And then there's the fact that logistics could become a major problem for the Union if they have to conscript troops and get supplies from all over the country whilst most of their major cities are all in the East, especially if some central states decide to join the Confederacy.
@zaidnava5624 жыл бұрын

kEy NiGht well also think about it like this. The southern states that are also in the Bible Belt are primarily conservative. Unlike the north east and the west coast guys. You can go ahead and put the majority of the Midwest guys in with the southern states on this one. If they were to break off it would most likely to avoid the socialists that are trying to run the country. Now, the majority of the military is also conservatives and to think they would fire on their people is just off. Now some of those “hicks with no teeth” are also former military. So they teach their kids how to hunt fish and track and live off the land. Not to mention they’re fighting on their on land. And the countless militias that are spread across the south that are also former military. Even if the military wasn’t on the side of the south. You should’ve gone over the revolutionary war in history class. And at the time Americans were just a bunch of drunk trigger happy farmers so just think about it chief.

@@dustinchristensen3894 If you think the war will be the same as it was in the 1800's, you are mistaken. The technology and military strength of the north is far to great for any other country to rival. Let alone the south which has very little industrial power and economic activity. And conservatism is nowhere near the government styles of the Confederacy. If you have ever read any literature on governmental systems in the confederacy, you will realize that the reason they lost the war was to poor government enforcement in states, very little taxation, and a stand still economy. The sad truth for you libertarians is, government will and will always have to have a role in your lives. There were two 'superhighways' of the 19th century U.S. An independent Confederacy would cut off the north-south Mississippi River (preventing inland access to the Gulf of Mexico) and if Missouri had joined the CSA, cut off the east-west transcontinental railroad (under construction during the war). If the CSA had succeeded in remaining independent and successfully fractured these highways, California would likely be its own country, encompassing the territories of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. The Union would have a long border to guard and would be more European oriented in terms of cultural influence and foreign relations. Midwest and Mountain states could have been divided amongst these three powers, or become independent, landlocked countries.

The thing is if the csa were to return today i assume some other states would be more willing to join it than stay as a part of the United States, states like Oklahoma, Kentucky and West Virginia, due to a cultural similarity closer to the CSA states than the USA states. Also, a lot of people don't like the US so if this were to happen, lots of other countries (Most notably China and Russia) would support the CSA just to significantly weaken the United States, which fixes the most crucial issue that the Confederacy of the 19th century had, which was the lack of allies. If CSA were to return today, i can't say with certainty who'd win that war, but it would be bloody and weaken both countries immensely

I don't think it would end up being a world war. Russia and China would happily but quietly contribute resources but they would not want to put boots on the ground. No one would want to openly get involved as an ally of the CSA, at least initially. Also, I think it would be more likely that China supports the USA. They would have a vested interest in a fast war that didn't overly disrupt their US investments and that left the west coast untouched. However, I feel like the question asked by the video is inaccurate. If a modern civil war were to occur, much of the midwest would go with the new CSA. It's very possible that only the northeast from Maryland up and the west coast out to Colorado end up being part of the USA at first. There would also be a great deal of internal resistance - Austin and Atlanta would not go quietly into a CSA and rural Maryland would absolutely want to go with the CSA while the beltway would resist.

I agree, unlike in 1861 when the civil war was just a domestic issue it would be a world issue today and much like the Korean and Vietnam war, other countries may not officially join but would most certainly send supplies and volunteers to which every country fit their interest. Also due to the matter of nuclear weapons, this would be a major issue to the rest of the world, as either the union or confederacy get to use them against each other.

Questions for Americans from a graduate historian from Europe! Do you think that the decision of the Constitutional Court that the Confederation did not have the right to secede is unfounded and corrupt and that the Confederation had that right, because we know that the Constitution does not prohibit it? (The court decision gave legitimacy to the North to attack the Confederacy) Do you think that the real reason for the removal of the Confederate flag by the establishment is to erase the history and idea of that country? Do you think that life for the "ordinary man" in that country would be better today and that the influence of the establishment on people's lives would be felt less? Do you think that the north draws the resources of other republics, which can be seen in the lifestyle of the citizens? Do the former states of the confederation feel some kind of unity and belonging today, would they all still be a confederation if there was a division? Which all the states would give up to the confederation in addition to the old members? Do you think that every citizen and every federal state has a right to a referendum on remaining in the union and do all former members of the confederation have the right to a referendum and aspire to re-form the confederation? If that referendum were to happen, would the citizens of those states vote for the confederation? Do you think that a big initiative should be launched on the democratic right of every person and society to a referendum, so that the Americans could decide whether they want to serve the northern corporate establishment?

noah weathersby ... Well I'm not sure why you say that but they did . They were invaded by General Nathaniel Lyon and seceded the union in late 1861 because of it . Look up Missouri's sececession from the union document on Google . Before sececession they were ushered in to the Confederate States of America . This can all be found on the internet , so that makes arguing on a KZbin video unnecessary...unless of course you're just an argumentative person .

@noahweathersby24136 жыл бұрын
I am from Missouri as well. If you want to be very technical, the governor did declare that Missouri succeeded from the union after the invasion. This, however, did not hold any sway in the actual state of Missouri because the governor had no power within the state once the governor was exiled from Jefferson City. If you want to look at modern day Missouri: the population of St Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City would be too large for the state to actually separate from the Union. If anything it would be like back then where the state government (the legitimate one that had power, not the Confederate state government) would oppose succession but would not want to get involved in the fight against the Confederacy.

Having lived all over the country I am of the very strong opinion that many western and Midwestern states would definitely join a new confederacy. Other factors to consider from experience as a tradesman and prior service military person are that a new confederacy would be more left vs right politically than anything else meaning that though home states along place military personnel at nearly even in numbers, military personnel in general (around 70%+) are right wing or leaning as are the vast majority of skilled tradespeople. The same is easily said for the vast majority of hunters, law enforcement personnel, lawful firearms owners and those in the agricultural field. Now consider if you will a 2/3 majority with most of the military training and experience, familiarity with and readily available firearms, outdoor skills, experience with camouflage techniques, experience with stalking techniques, skilled laborers and those who supply almost all of the food to the entire country VS an outnumbered, unskilled, under supplied, inexperienced and mostly untrained force. Maybe I’m wrong but I doubt it.

I highly doubt a bunch of republicans, their trophy wives and cozy McMansions are going to put all that in jeopardy over "muh guns!" or whatever reason anyone would come up with to form a new confederacy. These aren't 19th century gentlemen that value honor and integrity above all else.
