I always thought Indonesian is a small place. Just a couple of islands in the South East, even if considered the largest cluster of islands, I still felt it's small compared to the Western continents. But damn, to know that small cluster of islands is literally bigger that most European countries, made me felt like "How tf did they invade us pre and post WW2?!"

Europe might seem small, but the reality is that it's incredibly efficient. It's a concentration of large amounts of fertile and easily hospitable land that is very easy to enter from the east. That's why it's so incredibly diverse as throughout the millennia, countless groups have migrated into Europe. This constant interaction and conflict between different cultural groups lead to Europe's rapid advancement, which in turn enabled it to dominate the rest of the world.

I often stop for a moment and think how small Europe is, whenever anything about the rest of the world is discussed... How insignificant it would be in a world built like a strategy game... With few natural recourses, a ton of mountains in the south and just plains in the north and an ever aging population... Yet for the entire span of recorded history, authority has remained firmly in Europe's hands, with only the Bronze age and part of the Ancient period being exceptions. And only very recently has the balance shifted... A part of the world that is as big as the DRC and like... Tunisia, used to rule it. And that was less than half of Europe, with the other half being ruled by the first half, either officially or technically... It always leaves me in awe; the sheer amount of power being concentrated in such a small place...
@liamplunkett51002 жыл бұрын
What's the most interesting to me is that it seems that people of Asian descent (such as in Japan and Korea) tend not to immigrate to other countries, hence why their populations are still very large in their home countries. Places like Ireland and Scotland have small populations that still remain there, but most of us white folk in places like the US have direct lineage from these countries. Pretty incredible
