So, when they were saying 180°, that was in Celsius? We Americans are so out of the loop when conversing with people in other countries about anything referring to a temperature. See, I would have attempted to make that yule log and it would not have come out right and I would have had no idea why. Thank you for the clarification. It's not something I would have thought about.

@@karenwood2615 I have noticed eggs with those orange colored yolks from local farmers and grocery stores. Some companies have those sorry can't remember the name of the store bought at the moment Starts with a S. The butter is the same color as really good Amish or local butter from local dairies that sell local butter in tubs covered with waxed paper and saran wrap with a rubber band to hold closed in stores. Not really that expensive either and you support local farmers instead of corporation or smaller companies that sell in markets. The color of the yolk like the color of the egg shell comes from what the birds are eating. Plus since you won't be eating tons of this support your local farmers they need you funds more than those big companies.

In the last little bit, you can actually hear the flakiness of the pastry. It is actually impressive. I am now hungry for pastry, but I don't like sweets, or maybe more accurately I don't along with them. I am trying to come up with the memory of when I last heard that sound, and I think it was a fruity turnover, possibly apple. Obviously store bought, none of us in my circle cook THAT well! Actually, there are only 2 of us who cook much at all, and we don't make pastry. The other doesn't have the time, and I don't eat enough of it to bother.

Hi there, I am from Sri Lanka and I love traditional British Food. Please tell me what are the ingredients in the white liquid that you poach the fish in.

I think you’ll find it’s milk that’s used as the poaching liquid. When I poach smoked cod for fish pie I use milk. Hope this helps.

This might be a silly question, but I wonder how do they keep food or something like that stuffed puff pastry dish warm when they have to make so many of them. Does anyone know?

Michael Buerk described Queen Victoria's pigeon and beef pie as "a dainty dish to set before the queen..." b'b'but this must be a creative, new use of the word "dainty" with which I was previously unfamiliar.
