I have started a home studio at 45, amid two toddlers, a wife, a 9-5 job and an MBA degree. I was waking up early too, just for fooling around with music. Those couple of hours (not every day) gave me the mental strength to overcome all the difficulties at that period of my life. But I didnt have separate place for my studio untortunately. Anyway this is the power of music I guess. Wish you all the best, my friend!

Family first! The fact that you put your family first shows so much about a persons character. Thank You for being a loving dad first not many have their priorities in the proper perspectives. Never sacrifice your family for anything. Your family is the reason and purpose for your sole existence especially when that's your Source of love and support. Continue with what you're doing... I grew up with MF DOOM and 1 thing he always told me deal or no deal always get the music out especially when you hear it in your head. I miss my brothers. Much love to you and your family Sir. Love the music. It definitely takes me back .. just listening to different albums for hours trying to find that right sample... until I started playing around with fruityloops back in 1997... I told DOOM that using computers to make beats was going to be the future and he told me no we used to go back and forth on the subject.. needless to say.. I told my brother before it happened. I miss them all. Ride the cosmic DJ SUBROC Dingalizwe DOOM KEVLOVE

My beat making skills evolved very slowly - if at all - over the last 20 years and now i even use more and more drum loops. Because I am not great at all. But I love every minute of my hobby and i can listen to my own loops with cool drums (which i can´t reproduce) for hours. I am always sitting there thinking I am the only one who ever heard this. No need to get it out there and become a real musician. Its YOUR TIME!

Man this and your “sorry I’m not cooler” vid really resonated with me. At 34 I just knew I would be a full time artist touring and providing for my family with my art. I work 12 hour days 5 days a week off on weekends. It’s a blessing because all my other jobs before I was married in 2019 took my weekends away. So not having time kills me. I finally released my first few songs on DSP’s last year but it was a chore to find the time to do it. I’m glad I found this channel tho, your style is inspiring and I plan on focusing more on creating and not the result. Oh and also, this beat is a pocket rapper’s dream! Yup, 47yrs old, always playing in bands, gigging, home studio as well, my whole adult life, but also working 12hr days on call weekends overtime, still have yard to mow house to maintain cars to work on, all that normal blue collar guy stuff. But balance work family and gigging in 3 bands because I play bass drums and guitar I had a band for all 3, and doing my home studio thing. Dude its a juggling act, now Im getting older, and just quit gigging out, moved to the country, and kids are grown and out on their own. I finally have time to “take my time” and just focus on home studio work and I absolutely love it. Also don’t forget the nobody really cares, and you cant give it away free now days. But we keep doing it anyway. Because that’s who we are. Keep it up man, never give up on that piece of yourself. Its who we are.

this is super relatable. I think even a lot of 'working musicians' require day jobs now, or at least 'work hours' to create some product offerings, etc. Those morning hours after sleep tend to be the easiest creative times when you don't have to force anything. Your mind is just a clean slate - open to channeling divine inspiration, I think that's why it comes easily. it's always harder to make time after dinner when household things or family grab our attention or interrupt the flow state.
