Yeap, I switched to high socks with Adidas low top shoes. I don't want my skin rubbing against the shoe and over time having that human sebum stain in the rim of my shoes from touching and rubbing against my ankle skin.

Antonio I have a unique way of getting the perfect pair of shorts. I’m 6’4” and have fairly long legs. The BEST way for me to get the perfect fit for my shorts is to purchase a pair of quality trousers on clearance (tech pants, chinos, even light weight wool slacks). I cut them at the exact length I want and then get them professionally hemmed. $10 clearance pants + $10 hem, makes the perfect pair of shorts. You can even push the envelope a little with printed fabrics as long as you ground them with a solid shirt and minimalist sneakers, or drivers.

I live in New Orleans, where the climate allows shorts to be comfortably worn most of the year. Temperatures in the 60s Fahrenheit are typical for winter and mean you can finally wear those jackets that have been in storage all year, while the summer humidity means your sweat is not going to evaporate. I'm in my 40s and still live in shorts most of the year whenever I'm off work. As a teenager in the 90s, I was used to the longer knee length inseams, then when shorter inseams became popular (around the time the brand Chubbies came around), I switched and wondered why I had been letting my thighs be hot in the summer. I'm also only 5'6" and slim, so I realized I looked better in them.

7” shorts are still pretty long. 6” would be ideal but if a guys legs are somewhat muscular than 5” is best.

Woman here, but I can relate, lol. I like wearing 3" to show off my quads, and longer also makes me look shorter! Similar logic for skirts and dresses, though for obvious reasons they need to be slightly longer than shorts, lol.

Great in-depth video. As for me, I only wear shorts when I’m hiking. I use running shorts with a built-in spandex liner and the outer is quick-drying synthetics. Works great. I use crew length darn-tough socks with trail runners. Other than that I’m just not a fan of shorts in a casual or semi formal setting. But to each their own? Have a good one guys.

As a 60 year old i was around in the 1970's and back then i always wore jean cut offs, they were very popular and we just let the edges get frays, they would keep fraying until they became very short. Now i usually wear 100% cotton or Linin Cargo shorts at 6 to 7 inches, any shorter looks dated for this era, and longer just looks sloppy, even though the manufacturers make longer shorts than 7 inches. Its just very difficult to find 100% Cotton anymore, recently i cut a pair of old 100% cotton kakis off at 6 inches and took them to Tailor for a hem.

Funny I came across this just as I'd recently searched for some jeans shorts, but the store said they 'weren't much in demand anymore.' I happen to love them for summer. Oh, yeah--I'm a 76 year old woman, who prefers men's pants because they are more practical. I hate carrying a purse; I want my hands free, but women's pants have skimpy "just for looks" pockets, and things fall out! With mens' pants/shorts, I can put my wallet in my hip pocket, my phone in the other, change and pocket knife in a front pocket, and tissues in the other, and I'm all set to go. I would love cargo shorts for camping! (You guessed it; I've always been a tomboy, and would rather climb a tree than dress up for a party! At this stage of my life, it's all about comfort: first, last, and in the middle, and I don't even own a dress or skirt! My "dress" clothes consist of my newest pair of jeans! 😁)

I feel so ancient. I'm now 85 & counting and couldn't care less what I look like most of the time, but when I was much younger and still on the market and trolling for attention, I kept up with the current styles. I look at my wardrobe now and other than underwear & compression stockings, I haven't purchased ANYTHING for TWO DECADES.... and from what I see, I won't need to buy any. I do not own a suit or even a sports jacket that fit me. I don't even own a shirt that will take a tie... but I sure have a lot of ties... they run from about 2" wide to about 5" wide.

For the summer, linen clothes are your best friend. I my shorts are mostly deck shorts in a range of colors. I'm rocking my Nautica or Tommy Bahama deck shorts & my wide array of linen shirts this summer.

0:17 I tried the 7 inch inseam at the Adidas store and I felt like a 304. I don't know, it was too high, and the way it draped on my butt it was a huge no. I bought the next size with 2 inches above the knee and it looks good. Anything else, you are looking like a street walker.

No show socks are NOT complementary to a man's legs. A short athletic sock has far more comfort as well as eye appeal. Also boots work great with shorts. Work boots, dress boots, and hitops are a perfect match with shorts. I once had a woman compliment my khaki /work boot combo (after eyeballing me up and down} A female coworker even copied my "ensemble" after also eyeballing and complementing.

What no one tells you about men's shorts is that they still freak some people out. The transition from short pants to longies was a male rite of passage for decades (subtly suggesting the, shall we say, growing prominence of a certain part of the male anatomy), and a surprising number of people still believe grown men have no business wearing shorts in public except the beach and certain sporting occasions. Did you know it wasn't until 1974 that mail carriers were first allowed to wear shorts? As for the so-called shorts suit, you see them in magazines and on runways a lot more than you'll see them in real life. Men in shorts still aren't welcome in fancy restaurants, courtrooms, and most offices (even on Casual Friday). And if Senator John Fetterman wants to buck the trend with his trademark shorts and hoodies, can they at least be nice shorts?

Im amazed how no one knows about the barefoot insoles made of sock material. You insert them into your shoe and you dont need to wear socks. My kids hated wearing socks and they would get their feet and shoes all stinky. I bought them these insoles, which are washable, and all stinky problems were solved.
