At the scene of one accident in Germany, a firefighter kept people from filming out of their their cars simply by turning a firehose on the cars where people were filming. In another instance, a police officer stopped some cars where drivers were filming, got the driver out and invited him to take a closer look, saying „There’s a dead body in there - wanna see? Come on, take a look!“ The vast majority of people were suddenly not that keen on filming anymore and preferred to leave the scene...but not without a fine and in some cases penalty points.

LeeWhy It largely depends on the vehicle you’re driving, thanks to reality TV it’s now common knowledge how old unmarked vehicles are, and the models being used can be found on the local force’s website - and who crews them. Ultimately though, if it takes a sticker to alter the attitudes and behaviour of motorists’ then cars should have 5 random questions from the Highway Code to be answered correctly before the engine can be started - most modern consoles could easily handle that, and an alcohol test, a drug screen test, and a baton and cuffs secreted in the headrests for passengers to make safe and efficient civilian arrests and detainment until someone in uniform arrives and Tazes them before releasing them back into society. The car can then text all the members of the driver’s family to alert them as to the extent of the misdemeanour which should then also be shown at the end of the national news alerting other drivers to avoid the city where the highest rate of offences occur, thus impacting on local economy and hopefully leading to the mandatory use of bicycles under the pretext of the alleged adverse effects to health from any airborne carcinogens and contaminants, the danger posed by biofuels to the ionosphere and ozone layers further impacting on an atmosphere not conducive to good health and long living. Repeat offenders should be sent to Brazil or India where they can learn how to drive with reckless endangerment properly and safely. Oops, almost got spotted there, but I believe that mild intoxication and occasional phone use helps me to really concentrate more on driving safely - well, more alertly as I’m now mindful of the tricks coppers use, especially us traffic bobbies as we have additional embarrassment to deal with at the nick. This probably warranted a post of its own rather than being a lengthy response to a valid point well presented. It’s also true.

In VA where I live now there’s at least 1 major crash a year on a road near my house. People love racing and even if not racing where I live people feel they need to be somewhere quickly. If a road is 35mph people believe they should go at least 40 mph and usually go 60 and above. It’s very terrifying. I was heading to school one time turned and bam someone was behind me. We avoided an accident but people go so fast there is no telling when they’ll be behind. The most I ever go is 10 mph over speed limit but most of time just 5. People hate me because that’s slow to them. I’ve had people even cut in front of the car during a red light driving straight into traffic just missing others

For road construction areas in the US, our transportation agencies both live cal and national, erect portable concrete barriers to close any existing lanes and protect the construction workers. They can then work during the day and ease the nighttime complaint and workers also benefit from not having the sleep/ wake cycles interrupted. Additionally the public can see the progress of the construction When motorists can see the progress, they are at a greater position to support the work,maintain lower speeds and thereby lessen the incidence of collisions. The government should have acquired the triangle field from the farmer as part of the land acquisition process.

I switched on my hazard lights and pulled over onto the shoulder. I called for a tow truck and I also called the police to ask if they could send a trooper out to make sure that I was all right since traffic was just whizzing by me. They are well aware of the risks they are putting themselves and others under by dangerous driving. An accident is an unavoidable collision, ie a heart attack, a stroke, a seizure, a fallen tree, an animal etc. That 10% cannot be avoided

Most accidents occur at low speeds, out “smart” motorways and average speed camera areas cause problems. Most people lose concentration in these areas sat in traffic, I travel a thousand miles a week and I see the same accidents over and over again. Speed doesn’t cause accidents bad driving does, people on phones etc. Most of the time people are watching out for speed cameras etc rather than watching the road, I do it even when I’m not speeding as it’s a worry in your mind. Government doesn’t know what they are really doing.

A gallon or two of that spilled milk and a few loaves of bread would have found it's way into my fridge if i was there that's for sure. The entire load was a loss as far as the insurance company is concerned so why not? 20 years ago my truck caught fire with a load of fresh cut flowers heading to local flower shops for Valentine's day. The fire was due to some electrical malfunction in the engine, probably some faulty wiring. The entire cab and the top half of the trailer was a total loss but there were quite a few boxes on the bottom of the pallets that were untouched. My boss arrived on the scene a couple hours later while the fire crew was doing cleanup and he told them to help themselves to as much of it as they want because the entire load was a loss.

Many, many years ago my grandfather and dad were on a local volunteer fire department which responded to a freight train derailment. It was very rural and only 2-3 box cars rolled off the tracks with little damage to them. They were full of vegetables and frozen chickens. The train people said everything had to be disposed of. I recall my grandmother and mom canning and freezing cases of vegetables and chicken. Local schools and even the tiny local hospital welcomed free food - back in the days schools actually cooked lunch, and the hospital wasn't obsessing over liability problems. I imagine today's health inspector would have a cow, but no one got sick, except we burned out over all the meals with chicken.

"No Such Thing As An Accident"? I challenge that. Having attended about 2700 traffic crashes as a paramedic, I can recall about 4 that were could be deemed "accidents", due to extrinsic natural factors such as a tree branch falling and killing an occupant. Apart from those and the very infrequent acute medical episode causing a crash, the others certainly weren't "accidents".
@imconfused12375 жыл бұрын
Coover | Indeed. No one wakes up and thinks ‘I know, I’ll go and have a collision today’. The suggestion that people crash intentionally is disgustingly offensive. Accidents always happen. Circumstances may have contributed to its likelihood, but it still remains an accidental event.
@coover655 жыл бұрын
@@imconfused1237 I speak as somebody had careers in ambulance and policing when I say we refer to an "accident" as an event where no human fault could be attributed to the event. People may not certainly intend to crash, but stupid acts while operating a motor vehicle such as not paying attention and driving beyond their abilities cause crashes. I'd estimate that 99% of crashes can be attributed to human blame, and therefore not classed in the eyes of the law as "accidents".

I passed both my motorbike and car driving tests in 1983. I am now 57 years old. In the 40 years of having a full licence the driving standards of motorists in the UK have dropped. It's not just me who's noticed this. I was at a scene of an RTC as part of the recovery. A driver in a Reliant Robin pulled out of a junction junction straight into the path of an oncoming BMW. The cause was the Reliant driver not paying attention and obviously the BMW driver was very shook up. Unfortunately as the Reliant was made of fibreglass the driver was killed instantly.
