The part where food needs to be tossed every 15 minutes or so is company policy, but at the store I worked at, on off-hours, when the timer went off, especially with quarter pownders and the angus beef and other expensive items, mgmt would just reset the timer and wouldn't throw it away to reduce waste.

Speaking as someone who's worked at McD's for over 15 years.. 1 - Closed is closed. This isn't weird. 2 - Handwashing in foodservice is mandated by law. Not weird. 3 - This is basic product marketing and PR. Not weird. 4 - Free food? This is a no brainer, not weird. 5 - It's a safety issue. It's a Drive Thru, not a Walk Thru. not weird. 6 - How is this weird? You can't expect someone to call a pizza a pizza if it's made from chocolate cake. 7 - Pulling a customer ahead allows the store to serve other customers who have different orders while that first person's food is being prepared. This keeps lines from backing up. Not weird. 8 - McDonald's doesn't do Monopoly in my area anymore. But employees aren't allowed to participate in promotions due to unfairness to the public. Not weird. 9 - This was only ever a meme and never existed. There was never any hidden 'weird' menu. 10 - Old food is tossed due to food safety issues. Not weird. I thought I was going to see weird things. @MashedFood, care to explain?

Hygiene standards are usually set by the country/states health department the one I work at every 15 mins with a board that thoroughly explains step by step how to wash your hands. I like when she mentioned "if you don't want to wait a long time try to order menu items that don't take long to prepare." she is 100% right if you have a 50+ dollars order idk why people expect to be served in like under 1min. You can make and pack everything in a large lets say 70 dollar order super quickly.

When I was a kid McDonald’s tasted a lot better than it does now, because when we were almost there I could smell the food from a mile away, today you can’t smell it like you used to anymore so you can’t tell but for those who can see they’re able to tell because they can see the sign but I am not able to tell anymore because I go by smell being blind. The only way to know is if I ask somebody are we at McDonald’s and they say yes, but when I was a kid I knew that I was almost there because I could smell the food without having to ask somebody. Ordering no salt doesn't mean fresh. Fries have a quality span of 7 minutes before the QA goes off on the frier and the fries are no longer quality assured. Technically you order "no salt" they could be any where from fresh pulled to 7 minutes old. If you politely ask them to "cook to order" they have a specific button for that in the grill menu that they can press to make sure the are freshly pulled before being handed to you. Not really a hack, just the correct way to order. Of course when I do fries they are usually gone before QA goes off. Fries take just over 3 minutes to cook, a few seconds to drip the oils back into the frier, and then salt/scoop into the box/bag.
@JaneDoe-tc8to2 жыл бұрын

At mcdonalds in the UK, or at least the ones I've worked in, the food being fresh really isn't a concern. All the food is made fresh when the order is placed, with the only exception occasionally being fries, which do get tossed if they are left out too long. It's probably worse going at busy hours because the cooks have to make food for multiple orders at once rather than focusing on a specific order.

All hot ingredients have hold times, like 7min for fries after they cooked. This means after that time period the food gets tossed into a waste bucket, to be counted later, and is replaced as needed. When busy most items are used before this time expires but when slow some times they last past this time lowering quality (dried out nuggets). Or wait times increase while it's being made fresh. It depend on the strictness of the management and crew of the location
