"Teremok" is an old Russian word for a small wooden house. Nowadays, it is also the brand name for a popular fast-food chain in Russia founded in 1998. Though after the latest re-branding, they say it is not a "fast food" but "fast casual".
"Teremok" is based on Russian food such as blini, pelmeni, borscht and kvass. The official concept of Teremok is to offer traditional Russian cuisine as fast food but to be at the same time more natural and healthy.
Currently there is 135 "Teremok" locations in St. Petersburg, Russia.

We tested Nevsky prospekt's Teremok several times last summer and we enjoyed it every time . For the price of a fast food, you have a simple and neat Russian cuisine, made from healthy products. Run: you will not be disappointed by this excellent value for money . A greedy Frenchman.

Unfortunately, when I went to Teremok for the first time (Arbat street in Moscow), after waiting for my turn for some minutes, two ladies in courtesan clothes (those who stand at Red Square to be photographed with tourists) came in and, when it was my turn, the brunette immediately jump the queue. My Russian was not fluent enough to speak fast, so I rather used my English to insist that I was before her. She told me angrily in Russian "What are you saying? I don't even understand you" and since then she ignored me and she continued making her order quickly. The worst of all was that the shop assistant also ignored me, so I decided to leave.

You find some of the most interesting places to show us. I love blini, borscht, kvass, etc. I would put on so much weight if I were there enjoying all the food. Sampling the local food, while on vacation, is half the fun of traveling. Another 10-star rating, my friend.

What I love about traditional Russian meals is that you can go to the store and buy like 2-5 ingredients for every meal, and the condiments and spices are common. But the flavor is still satisfying. And you get full, but not bloated.

Wow..."Теремок" - чистый и красивый! I last visited St. Petersburg in 1999, and didn't know it existed then. I must say, the bliny are more like crepes given their size and thinness, but they look AMAZING, particularly filled with "сгушенка." Also, I have never seen Salat Olivier not pre-mixed with the mayonnaise dressing, but I'd imagine it tastes fresher when you mix it yourself as you did at the table. The only pastry you ate that I've seen in Russia before is "бизэ" (marshmallow). I remember "Napoleon" being the most popular when I lived there. It's wonderful to see a fast food restaurant that stays true to homemade delicious Russian food!

We just came home yesterday from 3 weeks in Russia, 11 days in St Petersburg and 10 in Moscow. The food was wonderful, as my parents were Russian I was familiar with it but it tasted even better when watching it snow outside. We rented an apt at Griboyedov Kanal, 57. What a wonderful city, we should go back in the summer time. We ate at Barashki for my wife's Birthday dinner because of your video of the place a couple of months ago. Thank you.
