Russian architecture is so interesting to me 😷
@daniilgergiev39994 жыл бұрын
Stalinist, I believe in what I see in the closing, inspired heavily by Classical, but also with modernism of course. Much different than modern built American buildings, which are just well, modern, post-Victorian or so. And I'm talking about even the 1940s (Stalin's time) lacks that same elegance. But, "Europe" (Russia will always not be quite Europe, sort of like Britain, but we'll call it that) had its taste still. You see the practical in Stalinist architecture, as its Communist, but you see that affection for the Classical that the Russians loved so much. American architecture always tended to be, in the 20th century, commercial...practical in that way...in a way worse than Communism in a way because there were no ideals behind it, only the practical. Am I supporting Communism? No, but only saying that an ideal gives something stronger to art than something practical.

That's a nice looking restaurant you went to. With the exception of not knowing the language, I could sit at the bar there and feel right at home. I wish they would re-open the restaurants here in Phoenix, Arizona soon. . . the last time I sat down at a restaurant here was on March 15. Most are take out or delivery only now . . . not the same. Barber shops and gyms are closed too. So many are out of work due to this and Arizona has some of the worst unemployment benefits in the country. Thankfully we have a pro business governor who, I believe wants to re-open the economy as soon as he can.

STill open where I am at, nothing hasnt really closed much, I avoid them like the plague.. Stores and restaurants in it self is dangerous as we will never get rid of it due to us getting together. And restaurants in general don't offer sickleave in any country or the USA, they all WORK SICK WITH THE VIRUS, people seem not to understand this. Should be doing a complete shutdown if you want to keep people from interacting with one or the other, the virus will evolve and be harder to get rid of.

My wife does go to work where there is no real contact with workmates and does our grocery shopping on Saturday mornings when they have special shopping hours just for seniors. I love Sherlock Holmes, nice to know you have a place called as such. Also Hello Dimetri(sorry if I did not spell correctly, PR Manager, it is a pleasure to meet you! Sergey, it sounds like Putin and Russian government is doing the right thing at this time by letting regional governments decide how to go about easing restrictions for exactly the reason it should be done that way, because they know the terrain and what the region can handle. Unfortunately, Mr. Trump has declared himself dictator yesterday and is not allowing or trying not to allow the governors of our states to do what is right, which like your regions are doing, by easing restrictions cautiously and being at the ready should things go bad. He wants everything back to the way it was before as soon as next week, while the experts who know say that is too soon especially since we are still not doing near enough testing, making it difficult to track so we will know what to do. It is wise to be careful because a second wave could be worse than the first. Experts say you can't treat this like a light switch. On the bright side many people here are saying while they would love to get back to normal they would rather be safe over jumping back in too soon. I love the Russian attitude of the safety of people is most important! Sergey, I love the attitude of your friend there putting the workers first. He understands. Also thank you for leaving a big tip and your understanding. It is same here in the US. Just today I went out of my way to thank the people at a local takeout place! They deserve recognition after this nightmare is over! They get paid very little and yet are working kind of a front lines. Of course, the hospital and healthcare workers are really front lines, but still, the grocery store and restaurant workers are risking themselves to provide for others at very little pay. I don't understand much Russian at all (yet), but you can speak Russian all day to me and I don't mind as I find it a beautiful language anyway. If nothing else, I want good Russian people to be safe and of course especially my friends like you, Marta and Valeria and Alex.
