To my non-British friends, marrow is a fully grown zucchini. Most zucchini that people eat is picked before it grows to full size. I once grew a zucchini (marrow) to the size of a newborn baby! They don’t have much flavour but they have add a nice texture and absorb whatever flavour they’re paired with. Hope this was helpful 😊🥒

How do they not catch their tea towels on fire flipping them around so close to the flame in the gas stove. He sure scared me with it, I use oven mitts or the little hot pads that fit on the end of the handles.

Some Americans like to think their biscuits are similar to scones (they’re really not), for Brits a biscuit is what Americans call a cookie. I’m a Brit expat and still go back and forth even 40 years later, including with the spelling and pronunciation. Plays havoc on my spellcheck keyboard.

When he said pudding rice he means short grain. I looked for arborio rice that was recommended, but the price was insane. I tried sushi rice, which is short grain too, and the rice pudding went just fine. 12 egg yolks though? A bit much!

There are basic chutney recipes in the Ball canning book. I can't understand how she thinks using a copper pan is not reactive . A stainless pan is used for vinager based, items . And bla apples are not used. A tart fruit is used. A hot pepper in some varieties . Chutney was the first recipe I learned to can and its fun and easy. .

I'm so envious that Anna is using a pudding basin just like a regular old kitchen bowl! Where I live in Canada (East coast), good luck finding a proper pudding basin in a store!!! Of course, I could order one online... for $80!!!!! Cheap as chips in the UK; precious here. Why?!?!??!?!!

I make Paella (pa-ey-ya) and it can have seafood, or chicken or sausage. It is mainly a rice dish mith short grain rice. Very spaniard typical dish made different ways depending on the area of Spain.

That paella looks more like a thick sauce rather than a rice dish. 😐 I mean, it's not even yellow, it's red all around! Maybe it's the cooking gods punishment for that god-forsaken pronunciation of _paella_ and _chorizo._

I didn't know chutney was thought of as English! I always thought of it as Indian because it is served frequently in Indian restaurants! Plus the name sounds very Indian!

Apparently it did originate in India but melded with British culture as India was a colony. Similarly many Britains love curry which is traditionally Indian cuisine.

I went through to be a Journalist & if I’d pulled that back in the day, I would’ve had my head chewed off for lazy reporting. Which is what that is!! 2nd, I have Vision Problems & hate how now if you use the * around a word to try & emphasize a word, it gets turned into the teeniest, tiniest & next to impossible to read font. I’m sure I’m not the only one & I’ve been seeing more & more of late People leaving comments w/a word they want to emphasize in all caps. 3rd, since you’re the only one complaining, might I make a suggestion. See above? Get used to seeing it happening around on YT these days, as People actually like being able to see what they’re reading!!

I like that crepe dessert thing but I didn't like the fact that he scratched his ear prior to making it. And that's one of the reasons why I like to cook for myself. At least I know I'm eating my own ear scratch dead cells along with the dish I just concocted. lol

Like the guy making rice pudding. After he tasted the blueberry mixture, he tapped the spoon into the pot, so whatever was left on his tasting spoon went back into the pot. That's yucky. Anne Burrell on Food Network always did the same thing on her show.

@@lemperez No the rice is cooked in the broth of the other ingredients... It's an art to get it the right texture.

Sorry but that IS NOT Paella. The roasted pepers go as a garnish after it's done cooking and ready to be served. It does not take lemons (or limes)
