The kitchen looks amazing. Very impressive, and very inspirational. I've been talking to my wife about sorting out our kitchen (that looks scarily similar to your before), and I asked her the other day if she would let me experiment on the one cabinet that's falling apart and see if she trusts me. Now I'm more encouraged. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks so much! I have renovated my whole house, with no experience, just by watching Jeff's videos (I love that guy!)....all I have left to do is my kitchen! So this was great! I got some good ideas from you and more confidence now too! You are incredible in front of the camera! I am so impressed! .. I know its a lot harder than it looks to be on the other side...and You were amazing!!! Like a pro! Congratulations on your beautiful Baby as well! Great job all the way around! BOTH OF YOU!!!! Oh yea thank you for showing us the messy house while your kitchen is torn up...makes me feel so much better! I keep thinking that my Mom's house never looked this way (even when renovating) but she had my Dad to do the work and I just dont have the time or energy to worry about what the house looks like while I'm doing the construction and everything else too...I"m just ONE old chick doing it all by myself ya know? And it is exhausting sometimes! But well worth it! It is taking me forever it seems, but this house is 50 years old! And so am I! So EVERYTHING needed replacing and fixing, Ive learned so much! Thank you!!

I've been watching these videos for probably about the last eight months. I'm gearing up to do a complete renovation of our house. Everything from adding a master bathroom, putting in new, bigger windows and new siding, new flooring... the list goes on and on. While there are a few things I know I'm not going to do myself, I've still been questioning whether or not I'm going to be able to pull off everything else. It's one thing to watch a professional like Jeff doing the work and saying anyone can do it. But, actually watching someone on the same skill level do what all of us are doing; watching the videos for reference and then putting it to practice; that is something else all together. This is what I needed to give me the confidence that I'm actually going to be able to pull this off and "save a ton of money". The highlight of this video, though, (aside from the spot on Hank Hill impression and feeding the squirrel) was seeing that baby boy. I speak from my own experience in saying my single greatest joy has been becoming a father. Max, congratulations to you and your lovely wife and I wish you even greater success in the future.
@SubdivisionAuto3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the story. Honestly man the main thing I learned is that no you can't always do everything but you can do more than you'd ever imagine. The second thing is if you look at the whole project and everything to do you will doubt yourself hardcore. Just do one step at a time make a list and knock off what you feel like taking on. Eventually the list gets shorter and shorter and next thing you know you've done so many things you didn't think you could. So I wish you the best on your project and know you can do it. Thanks for the comment on my son I am lucky. And as for your reno let us know how it goes. Come back here and post here even if it takes years!

I am getting ready to remodel my kitchen. You have inspired me to do this myself with your tips on being able to tile over tile. I was thinking that I would have tear out my previous walls. That will save me a lot of time and money. My walls are old plaster walls so I decided to just cover them up and make them smooth so no old cracks will show through with a light almost white -grey wood grain paneling.. And the floors with the same as you used however in grey tone. Then to make it pop I got a grey black and white glass back splash.. My problem is my cabinets, However you gave me an idea. I liked the idea of painting them and just replacing the doors. So wish me luck on my DIY project. I will send you some pics. I am a 63 year old widow who is ready to take on this myself. Again you inspired me to attempt this on my own. If I run into any problems I might have to shout out to your guys. Thanks again.

Max - Best Reality Renovision video ever! Thank you for showing us your screw-ups as well as the beautiful room after the reno. I know I can do some of this stuff (I helped build 3 of my folks' homes (1 was a spec, 3 were their new builds and then several flips, I didn't "help" on real job sites; step-dad was a builder of custom homes.) I think maybe for you - and definitely *for me - is the part of not having a Jeff (or step-dad) nearby in case I get totally confused or mess-up big time.* Personally I think the hardest, most complicated and most boring job is the video editing, you're the real Pro Max!

