Professor Kate Williams studies the legacy of the Stuarts through the eyes of an aristocratic Welsh clan. After Elizabeth I's death in 1603, James VI of Scotland claimed the throne.
The Stuart dynasty lived through arguably the most eventful, bloodthirsty and trying period in British history, and this series reassesses the royal house's history and legacy in a new and unique way.
From Elizabeth II to Cleopatra, Real Royalty peels back the curtain to give a glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential families in the world, with new full length documentaries posted every week covering the monarchies of today and all throughout history.

@razorramona9963

James was Mary Stuart's (Scottish Queen) son, she was granddaughter of Margaret Tudor, daughter of Henry VII, sister of Henry VIII. Elizabeth was the last of the Tudors, so succession went all the way back up to Margarets line. Many believe to this day that Mary Stuart should have inherited the crown from Edward VI because Mary Tudor and Elizabeth Tudor were considered illegitimate

@@BiG-JuPO1O1 no, Edward was rightful heir after Henry8 died, as he was the only legitimate son. Sons were always first in line over daughters. It wasn't until 2011 that daughters born to the sovereign had equal right to the throne as sons. Princess Charlotte is the first this change applies to. Should anything happen to her brother Prince George, she will assume the throne over her brother Louis. It was when the sovereign ONLY had daughters, as in the case with ER2, that the crown went to first born daughter.

And Oliver Cromwell was also shipping out the Jacobites too in 1625 so this also proves that the nobility of Dukes, Kings, Lords that time were people of colour which history has hidden.

I recently discovered that my family is descended from this family. King James II and Goditha Price had a daughter, Mary Price Stuart who married William Edward MacBean. It is from these two that I trace my way back through the many kings and queens in my family line. As an American, who has always taken a dim view of royalty, this has come as somewhat of a shock to me. Remember Braveheart? Both Longshanks and Robert the Bruce are in my family history. That makes it difficult to cheer on either side now in the movie, right? Not really, I always have been a sucker for the underdog. For some reason the royals have made James II a pariah. Yet, his son James III was also made a king. I still have not figured out if the royal family would accept me as kin, or if they would dismiss me as just another Yank? Funny thing is, even after 11 generations from Mary and William, I still have that pointy nose the Stuart males seem to all have. Suddenly, English history is interesting. This came from my Father's side of the Family. Then I looked through my Mom's tree... more royalty, although of lower rank, still, what an interesting thing to find out. I sound like an ad for familysearch.org, but, they have opened up a whole new interesting side of life that will keep my remaining years busy as I study history and try to work out the nuances of English succession and such. Charles I killed by Oliver Cromwell and his crew. James II run off for his catholic belief. James I and the King James Bible... all lived exceedingly strange, political, terrifying and bloody lives. I have still to get to the French kings and the other kings of different countries which I can not even remember right now. These people didn't often breed outside of their families, which included the royal families of many countries back then. I think they call us common born. Now I can call them similar to I born.

As I always say: Queen Elizabeth I of England wasn't a "hero" - just because she just won one naval battle who eventually she lost... The REAL hero of the "Protestant" England was James I/VI: He restored the British Crown Treasury, he consolidated power... The Tudors Dynasty was a mess (Henry VIII caused civil wars, killing thousands of Brits... Mary of Tudor killed 500 "protestants"... And Elizabeth I allied with Turks in a conspiracy plan to destroy Spain and the HRE; Elizabeth I hired pirates to assault Spanish and Portuguese ships, she never rewarded those soldiers who fought against the Spanish Armada - she killed thouands of Catholics. - and it was good for England that they (Tudors) would end.

10:13 PM 11/20/2020 England and Scotland were already excommunicated from the catholic church because of their royal family members on throne correct? England and Scotland were two different countries back in the day ruled by two different royal families. The catholic church was more political than religious starting all kinds of drama with the royal families in Europe. When England and Scotland broke away from the catholic church they came together as a whole under King James VI and I and the two countries had their own christian culture which was protestant. The american people dont know this stuff and I would be the same way who cares but you needed to know this stuff to figure out why the USA is like this with christian culture. USA did the samething breaking away from the British Empire as the 13 colonies and you created your own christian culture (own laws around 1775 I think not 76) separated from the Church of England. Patriots were the bad guys not the Loyalists. 13 Colonies were part of the British Empire under the Royal family. I sided with the Loyalists. Loyalists were colonists too in the colonies as american but sided with the Royal family. Patriots were a domestic terrorist group attacking the royal family.

If I was a believer I'd think god has an issue with Catholicism. England broke from it and god showed favor on Protestant rule. If you look at religious depiction of Jesus before Catholicism you do not see the suffering of him on crosses and the teaching of guilt of original sin.

When I come to a video like this one, I automatically wonder who ultimately has something to gain by presenting this information, I love my KJV Bible, so when I see a video like this where the King who authorized my Bible to be made is being presented in a manner as to make him look like a criminal thug and by that implication smear my Bible all in one fell stroke, I think who has the most to gain from this video and that thought leads me to Rome. you can take it to the bank that somewhere this video and its content lead down a winding path back to Rome.

I very rarely post a negative review...however, this young lady was extremely overdramatic with this presentation. I would have liked to have been given the facts without the 'acting'. And yes, I noticed she has a speech impediment; so, perhaps speak a little slower? I had to rewind to understand a few things she said. I do enjoy the history lessons. Thank you.

*Wow, you're overly critical!* If you can't understand their regional accents & need to rewind as you've complained about, I'd suggest putting on subtitles or watch a different channel altogether. Next you'll be complaining about her widen eyes & her front teeth. The whole episode is riddled with dramatically enhanced skits, it's her history & she should be behaving this way naturally. She spoke slowly enough, English isn't my own first language & I understand her perfectly. Any slower & those *in need of a history lesson would be bored to tears!*
