are in high class , even these people prefer to stay with parents . So it comes from culture , where it was always preferred from olden times ,that younger ones need elders for guidance, and the elder ones need younger ones for physical support in their ripe age . So many cultures are based on this . In this setting , money is not a reason to stay together. Coz the Rich ones and the poor ones , all prefer to stay together , just the size of the home changes. I hope this gave you a different perspective to look into . Media always doesnt show the real things . 😊 👍. "Vasudhev kutumbkambh". Try to check the meaning of this word. It's from Sanskrit.

@@user-su1rd1hm4m I agree with the other comment. Maybe in the U.S. and some other "western" countries, there's a stigma, but my cousins in Canada still live with their parents well into their mid-late 20's.. maybe even 30's. I also know Israelis who live with their parents and they aren't poor either. It seems normal there.

Although I love you, I have a few questions for you: 1) Any successful project is assessed with added value, what is your added value, zero? 2) You realize that you owe your success to your beauty and the fact that you started KZbin when it all began; this is easy money and does not correspond in any way in terms of the invested effort and income. 3) Is it worth saving money 40 years of your best life to spend them in the last ten years of life? ;)