Jeff i enjoy all your videos thank you so much. I've gained tremendous knowledge from you. Max did a great job on his kitchen. A great video on how to DIY, save yourself money, and just as important: gain experience. Everyone can do this. I'm in northern CA, U.S. and $5,500 american is a value. I spent that on just countertops. We just did our kitchen mostly by ourselves, and a couple helpful friends. I installed new plumbing and undermount farmhouse sink (I'm a union plumber by trade), lighting, cabinets, tile backsplash, range hood, and flooring. We ordered granite and had it professionally cut and installed because i know my limits and i wanted it to look great. The granite was $2000 material, but labor was $3500 August 2021. Labor is where you save $$$$. Everyone must weigh what's best for themselves. Quality, time, material, tools, labor. Thanks again guys!
@SubdivisionAuto3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I did what I could but I would always hire out the countertop. That's just a pro job and like you said if you want it to look good it's worth paying for the value. It sounds like your very capable with all those skills and you will save a lot doing it yourself. So spending more on countertops is not much of a loss. I bet thr kitchen looks great now how do you like it?

$7600 even in US dollars would be a really good price for kitchen renovations. The lights were more expensive than I would think but everything looks great. I appreciate that you’re honest about not being a great carpenter and that the situation with the grout was frustrating and almost made you give up was refreshing to see a real life example. A lot of KZbin videos show all the how-to but you don’t actually see the issues that come up and how people who aren’t contractors or who don’t do it all the time deal with it. Great video.

Put in a new dishwasher. Want to put in a bigger sink...hoping that will happen as we have a garbage disposal. Thanks so much!! looking for decent transition strip from kitchen to living room (natural hardwoods) and new flooring in kitchen was vinyl flooring (older product that finally got in!) I want to redo my cabinets to white. I have a few questions to ask. 1) can I paint over the rustoleum paint or do I need to sand it down first before I prime the cabinets? 2) How can I cover my backsplash which is like the one you just installed in your kitchen but mine is in a different color brown😝? Can I use your cover up method on my glass mosaic backsplash and replace it with another mosaic tile or can I use subway tile? I know you’re extremely busy but If you would please reply back. I love your ceramic tile backsplash; the colors would match my kitchen perfectly. Where did you find it? HD or Lowe’s or? I’d like to buy the same thing. Thanks for sharing your “real” experience!

Do you guys think it's a good idea to expand the cabinet above a refrigerator out to the front to make it flush (I'm using a smaller then average refrigerator) ? I'm about to start my remodel ideas so.. I'm on to binge the rest of the channel after this ! Thanks for the video 😊

This might be the best video on your channel. It is like, everything you say for a real person, which is what we are all.

Nice of you to say Mike but in all honesty it's all thanks to watching Jeff and learning from him. Just wanted to show people anyone can do it too. But yes real people matter and hopefully others try their own renos or remodels. Thanks for the kind comment

@@SubdivisionAuto I have watched him (and your behind the scenes work included) for years. I have a 2 story house with basement. We decided to tackle remodeling the main floor after watching your videos. We have all new all hardwood floor in, the kitchen we gutted, got through electrical and plumbing, inspections included, and now we are in the middle of the hardest thing ever drywall. We are far from the artist Jeff is with 45 minute mud.

Awesome job. Will be redoing our kitchen in about 3 years down the road due to budget restraints. Will have to bring in some pros because we want to reconfigure the whole room. Our electrical panel will need to be upgraded as well to accommodate the new kitchen. Going to be pricey but it will be so worth it.

Great Job! Kitchen cabinets look great with a smooth finish and even color. I'm considering doing the same for my kitchen renovation. I'm wondering why you chose Spray Paint in a can instead of regular cabinetry paint with primer for the cabinet using a spray gun? Is there a difference in the coating and finish? Thank you for the sanding tip, I have painted cabinets in the past as a DIY and I always sanded the cabinet prior before primer but I used paint & primer in one. Very educational thank you I loved the video and congratulations on your baby on the way.
@SubdivisionAuto3 жыл бұрын
Just wanted to keep it simple so I chose the spray paint. Im not a pro so I cannot tell you the differences in the finishes other than the fact I like that there are no brush strokes with the spray paint and its perfectly even. Im sure there are other ways other there but it worked for me (other than making a huge mess but I could have avoided that, learned from my mistakes). Dont need to sand thats for sure just a good cleaning. Paint + primer is a gimmic you need a good primer. Thanks for enjoying the video glad you liked it good lucK!
