At the 25th of March, 2020, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, addressed to Russian people regarding the coronavirus.
He announced the week off with saving of salary from 28th of March to 5th of April, 202 and strictly recommended to sit at home. Important to notice, it's not a quarantine yet, but recommendation. But there is a quarantine for state organizations, mass events and most of business, except grocery and drug stores.
Today, at the 29th of March, I went to the streets of Ufa, Russia to see how it goes. The streets were empty. It seems like most of Russians decided to be responsible and really stay home. Sure, not absolutely ALL, but MOST.
In the same time, Russia presents Covid-19 treatment based on existing anti-malaria drug. Russian specialists said they've come up with an effective way to treat Covid-19 using an anti-malarial drug. This type of medication is now widely researched around the globe as a possible remedy from the pandemic.

And still your govt haven't gotten to the idea that it should actually be in charge of the combined effort to combat it, so it leaves it up to the states to figure it out which have been proving to be conter productive and ensures that you'll have this problem for many months. You can say what you want about the defacto dictator Putin, but at least he is capable of doing his job in this regard. I’m Italian. There are many Russians in Italy. Also in Bergamo, Verona, Milan, Venice and the North. Russia has more control so the leadership is more effective. They are practicing self-isolation because the country knows that situations can quickly escalate hence the immediate paranoiac closure of the borders. They can effectively implement executive orders which “democratic” nations fail to do. I adore Russia and wish the western world will someday honour and respect their resilience and dedication to their own people.

How I wish I was Russian right now Sergey, here in UK we are practically under house arrest. We have to queue outside supermarkets 2 meters apart, Vegetables are in short supply, difficult to find anywhere and many other basic items including toilet roll. If you need to drive, the police will send you home unless a valid reason to be out can be proved, some may even be fined about 75 dollars equivalent (£60). We are only allowed to leave the house once per day for short exercise including shopping trips. This is likely to last for at least 3 months, we are only 6 days into it today.

And vit. D & C Its about keeping the rate of infection slow. We are all socail distancing in Australia.. its not bad yet here & hopefully we are all doing the right things to keep it not going too fast. It's about slowing the spread. It is a bronchial virus, that can develop into pneumonia. Mainly so far it is the elderly who have died, aged between 60 & 80.. about 19 approx. I remember the video also that you did, about closing the boarder between Russia & China... that was a very smart move. Our cases came from overseas that came into or from returning citizens from overseas! As it started to spread communally, our states & territories shut their individual boaders & we shut our Country boarders up. We in Australia don't have the same numbers as overseas. But every thing has progressed rather quickly. Life is now very different, we can still go out if we must, but no more then two people at a time, some shops are still open, but most have been closed down, cafè's & restaurant can only do takeaways & home delivery. Our issue may be more, when do we come out of our hibernation... the federal government is talking six months or longer! It is amazing what we are seeing all over the world. There are reports from citizens of the epicenter in China, it was more like 5000 that may have died & do not believe that it is only old people ect... young people, even healthy people can get complications. I hope like Russia we have acted quickly enough. Our curb was going up, but it may be flattening, but apperently this virus does weird things & anything is possible, but I feel blest to be in Australia, our Government has kind of made a arc to see it through. But after we will have big depression to deal with. We have to wash fruit & veggies, becareful of what we take & bring into our homes as it can sit on surfaces. So to disinfect & wash our hands too. When out to wear gloves. Your Russia is so beautiful... hopefully Pres. Putin has acted at the right time, to slow it down. We are trying to take care of the elderly & indigenous people, also those with disabilities, low Immunocomprimised. Take care of your gorgeous family. Sending love from here in Oz 🐨🇦🇺 Love your video's ♡

Good luck my friend. Here in Detroit three weeks ago we had one of our construction sites quarantined when we arrived to do work. We laughed and said someone probably jsut had the flu so they panicked and closed the site down prematurely. That was the first time it came to our state and now TONS of people are getting infected a short time later. As others said, it seems far away and like you dont need to take it too seriously, but it spreads fast and strong. Of course quarantine will NOT stop the virus it will only delay it and slow it down. All we can hope for is some sort of vaccine in the next year or two for those strong enough to resist it.

I work at a grocery store and I see this every day! Many of these shoppers do not need to come into our stores so often. They should shop once, to last them a week or two. Instead, many people go to grocery stores every day or so ! I've seen people come in with friends and just walk around without buying anything!!! That is how this virus spreads! I HAVE to be there! They don't! I do NOT want this virus or any other virus, that they might inadvertently pass on to me, or anyone else. Stay home means STAY HOME!

@Kyril J Hi. What is the percentage of those infected and die from the flu? From what I've learned, it's 0.1%. With the coronavirus, the mortality rate is between 1 and 3%. That's 10 times more lethal than the flu ( I'm getting this info from the National institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases ). So it's the severity of this virus that is the reason why the world is trying to mitigate it. Also, there currently is no immunity; no known treatment, no vaccine and a longer incubation period than the flu. If the world just treated the corona virus like the flu, then I believe there will be far more deaths from this corona virus, than the flu.

Be safe, Sergey. I hope you are correct and the virus has not really arrived (yet) in Russia. But as for me in NYC, I've been in quarantine since 10 March. It'll be a month tomorrow. The virus is tearing thru this town and I know two people who died from the virus.

