I won’t be picking up any of these but I’m glad that small publishers exist to give voice to the endless diversity of thoughts and ideas. I also agree that some of these book designs are fabulous! Whorephobia sounds like it might be similar to Vollmann’s Rainbow Stories, if you are interested in underground culture stuff.

Weird. I mean, Discworld is kind of weird but in a good way. There were a couple of Choose Your Own adventure books like UFO 5440 and Hyperspace that were kind weird. Dead Astronauts by Vandermeer was VERY weird but was hard to read and I DNF. Have a good week, Star Queen.

The one stars 😂 love the honest reviews. I recommend Nutshell by Ian McEwan. It is a strange story told by a fetus still in his mother's womb. It follows his Mom and her boyfriend as they plan to murder the husband. It's definitely weird. Cheers.

Heather Lewis' Notice was somewhat interesting for me, but I agree with you that the writing style itself didn't pull me in. I put it in my brain that maybe it was deadpan as a way of coping. Overall, I think if someone is interested in fiction about sex work, it could be for them.
@ChanelChapters3 ай бұрын
I agree that perhaps she was stoic as a survival mechanism
@JulianWyllie3 ай бұрын
@ChanelChapters yeah, I'm not sure what edition you had, but mine had an introduction from Melissa Febos who said that Lewis tried to get “Notice” published as her second novel, but that it was repeatedly rejected by publishers when she was alive. Lewis wound up taking some of the same ideas and repackaging it for a different novel she called “The Second Suspect,” but that book wasn’t well-received by critics. Based on what people know of her, Lewis lived a hard and that seemed to show up in “Notice" to a degree.

One of the weirdest books I’ve ever read is called Leash by a woman whose name I can’t recall. It was actually kind of funny and I bet if it had pictures like those books in your vid it would have been VERY funny but maybe they’ll publish a new illustrated version one day. ⚛️
I'd praise you but that could be harmful. I'm thinking of giving up books for drawing. Can one really never read? It's necessary sometimes. I read a book called My FAIR JUNKY that had a lot about addictions including sex addiction.
