I love how Clay got the conversation going about campaign finance and the people whispering in politicians ears. This is the heart of what's wrong with politics these days. People keep on complaining about politicians going back on campaign promises and changing the moment they get into office, but nobody ever really digs into WHY this happens. It because once somebody gets into any position of power, they have a bunch of "advisors" whispering in their ears about how they need to act, what will play and what won't, etc... That shit changes a person. It makes them start thinking too much about what their supposed trusted personnel will think of what they say/do. You think Obama got into office and just decided, "Alright, screw everybody. Hope and change was just bullshit! I'm the President now! HAHAHAHAHAHA..." No... he got into a position of power and then suddenly, all the lobbyists, all the advisors, all the donors, all the sycophants and administrators, etc... started hounding him about shit. Started standing in his way. Starting convincing him of this and that. And it's easy to say that a President should just stay strong and assert his will (eerily, if you want him to do this, then essentially you want a dictator)... but a normal person doesn't do that. So you're asking for a sociopath to take over the oval office. This is what's become of politics. Everybody pins everything on whoever's in the oval office, but what you should be paying attention to is everything that goes on AROUND the oval office. Why do all presidents perpetuate wars and inequality and the war on drugs, etc... when their track record shows they were previously opposed to those things? Why did Mitt Romney pass an identical bill to the Affordable Care Act, and then turn around and oppose it when he was running for President? BECAUSE HE WAS TOLD TO OPPOSE IT! THAT'S WHY! So the question we should be asking here is not anything about who's running for president... it's WHO'S WHISPERING IN ALL THESE SUPPOSEDLY IMPORTANT PEOPLE'S EARS? HINT: The answer is most likely someone with money.

Hey John Meacham I have a question. Were YOU and YOUR publishing house one of the publishers who refused to publish ANY book that was positive about Michael Jackson??? Having done a great deal of reading about MJ I was really shocked to learn that several (legitimate) authors were trying to write and get published a book about Michael that was basically positive and they were told they only would publish books containing scandal and negativity. By the way, these people ended up "self-publishing" and wrote very good books exonerating Michael who for those of you who aren't sure about this was NOT a child molester. I thought this was America "the land of the free" where we have something called FREE SPEECH??? And you're telling me that the main publishing houses all said NO on this???