I agree. Russians tend not to go to Europe (need a Schengen visa). Rather Egypt, Cyprus, etc, where visas are easy, or not required. Also, I've read that the Russian test for COVID-19 may not be as sensitive as say the US version, resulting in fewer positives. Anyway, we're all in it together. Another great video. Looking to get back to SPb when this is over :)

The decision of Lock Down is the only way to stop the spread as the vaccine of COVID -19 is still not available, your President made a good decision. Staying at home or keeping social distancing is difficult for some people but at least it is safe for you and others BTW, drone view of the city looks good . Be safe , Sergei 👍👍

I hope your area of country is far from both Moscow and the border of China. This spreads like wildfire. They are not agreeing and do not often mention it, but it has been mentioned, and many in the medical profession believe this virus is aerosolized. I think we had 2 cases in USA in February. Now in New York we have had thousands infected, 750 a day are dying in New York City. And still we do not have adequate test kits even for our medical personnel. Our federal government, under Trump, has told the states to buy their own respirators, masks and protective clothing for our hospitals. Then his federal government steps in and buys the supplies right out from under the states, creating bidding wars where states have to pay nine times the price of an item to acquire it. Trump will hold these supplies federally and dole them out as he pleases. He has held these supplies back from governors of states who have angered him. Never have we had a president defy the laws of our country like Trump. But he has the backing of half the Congress and acts like a king. American citizens will just have to bite the bullet and dig in until the next election. After that, if Trump is still in power, well maybe we can leave the country. Eighty percent of people who get this are never hospitalized. Twenty percent are hospitalized. Of those hospitalized 40 percent are put on respirators. Of those put on respirators 85 percent die. So no matter how many are infected, we will survive as a species. Most of us will survive. But, although this mows down the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, we have had many young, otherwise healthy people die. So be very, very careful. Putin will probably lie about the number of cases and cover it up, as Trump has done. But, unlike Trump, Putin has brains. He will never allow the Russian people to be infected at the rate New York has been without putting in place quarantine, electronic tracking of virus patients. In short, he will probably do what they have in Wuhan. He will contain it. There are no laws preventing him from putting forth draconian measures. Sometimes draconian measures are necessary. Our governor, who has been great throughout this whole scenario, in the beginning kept New York open for business two weeks longer than he should have and the virus spread. Keep away from the border, the epicenters where the virus has spread, wash hands constantly, disinfect high traffic areas of house a few times a day plus disinfect and clean house like a madman, wear gloves, wipe down shopping cart when shopping, clean off groceries and throw out bags when coming into the house. Wear a mask while in high traffic areas and supermarket, don't go to bars, restaurants, stay around close family and friends regardless of where you live. They will have a vaccine in two years. You must stay safe until then.

Hi Sergey. Thanks for sharing your view of your city and your opinions. Only 7 or so deaths in Russia, from this virus ? Why then, is it that there is such a lock down there? Why is there not many people out, if it wasn't a serious situation there ? With all the infections and deaths going on around the world, why is that in Russia, it is very few ? That doesn't make sense to me Sergey. I know you've explained that many Russians don't travel too much in the winter and such, so there shouldn't be a problem going out in your town, right! This virus has no boundaries. "Everything is under control," yet people are told to stay at home ! ? Can you share with us what's going on in North Korea, about this virus, if you know? No one seems to know. The people there are people too! They MUST be having a problem with this virus, being right next to China and South Korea! Thank you, my friend.

It is good to see people taking responsibility on their own. Not so here in America. Since schools, businesses, state government closed, we have people out everywhere, partying, spitting on others to give them the virus(that happened to me), thefts, drugs gone crazy- There is no authority to stop them. We will only get worse- and those of us who are responsible will get sick from the others. Thank you, Russia for doing the Right Thing. Thank you for your report!

It's obvious this thing can really get out of hand if no measures are taken at all. It's even kind of getting out of hand if partcial lockdowns are done. Yeah our city in US is like this, but just a bit more traffic. Everything closed except banks, grocery stores and pick up at restaurants (you can't go inside). Parks are open but playground equipment is off limits. Just take it somewhat cautious and be safe, but no reason to panic. Mostly your older relatives are at risk. Nice look at how you all are handling it.

I’m glad russia has very few cases that is good news... but I have a question for you to think about.. russia is much closer to China then many of the countries with high infection rates.. such as Italy and America.. I curious about that.. I’m not saying anyone is lying about how many people are infected in russia I curious why the number is so low.. did China contact Putin? Did China cut off travel to russia way ahead of time? These are important things to know.. of course I don’t expect anyone to have those answers but it’s something to think about

As of today, I believe there are 3 States in the US that have not put restrictions on people from going out in public, though many people like myself have already been self quarantined for weeks. I only go out for the necessities and try to buy extra so I don't have to go out as often. The hardest hit areas are the big cities, especially NYC. Putin seems to be a wise man, and I respect the Russian people for listening to him. He asked people to stay home and they are doing as he asked, so he doesn't have to issue a "stay at home" order. Here, neither the Governors nor the people are very concerned and that attitude may get a lot of people killed.

It's pretty well the same over here in the US Sergey. Some places have more restrictions than others. Also I think our news media is fanning the flames causing people to over react. We had a major run on toilet paper over here. I have no idea why as the viraus is a respiratory problem. People in some areas are hoarding goods which is causing shortages of some goods. I hope people over there have more sense. Be safe.

Hi Sergey. The Russian government and the Russian Medical establishment showed good sense doing what they did. They deserve admiration. Mr Putin shows why he is president by his actions and the manner he does things. There should be more leaders like him. And it is a pity that some of my fellow countrymen are penis heads, the way they act. Keep safe, follow medical advice and keep up the excellent work.
