My dad had a 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint with a 289-racing engine in it. It took 90 pounds of weight over each rear wheel to keep traction in the wintertime. I can't count the number of weekends spent helping him in rebuilding the clutch assembly and u-joints on that car from him dragging from stop lights, but it was fun. Fond memories.

2:40 what people don't get is that the catalysts in catalytic converters are combustion catalysts. Carbon buildup next to them acts like "palladium on carbon", AKA "powdered sparks" normally used for hydrogenation reactions for hydrocarbons but which make oxidations run away once started. Put too much heat and air through and that carbon buildup will exceed its catalyst lowered flash point and promptly burn. This is made vastly worse by flow restriction in a catalytic converter sized for the engine before it got air and fuel flow improvements. Disintegration increases surface area, thus also combustion rate. Translation: hybrid rocket engine is the closest available model. If you see glowing hot exhaust, it is not happy, and if its also coked up, its going to get very unhappy.
