I personally wouldn't buy any animal oddities from Amazon unless I knew the store selling through there (and even then I'd rather deal with the store directly).

Does this apply to ethical farms doing taxidermy with the same colors? Or just cruel farms?
@Foxibility4 ай бұрын
may i ask what you think about US or Canadian fur farms? i have a tail from one and i was okay with it but not so sure how to feel about it now. wearing tails outside my home i feel in a way im supportive of cruel farms no matter the origin of the tail because im showing that it could be desirable. i really love foxes, i wish them no harm (or any animals) i also love taxidermy and wearing tails. is it wrong? i love chickens but i still eat them, tails or chicken are not necessities, is there really a difference?

It honestly depends on the individual farm. I don't know much about Canadian farms, but I can think of two specific smaller fur farms in the US that are opposite ends of the spectrum as far as welfare and care goes (thankfully the unethical farm sold out their business and is no longer running). Unless you buy directly from a farm or from someone who goes to the farm and is willing to give you details it's near impossible to know the conditions of the farm you're purchasing from. In general it's in a farmer's interest to care for the animals because stressed, injured, and malnourished animals won't produce good fur that's worth much at auction. The US and Canada also have decent animal welfare laws and have regulations a fur farm must adhere to. Animal cruelty is outlawed and will be grounds for shutting down a farm in both countries, but there will be differences in some practices that will affect the animal's welfare (health problems present in breeding lines, purposeful obesity, different caging materials, frequency of cleaning, access to enrichment, etc.). Ultimately it will be up to the individual to decide if it's "wrong" to wear fur or not, as personal preferences and ethics will vary. If wearing the tail makes you feel bad I'd say don't do what you don't feel happy about. If you feel happier wearing the tail, then I'd say wear it. Wearing tails has come and gone as a fashion a couple times in recent decades, especially in certain circles (furries, therians, and ren faire goers comes to mind). Unless you're someone who is really influential it's honestly unlikely that you wearing fur will inspire other people to, but it does normalize it.

Hey I have a question! I have 2 tails that were purchased from Amazon way back before I knew this kind of stuff, I would like help on knowing if it’s cruel or anything! So description of the first tail: silver fox tail with the regular coloring and yellow-ish white tip, not blue so they didn’t try to hide anything? It is very plump and fluffy, and when I dig in the fur I find what is most likely leather, very high quality too it seems somehow too lol. Second tail: even bigger and longer than the other one, somewhat plumper. Golden island fox is what it was advertised as, sandy tan-orange color with soft gray tints and a few darker grey stripy looking parts. But weirdly enough when I dig in the fur I find no leather??? If you took your time to read this thank you so! I’m very much in a pickle and I’d like to have the chance to feel less guilty. Just crossing my fingers over here, but i’m prepared for harsh truth. :)

It's going to be entirely up to you on whether or not you feel comfortable wearing it at this point. There's arguments to be made about why you should and shouldn't go for it. The way I personally see it? You may as well wear it. The animal is already dead and the fur farmer has already been paid. You already have the tail in your possession. If you chose to discard it, burn it, bury it, sell it, etc., at the end of the day the fur farm has already been supported either way. You can use this as a learning opportunity to avoid doing the same thing in the future, if you wish to avoid buying from a bad fur farm again. For example, I have a dried bat and a bat skeleton that I got before I knew how unethical those both are. Now I know that oddities like the bats I own are directly contributing to the decline in bat populations, because bats are being killed in cruel ways and in unsustainable numbers for the purpose of selling them as oddities. I already own the bats. I now use them to talk about why it's unethical, and what alternatives people can buy instead. And I'll know to never do it again. If you don't feel comfortable wearing it, feel like you'll be judged for wearing it and don't want to deal with that kind of backlash, feel guilty about it, or otherwise have some kind of negative emotion about it it might be best not to wear it. You don't want to feel shame, sorrow, guilt, or any of that over something you want to wear to feel happy and more like your true self. I had a friend who sold off their entire tail collection (they probably had at least 100 tails if not more in their possession) because one day they realized that owning fur made them feel bad. They felt too sad about the dead foxes lining their walls because they very closely identified with foxes (they were a furry, not therian, but very closely tied nonetheless). After getting rid of all of their tails they felt like a weight had been lifted off their shoulders, and they never bought any real fur ever again. So TL;DR: do whatever makes you happy. Ethics and morals are pretty individualized and will vary from person to person, or even change throughout your own lifetime (I do not have the same moral/ethical values I did 15 years ago that I have today). Do what will make you feel best, evaluate your own personal ethics and morals and values, and in the future do your best to make informed decisions that better align with what you believe. Sorry this was so long ^-^' I hope it helps though. Wishing you the best

Sure they aren’t making much off of that ten dollar tail but I just can’t imagine supporting people who treat animals that way at all. Not to mention the massive uptick in demand for tails, they are definitely going to be laughing with the bank because gen alpha is too blind to see that real fur is a product of animal cruelty. Period. I don’t see how people can say they love foxes and animals while also justifying supporting their exploitation and abuse because it’s only 10 dollars.
@wolfforce582052 ай бұрын
@@caseyvenable7701 Like I say in the video, you don't have to support fur farming if you don't like the concept of it or disagree with fur farming for any reason. Just like any animal industry there are good farms and there are bad farms, and most will fall somewhere in the middle. All fur and leather (and meat, for that matter) products require the animal to be killed in order to obtain the product, and it's incredibly rare to find items on the market that come from animals who died of old age or other health complications. People love a wide variety of animals while still utilizing their remains. For example, I really love dogs, but I have dog items in my collection: I have my last dog's skeleton, my childhood dogs' ashes, various dog skulls, dog claws, inked paw prints from dogs that I have sadly been with when they were euthanized, even a tail tip from a dog I know and love when someone accidentally closed a door on it. Whether or not you wish to do this is your own personal decision based on your ethics and morals, which are subject to change over time as well as you grow, learn, and the world around you changes. Before deciding to buy or otherwise obtain anything I strongly suggest looking into the ethical implications of your purchase (what things are affecting that species, how that specimen was obtained, the conservation status of that species where they were obtained, etc.) and how that information aligns with your personal moral and ethical stances.

@@wolfforce58205 yeah I will not be planing to ever support any industry that kills animals prematurely for products, that is why I’m vegan. To me that’s just flat out animal cruelty and wrong. In my opinion any farm that exploits and kills animals prematurely against their will is a bad farm and I disagree with the notion that someone can love an animal while simultaneously putting in demand cruel treatment towards that animal. Those are two absolutely contradictory stances. I don’t have issue with the utilization of animal remains if the animal was not exploited and died a natural death. For example I found a cat skull today at work and I believe there is no ethical implication of taking that skull home. Where there is ethical implication is if someone paid for a skull that came from a cat who was farmed and murdered.

@@caseyvenable7701 Oh man, that's really hard to do with animal testing being a factor, since that means avoiding most modern medications and medical procedures (I used to work animal care with lab animals so it's always near the front of my mind 😅 ). Anyone who gets pregnant/gets someone pregnant alone owes so many mama and baby monkeys their respect for their sacrifices 😞 Honestly I'm kinda surprised you're on KZbin though if you disagree with any industry that prematurely kills animals for products since a lot of electronics will utilize animal parts in various ways through rendering processes or in the final product. It's near-impossible to avoid animal products in modern society, it's sneaky. I'm glad you know where your ethical boundaries are, but the judgment on others is pretty unnecessary and rude, especially when you're doing the exact same thing you claim to disagree with just by being online and using electronics 🤷 Glass houses and stones, and all that jazz.
