I prefer to drive smaller more nimble cars and there is no reason for me to need one of these…but deep down I want one so bad and know that if I won the lottery I’d have one. I’d admire it in the evenings next to my GTI after spending all day washing and waxing them. Great outro too. You really hit the nail on how easy it is to judge what others drive when many times our own cars aren’t all that practical.

I think 2007-2014 were the best years of the Tahoe/Suburban (obviously they're related). Modern enough styling (not overstyled, not old looking), very reliable (none of that Active Fuel Management stuff that breaks all the time), and you can find a lot of them that haven't been beaten to death or rusted out completely. Also, it has everything you might need and nothing you don't. For the 2021+ GM full size SUVs, the Escalade is the best looking, but unfortunately it costs about $100k before dealer markups. FYI: that 10 speed automatic transmission is the same one Ford uses in all their body on frame trucks (and the Mustang). It was developed jointly by Ford and GM.

I love those extra long cruisers. I found Ford Expedition Max more to my liking. It has more comfortable front seats and has surprisingly accurate and responsive steering compared to the Suburban. Its 3.5 TT engine is also curiously economical. Alas, they are both crazy expensive compared to something like Honda Odyssey, and to top it all, my 7' high 240" long garage accommodates neither one (Chevy or Ford) very well.

Good review! I have a 2023 Suburban, the 7th one I've had since 1999, also had a Blazer back in 1978 - 1982. Since 2009, they have gotten more and more electronically complex, to the point you need a kid to program it. The biggest deal to me is the gas mileage. From what I can tell, highway, isn't as good as previous models, since 2009 all of mine have been Z71's, which is odd because historically it's been getting a little better each model, until now. You mentioned cylinder deactivation. I was told the 2023's didn't have that feature. The older ones all let you know what mode you were in but not this one. Frankly, I always thought it was a "feel good" feature that really didn't help. I mean, you'd go into 4 cylinder mode coasting down an exit ramp for 25 yards but when you stop, you're idling with all 8 banging away, what kind of since does that make? Which brings me to my last point. As silly as the cylinder deactivation is/was, the worst is the auto stop feature where the engine actually turns off at a stop light. I guess GM saw a lot of money money in new batteries and starters sales. Thanks again for your post!

Highly suggest the 3 liter duramax. In the Silverado I average 26. On road trips it’s 28-33 depending.

i have a corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 47MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.

Crazy the Z71 doesn’t have adaptive cruise control. Gonna wait till the 2025s come out. More models will be able to have super cruise as well which means adaptive cruise control. Also a the infotainment screen is hard to see. They have angled it towards the driver in the new model just like the silverados.
@alexarnold677310 ай бұрын
The unfortunate truth is the new silverados/suburbans/tahoes usually come standard with the 6.2L v8 and an 8 or 10 speed trans which will all experience lifter issues before 100k and the trans will be shot right at 100k like clockwork. Source(I sell these parts to customers).

Subpar history according to them, the last few years haven't been horrible but we will see how well that holds up over the years. All the GM vehicles I bought in the past several decades were nice when new but were really just junk. They all had to have at least some new car warranty work and the dealer experience ranged from, at least for me, at best pretty bad to outright incompetence. Don't let a GM product's pretty face fool you. It is just lipstick on a pig. All GM vehicles are constructed with low quality materials and components and are likely horrid money pits to own if you keep them longer than 4 years. I learned the hard way for the last time and will not make the mistake again of buying another GM vehicle. I lost all trust with GM, Hyundai, Ford, and only buy Toyota's or Honda's. and have never looked back. I now stay away from the plethora of low quality American or import vehicles on the market. Just saying.

Yeah I was pretty surprised during research for my reliability portion in this one to find as many issues with recent models as I did. Although, if you have to have it, there are (some) preventative things you can do to keep them strong for awhile.

I test drove one of these things, definately am NOT impressed! I drove the Highcountry and I asked the sales rep if it was a V6… he asked me if I felt the power, honestly thats why i asked him if it was a v6 because it felt EXTREMELY UNDERPOWERED… definately feels like super cheap materials, compared to my 2022 Armada Platinum, definately WAYYYYYY less features than my Armada… the rear seat sucks, my Armada reclines this one, youre sitting up straight and WONT recline one bit

If my regular viewers don’t choose to watch a video (I typically don’t review trucks or high end stuff) then KZbin is very slow to recommend it out to a wider audience. The goal is to have a broad enough subscriber base to where I don’t rely as much on recommendations!
